  1. Wow August BANDit's are rocking it! I'm past the 'sweet spot' and excited to see my dr. on Dec 16 for an adjustment. At this point, it should be for an unfill.

I got 4cc for my first fill and 1cc for my second. Since about 7 days after the 2nd fill, I can't eat anything early in the day and sometimes Water hurts. I get a heartburn feeling and a yucky full painful feeling as my food travels downward. I wanted to get in for the unfill sooner, but with the holiday schedule of my dr and my work travel, we had to settle for the 16th. Now, it's been a few weeks and it is getting marginally better, but still some pain with eating and drinking. This has helped kick up the weight loss, but I don't think the dr will see this as a positive side effect!

  2. I have two fills going on with a total of 5ccs in my Realize Band. I posted on my blog about the heartburn-y tightness in my chest feeling I get often. It doesn't always center around eating, but I've never had it before and I'm eating Waaaay less. Losing well, (maybe too well, if that's possible) but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking, this is the sweet spot...it just hurts right now. (thinking bitch slap)!

I'll probably give the dr's office a shout and see if I should be worried. I'm really not! Doing good on the losing right now, and not looking for another fill any time soon.

  3. Howdy Ya'll-

I'm happy to report nearly 27 lbs lost total from my highest weight. I was banded 8/27 and got a 4cc fill on 9/30. I was in for my 6 week nutrition appt and had lost nearly 4 lbs since the fill. I get fuller faster now, with the little restriction i've got going on, but still know that more is needed.

My next fill is 10/21 and I just hope to continue losing until then. I'm not exercising much, always have good intentions, just never follow through. I'm going to get better.

My clothes fit better and looser now, hoping to toss some of my big stuff soon, but still able to wear everything, just more comfortably.

  4. to Miss J

Some don't have a pre op liquid diet if their BMI is not too high. My dr. wants to make sure my liver is shunk so it stays out of the way for the banding. I'll have 2 weeks of pre op dieting! Also, the phenomenon of eating everything in sight prior to the surgery (or start of the pre op) is quite common, but unnecessary (according to most). It's that last supper syndrome where we visit with all the foods we love most because we don't think we'll ever see or taste them again. Fortunately, as I've read, we'll be able to eat anything we want, eventually, keeping good choices in mind and becoming satisfied with much smaller portions.

  5. Hey ya'll

I started a blog in May when I thought I was going to be banded in June. I never thought I'd still be waiting, but Aug 27 is my new beginning. I would love for anyone to check it out and get to know me and my journey a little better. I also made up my August BANDits tag, what do you think? I love it and green is my favorite color. Since Peridot is august's birthstone, I think it fits.

    Have a good one all.

  6. I'm with Jason on the Mondays. When I did Weight Watchers (for over 18 months) I went to a Sat morning meeting and weighed in then. Well, after that it was a free for all for the weekend, and get back on track on Monday. I'm not sure how I'll approach this weigh in, but I"ll be accountable to all the other August Bandits and figure something out.

Wouldn't it be great to now worry about saboutaging myself and just eat normally no matter what day I weigh in?

I've already told my family that I want a GOOD scale for the house, I don't currently have one. Maybe my girls will get one for me as their going away gift! They are moving out on Aug 28 and I'll be banded on the 27th...ahhh a happy weekend all the way around!

  7. My current surgery date is Aug 27, but I did have a July 20th date scheduled previously and started my 2 week pre op diet and actually got 3 1/2 days in before it was changed. My diet consists of Protein Shakes before breakfast and lunch. For b'fast I can have hot Cereal or grits, yogurt and applesauce and 8 oz of milk. Lunch is broth or just the broth of a Soup, yogurt or applesauce. dinner is much the same without the Protein before and I can add sugar free Jello or popsicles with a Protein Drink after dinner. I lost 7 lbs when i did this for less than 4 days. I"m thinking a good 15-20 will drop when I get on this prior to my surgery! Yeah!

  8. Hi Ya'll

I'm Kathi from the Dallas area and I'm just hoping this is the last monthly group I'll be joining. Until I fix my signature, you'll see I was supposed to be banded TODAY! Oh well, a little pneumonia postponed my surgery! I had a June 22 date initially and then sleep apnea pushed that back. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Aug 27 will be the ACTUAL date I get banded. I went to my first WLS seminar last year on Aug 28, funny how we can remember these dates so easily. I had some insurance changes midway through which also changed my requirements. In April I was all ready and paperwork went through in less than a month.

More about me, I'm 5'8" (pretty tall) and my current weight is around 305. I did 3 1/2 days of my liquid diet before the pneumonia and lost nearly 7 lbs then. It wasn't too awful, but it is just another hurdle and I'm treating it like the challenge it is. My fave Protein Shakes are the muscle milk, I much prefer 'milky' shakes rather than fruity supplements, and these are pretty good.

I have not been overweight all my life, just after having kids (2nd daughter) and dieted and got into ONEderland once or twice. Been well into the 200s for the last 15 years or so and managed with it. I'm 49 and want a healthier more active life with my wonderful boyfriend. My girls are cheering me on and we're all excited for the new life this Realize band will afford me. I have a blog that I'm pretty regular with if you'd like to know more about me and my crazy thoughts.

I'm happy to be with a group of supportive folks with the same goals. I am ready for this band and am looking forward to being more fit in my 50s!

  9. I had a half day of appts at my surgeons office on Wednesday also. Got my spirometor too and they explained nearly every step of the surgery. There were three of us, all getting banded on Monday, July 20. I learned that I don't have to stay overnight, which I originally thought, so I'm really happy about that. Got my liquid diet instructions and was quite pleased to see more than pure liquids on there. I can have applesauce, yogurt, grits and broths. It is for 2 weeks and I'm planning on sticking strictly to it. Good luck, and can't wait to see how your surgery goes.

  10. Yeah for JULY! I'll be thinking about the lucky ones going in early in the month. I'm less than 3 weeks out now and start liquids on Monday! It's going to be a good 4th weekend, visiting all my favorite foods for the last time! :P Can't wait to start reading reports from our July Banders! Good luck all!

  11. I started looking into this almost a year ago, so the time for what if's has passed for me. I just can't wait to be banded and get on with the weight losing! I'm so glad there are so many here to help us on the way. I read blogs and have made friends that I'm sure I'll stay in touch with for years to come. I hear it so often, what took me so long to come to this decision or it was the best decision I ever made, wish I'd done it years ago. That will be me one day when I'm healthy and even more fabulous! Go Freedom Fighters... July 20 here! Can't wait.

  12. I'll throw in the short version. I did start a blog in May and the link is below my signature. Feel free to get to know me better there!

My name is Kathi and I'm 49?! WHAT? I know, but I'm young at heart and in spirit. I have a wonderful boyfriend and we are hoping to become even more active once my band is in place.

I've been divorced over 20 years and have two lovely daughters who are 23 and 27!

I was never really fat growing up and joined the Air Force out of high school. The weight wouldn't go away after my second daughter and that's when I got out of the military, just wanted to be a mom.

I grew up in Miami, FL and have lived in lots of great places but I"m happy to call the Dallas area of Texas home for now. I have a great government job and I'm looking forward to my surgery on July 20!

  13. Hey Ya'll,

July 20 here as well! Yipppeee! There is another thread regarding July 09 on here where we've talked about picking a name! Ya'll should check it out and weigh in!

I'm finally at the starting gate of this process too, and started last year in August going to my first seminar. It's been a long wait, but one I'm sure has been worth it and I can say I am prepared now. Bring on the Band!
