Hello - I need some help and I cant get in to see the doc.
I had surgery 6 weeks ago (no fill yet).
I'm having problems with pain around my port area. I still cant sleep on my side or tummy yet and any pressure on my port area really hurts.
After I eat my 1/2 cup of food It feels like my port is pushing up against my skin and ready to pop out of me at any minute and it really hurts. I tried eating slow or not eating as much at one time. But still the same problem with my port pushing up against my skin.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal in the beginning with some people? I know everyone's different but it hurts. OUCH!
I had gas pains in the beginning but not for a long time now. Do you think I'm getting gas pain again immediately after I eat?
Thank you all for any support.

Hello - I had my surgery 6 weeks ago and I'm still having problems lying on my side or on my stomach. Any pressure at all on my port area hurts me!

Yes - I too put my weight loss starting at the time I went to see my doctor for the first time. eight months later I had the lap band surgery. I had lost 20 pounds before surgery and now 20 pounds after surgery.

Hello - I have been taking Zoloft daily for years due to my anxiety issues. I also have a prescription for xanax if I ever am having a really really bad day! - I just got banded march09 and I'm doing great. I have not had any need of the Xanax but I always take my Zoloft daily and it keeps me even and very stable. I think being on the drug may have caused me to gain weight thru the years! So if your doctor thinks you don't need to be on it anymore that's great!
best of luck with your band!

Hi - Hope you feel better today - and oh the PAIN the first few days for some can be really bad. I also was in a lot of pain but by day five was feeling much better.
the first three day after surgery all I did was sleep and have ice chips and sugar free popsiciles. That really helped my dry mouth and throat. I also made sure to take my pain meds every four hours. If you have gas pain in your tummy or shoulders/back you need to walk around the house to release some of it. You will start to feel better each day.
Congratulations on your surgery!! I'm so happy for you.

Oh!! You guys are making my mouth Water. Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum
Thanks for all the great ideas - I'm going to try them all.

Hello for me BCBS wanted to see that I had a 5 year history of being overweight. They just wanted to see my weight history.
Best of luck to you on your surgery!

YES - I did have both surgery at the same time - I was told by my doc that you really don't have any more pain and you don't need any extra healing time added to your lap band surgery. I'm doing great now. I'm on day 12

Hello - I was in a lot of pain - Gas was really bad in my tummy however it never made it up to my shoulders. I was in so much pain the first 5 days I was just a big mess!!
On day 6 I felt a bit better and on day 9 I was over the gas pains and my port area hardly hurt at all. I'm now on day 12 and am well enough to go back to work and drive the car, walk the dog, clean the house.... So I'm feeling pretty good right now.
Everybody is different just remember each day gets better!

Hello - for #1 Do what your doctor says! I know this is really hard because I'm in the same boat as you. I had my surgery on 3/23 I have to be on the clear liquid diet for two weeks and It is by far the hardest part I have gone thru. My head hunger is out of control. TV food commercials are the worst right now. However I have been told it gets better each day.
My Doc warned me that I need to heal and not stretch out my smaller stomach or the band can slip.
That scared me straight!!
So I will wait until I get my doc's ok to move on to the next diet. But Ohhhhhh I cant wait!!!
-
Congratulation on getting your date! I too am on for 3/23. I started my journey back in July08 with the six month dietician. It was a long wait but I will finally be banded this Monday. Best wishes to you for you surgery this Monday. Take care

I think you hit the nail on the head! I should have gone to the dentist and got my teeth worked on. (hard to chew anything) that would be great with a diet.
I also have to stay overnight. Which I'm happy to do. Its much safer. They just bumped me back from 1pm surgery time to 8:30 am first surgery of the day. I guess I wont have a problem getting into a room if I'm the first one.

Congrats on starting the journey. I started in July08 I'm getting close but still don't quite have a surgery date yet. I have Blue Cross of California however they are all a little different in what they require from you. You can see my dated list below of all the requirements my insurance needed from me.
Best wishes to you and good luck on your journey.
