  1. I didnt go to my first support group until about 6 months out. I went the local support group and didnt find it very helpful and more than likely will never go back. My Drs office is an hour away and they hold a support group once a week. I went once and found it extremely helpful but the drive keeps me from going more often. Im thinking about going today because it was helpful in a different way than this board is. If my Drs group was local I would be there every week.

  2. My Dr told me that it takes about 3 weeks to truly feel the affects of a fill and I find that to be true for me. You really cant tell while on fluids or even soft foods that just run through your band since no solid food is staying. I usually have 5 or so days of swelling to deal with then just wait to judge each meal/food before making a decision.

  3. your only question that i can see on your previous posts is about a fill that is time stamped this morning.

really i think your jumping the gun - many post in the evenings & wkends.....no reason to sell yourself short here.

agreed! Im not part of any clique but I dont feel like I dont fit in either. Overweight, lapband.. dont know how I wouldnt fit in.

  4. Hi everyone! I was banded on 6/30 and I cant for the life of me find my port. Just wondering if I should be able to feel it of not? :)

I cant really feel mine because Im so fluffy. lol I can feel in from the inside when I lay on my left side. My Dr told me that my port would be in the incision that was the longest and I think they told me where that incision would be, not sure on that part though. When I saw the incisions I knew about where the port was.

  5. Give it some more time because it sometimes takes me more than a week for the swelling to go down to really feel what the fill has done. Maybe you're getting close and you have to start paying attention to your chewing habits and making sure you get enough Protein to keep you full between meals. Chewing really does make a big difference, thats why we have to make sure we chew alot. It takes me 2-3 weeks to really know how much each fill affects me.

  6. Im a social drinker and have been adjusting to the changes. I would say I feel the effects ALOT sooner than I did before. I drink about a quarter of what I used to. Im not a big fan of beer, I normally have mixed drinks, but recently I had a beer completely forgetting about the band and I couldnt finish it. The carbonation was definitely noticeable so I stopped drinking it before I had any major problems.

  7. Hi, do you have a 9 cc regular realize band or you have the 11 cc realize C band? I have a realize C and I am up to 7.4 cc now. I don't think I am at sweet spot yet. I really hope I could get there soon.

I have the regular 9cc band. I recently had to have an unfill because I found my band feeling tighter and I was moving to slider foods and away from my solid protiens. .2 was removed originally but I still felt pain when I would drink Water so an additional .4cc was removed putting me at 8.2ccs. I feel a TON better and Im able to get all of my Water in, I couldnt before because even water would hurt going down. At my unfill appointment my Dr. told me that she thought I would need to have some put back in later. I still have restriction but I just have to feel this out. Its amazing the difference .6cc made.

  8. My Dr does overfill the band but that didnt sit well with me. Luckily I finally got restriction at 8.8 in my 9 band because even though they told me it wouldnt be a problem to overfill the band, just the increase of chance of complications from that isnt something I would have done.

  9. I waited a couple of months before trying to use a straw and I do occasionally now. I have gotten into the habit of letting the air out of my mouth before swallowing. I burp enough without the added air from a straw but using a straw somehow makes me drink more fluids through the day so letting the air out before swallowings is my compromise.
