My first post op appointment was with a nurse - and all seems to be in order

We had surgery on the same day!! My weight loss has been less than I hoped for the first week but getting my liquids, Protein and walks in. I am not having any issues holding down liquids (and while I am not pushing it - I feel like I would not have issues handling more liquids)

Do those have caffeine?On 03/09/2023 at 22:56, Erin18 said:
Where do you get the clear premiere Protein Drinks? I got the proteinh2o . It's not bad. I'm going to drink it more. I think I need to keep it cold instead of just drinking it as is.

I am on the 21st I started liquid diet (Optifast) on Saturday - for two weeks with 2 cups non-starch vegetables. Have my last pre -op meeting with the surgeon, internal medicine specialist, anesthesiologist, surgical nurse and pharmacist on the 15th - will get my plan for the last two days pre-surgery after the final set of tests - so it sounds like the plans are really personalized - if your team hasn’t said anything maybe you’re fine. I would ask. High Protein, low carb in the homestretch sounds safeOn 03/09/2023 at 07:39, Quetta89 said:
Hey guy my surgery is on the 22nd and I haven't started my liquid diet yet any words of encouragement. Do you think I can do a liquid diet morning and lunch then do a light dinner like tuna and salad or should I do a straight liquid diet. I hope I can stick to it

Glad it worked outOn 03/03/2023 at 16:29, BrigitteLM said:
I’m on day 6 of liquids for Breakfast and lunch and a 400 calorie dinner. Only craved food yesterday when I saw the “word” of a particular food, and it triggered a desire for it lol.
I’ve lost 6-8 lbs in the 6 days, just depends what my starting weight was exactly.
My surgery is next week Wednesday and I had a scare this week where I had to redo one of my labs. I nearly had a breakdown (it was also my birthday) as I felt so overwhelmed. But feeling better since then as my lab test came back normal now. -

For me there is also the element of hope - there is nothing worse than working so hard and seeing no results

I am having ‘anxiety’ about a lot of future state things - what if I get cancer years later and have difficulty getting the nutrition I need. What if I get Alzheimer’s and can’t remember to take the Vitamins I need
-
Thank you for sharing - I have mine scheduled for Wed March 1st

I had a Tummy Tuck years ago and having surgery on March 20th. Neither the surgeon or internal medicine specialist expressed any concerns (though it was pointed out tummy tucks are controversial because they push your fat into your organs)
-
I did something similar - I have a 35BMI (with comorbitities) and was doing really well until I got the date and now I am indulging in foods I cut out months ago. Start my liquid diet on Saturday for a March 20th surgery date
-
Here is another one - anyone take a lot of medications - I have Metformin, pressure and cholesterol - after surgery with the pouch - how do you eat them one at a time - spread out that is some time

Good to know. It’s funny my surgery is scheduled for March 20th and I have already jumped from what if I die, get cancer and can’t absorb nutrients, don’t lose the weight - to what am I going to do about lose skin!!! Another dumb question - how did you tell people/ respond to invitations for lunches or dinners? On 02/22/2023 at 18:21, The Greater Fool said:
I agree with most everyone that there is little you can do about stretched and ripped (let's get real) skin.
However, don't accept that you must pay for tummy-tucks or anything else. My insurance paid for my abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck), and had approved my thighs had I continued. I wasn't worried about my arms, but I could have made similar cases and had insurance pay.
Remember: "Reconstructive." Start documenting rashes, back pain, infections, etc. and your plastic surgery becomes a "reconstructive" surgery rather than a cosmetic one. Because mine were reconstructive mine were 100% paid by my insurance.
Good luck,
Tek

I bought the tiny forks and spoons from Amazon - and have started using pre-surgery. I am also considering a hand blenderOn 02/22/2023 at 17:51, Alang316 said:
Yes I did 2 huge Amazon orders. Lol. I believe I have everything. I ordered this food kit just for bariatric surgery. I have a my Vitamins, I even bought some under garmets for the surgery too. To lessen having loose skin plus skin tightening cream. What do you have so far? Plus I got the food measuring cups

Feeling frustrated and demoralized
in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums

Here is my story. I spent years stuck at 210 (I am 5’2) and thousands of dollars on personal trainers, nutritionists etc. watched and recorded everything I ate to no avail and of coarse the only scale movement would be I ate a cookie and gained two pounds. Meanwhile I began collecting every co morbidity - sleep apnea, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes , sever scaring on my liver. After two seperate per ate unsuccessful medically supervised diets I was advised gastric bypass was my best bet. I lot 10 lbs in the lead up (5 days a week of boot camp and strength training and Keto diet). I lost another 20 lbs on the per-op liquid diet. Had surgery on March 29th. Lost 5 lbs in the first two days and have had no movement since. Walking 3 times a day at 30 minutes each. Drinking 70 oz of Water and at least 90 g of Protein plus all of the supplements. I know there is a three week stall but I am on a 3 day stall (at the time when weight loss is suppose to be the easiest). This was my last hope and I am starting to feel hopeless.
