  1. Collagen peptides, you get about 15g of protein pre 8oz serving of water. I have some that are berry, berry lemonade, pineapple-orange. The clear protein drinks are also available, basically the same thing just pre-mixed and varies flavors. I also put unflavored collagen peptides in my jello when I made my own, I used 2 scoops to 2 cups of jello for a 10g pre 1/2 cup serving of jello. Even though it unflavored it does give the jello a bit of a flavor. Hope that helps.
  2. It will be ok, I was kinda scared too but everything went well. It's natural to be scared, I mean thus isn't like getting a filling, its a major surgery. So it's totally ok to be a bit scared and nervous but complications are rare so typically everything is good. You'll be fine and your doctor will do a great job 🙏
  3. I can relate, it kills me cooking for my family, smelling all that good food and all I get is jello, yogurt, protein shake, or bone broth. My surgery was 2/6, I'm supposed to start pureed on Monday. Honestly though I don't mind the liquid diet, other then the food cravings but the diet itself has been bad. Good job getting all your water and protein in. I wish you luck on your journey, it will get better.
  4. Monday I can technically start my pureed diet but so far it's just smelling all these foods that I know I cook well and are delicious but can't eat them. Plus, I've been having a pain issue with my one incision, the stitches are kinda tight and when I'm up and active they pull because I'm not laying down like when I was stiched. Haven't necessarily wanted a lot of the food because I'm usually not hungry but damn does it smell good 😅
  5. Can you crush your pills? Maybe crush them and take them with some protein pudding to help with your protein intake. Another way I have made my goals is I have been doing the protein waters, kinda killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I also made myself jello with collagen protein in it so my 4oz jello has 10 g of protein. I know it can be hard especially with all the rules of eating and drinking after surgery, one of the things they told me to do was set a reminder for when to eat or drink and the man focus is to stay hydrated at this stage of the game. If you can get at least 1 protein shake in a day I would consider it a win.
  6. So today has been. A struggle for me. Part of it could be my incisions pain because the way the ab muscles were stitched it pulls when I'm moving or upright. Some of it could be cooking for my family while I get to enjoy jello, broth and yogurt. But today I have been on a roller coster emotionally.
  7. I was NPO after midnight for my surgery. I would just avoid anything red closer to surgery. And the longer you can do the clear liquid fast the better for liver shrinkage it will be. But of course whatever your doctor says is their procedure. You'll do fine, I was nervous and anxious too but don't regret it one bit.
  8. I ha dthat issue at first, I found that room temperature or warm not hot water or fluids are better, they tend to not cause the cramping. I had that issue in the hospital because they would bring ice water and it cramped and made I painful to try to drink but if I let it sit out and like eat the ice while I waited for the water to get room temp it was way better. Hope that helps for you too.
  9. Thankfully I didn't have a Foley either, that would be miserable. I accepted to have one but was quite relieved I didn't get one. I too had a rough night the first night, had pain crisis and trouble sleeping but after my pain was under control things got better. Hopefully things get better for you soon.
  10. So my clinic says to try to get 3 protein shakes a day for the first 14 days post surgery before moving to a pureed diet. Personally, I found the collagen protein fruit drinks easier to get down then a lot of the ready to drink or protein powders I already had on hand. Most were either too thick or sweet, I got samples of Braictric Fusion which only uses 4-6 oz and those were also a good one as it has 27g of protein and the smaller volume. I ended up ordering some of them last night. 😆
  11. For me it was quite a journey, as I started this journey almost 10 years ago in 2012 with my old doctors and through changes with doctors, insurance and locations it took me that long. This time because my insurance was giving me a bit of a hard time with approval to get my surgery I had 18 months of diet before I got my approval and date. But then I got a bit anxious and switched my surgeon, a decision I don't regret, and got rescheduled. For my insurance they prefer 12 months with at least 6 months of consecutive weight loss.
  12. Yes everything old is new again lol. But I honestly did this prior to surgery, I went through my closet and cleared out about half of my clothes that were getting too big or I knew I wasn't going to wear after. I could have gotten rid of more but wasn't quite ready to part with some things yet. But I know most if not all of my closet is going to have to go. I'm only about a week out from surgery and already almost 10lbs down.
  13. I honestly hate how much they push those food ads. I mean I know that it's not good food and that's part of it but most of my food cravings aren't for fast food, it's things like cheesy scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes with gravy or cheese sauce right now. Lol I think I just want cheese sauce honestly lol
  14. The first day or 2 were the worst for me, mostly because I didn't want to take the extra pain meds and ended up in a pain crisis. So don't be afraid to take your pain meds, use them so you can get better quicker. Wish you luck, your gonna do great.
  15. What I did was I mainly focused on making sure I got my fluids in. I started my pre-surgery diet 14 days prior, with 3 shakes if I could remember to get them all in and 1 sensible meal (they gave me a list of approved foods) but mainly focused on water or protein waters (collagen peptides). The main reason and idea behind the diet is to help your liver use up its stores of glucagon and fat, so when you go in for surgery your liver will be nice, healthy, and tight tissue instead of being a bit on the softer side which can cause issues not only with visual fields but bleeding if the liver is not tight enough. Not that this is usually too big of an issue but the better you can do pre-surgery the easier the surgery and better recovery will be. As much of a challenge as pre-surgery diet is, post surgery can be just as challenging. I had surgery on February 6th 2023 and it's been a struggle finding a rhythm to my "eating" which is still mainly liquids. Good luck 🤞
  16. Good morning all you February 2023 surgery folks. I had my Gastric Sleeve on February 6th 2023, I'm home trying to heal and take it easy but I'm not very good about taking it easy.
