  1. Ive always been a big Water drinker so rarely would I have any soda. The only soda I care for is fountain coke. Ive had maybe a sip or 2 of canned soda since banding and its just not worth it anymore. Next time my husband has a fountaint Coke I may have a sip but Ive never been one to sit down with a can/glass of soda so I definitely dont do it now.

  2. I told everyone and now I wish I hadnt. Im usually very open about everything so as soon as I had my surgery date I told alot of my family and friends. I wish I hadnt because these last 6 months have been hard for me. I hadnt lost any weight before my last fill and all of the questions of my non weight loss made me feel horrible and like a failure. I found myself having to explain the band and how it works to everyone after their disappointing looks. I really didnt think it would take me this long to start losing. 5 fills and 8.8ccs later it looks like this might be it!

As time went by and I had no weight loss I stopped telling people. Dealing with the looks and questions of people I had already told was enough.

  3. I didnt watch for a long time because I cant believe how cold Kate is but I do love those kids and think they so cute.

As a mom I know that you have to take control if you want anything to get done but I always appreciate my husband and all he does for us. It just seems that Kate is always controlling and never appreciative but I dont know that for sure.

  4. This is very frustrating for me too. I too got 1cc at my last app for a total of 8.8cc. I always have good restriction for a few days due to swelling after a fill or BPing. I guess Im one of those people that swell a good bit. My Dr told me to do 2 days liquid and 2 days mushies after my last fill and this is the first time that I actually NEED to do that! Before by day 2-3 I felt ready for regular food. Im still on liquids today moving to mushies now because this fill feels different than all the others so Im hoping this is it!

ETA: My Dr said my band is studied for 9cc but is overfilled frequently but has to be done under x-ray.

  5. The doctors in HOUMA have done between 300 andd 400 lap band procedures. We have a support group that meets the last Wednesday of the month at the surgery center. I find the group very helpful and encouraging.

Are they open to everyone or just for people who have had surgery with those Drs?

  6. I have a problem with swelling after a fill. I feel fine in the office but by the evening its usually pretty tight. It definitely takes me a couple of days to get to normal. Vomiting is the worst! I swell alot if for some reason I cant keep food down. Ive had 1 unfill because too soon after a fill (3cc) I had a bite of dry cake forgetting about the band for a second. It came right back up and I had horrible swelling, even Water was extremely painful to drink. I called for an unfil and had 1cc removed, this made it so much easier while waiting for the swelling to go down.

  7. I have had 3 fills and I am definitly restricted. My problem is it hurts to eat. I know I am chewing and eating slowly but one or two bites and then I am in pain. I have the back ache and shoulder ache from the time after surgery. I can eat crayfish but chicken and beef kill me. i couldn't even eat a scrambled egg today. It even hurts to drink. I am one unhappy camper.

I had the same exact thing happen to me. I was too tight. I called my Dr because Water hurt going down. I lost 6lbs in 3 days. I had 1cc removed and it was so much better.

BTW, Im from Houma too. I dont really know anyone local thats had the surgery. I see a Dr in Metairie.

  8. I'm now just past halfway to my goal. I now have 6.3, and I feel perfectly adjusted.

I am tight enough in the morning to only be able to eat yogurt or some other mushy....which is what I would usually eat anyway.

lunch I can eat, if I'm careful and pay attention.

dinner, I can eat anything, but very limited on amount. I have my band adjusted to what I want for the evening meal, as that is when I'm mostly likely to have trouble.

    This is my exact situation.

  9. bread has given me a lot of trouble since being banded. Until last week I was still trying to give it a chance but I had one bite of bread last week and it got stuck so Im giving up bread for now. Its just not worth it. I havent had any problem with Pasta or rice.
