  2. I seriously cannot stomach plain Protein shakes so I was happy to find a little shake recipe hand out at my Surgeons office. Its from Susan Maria Leach @ bariatriceating.com The basic shake recipe is: 1/2 cupe skim milk, soy milk or Water 2 scoops of vanilla protein 1 cup of ice flavoring/mix ins I made the Peanut Butter cup one tonight and its the best Protein Shake Ive ever had! :tongue2: Ive had about half of the shake and Im full. 2 teaspoons of good quality cocoa powder 1 heaping tablespoon of whipped peanut butter 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure/natural) The paper has about 20 shakes so I'll be making my way through the list to help up my protein. I'll type them up to share. Protein shake mix ins

Yup. I found only one kind of whipped peanut butter. Not sure why it uses whipped over regular other than it does have a little fewer calories. I bought the Hazelnut syrup but I havent tried it yet. I saw her mention german chocolate cake syrup (?) on bariatriceating.com

    Planning band

Hi there! I definitely want the weight to go faster than I know it will but just think, in the end it will be worth it. I had an "ah-ha" thought too for Christmas. My entire family is overweight.. parents/aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents and this year I kept thinking to myself that this was definitely the right move for me. I cant fall into their footsteps.
  8. Im not in your group but I saw your photos and wanted to say congratulations!! You look fantastic!
  9. I see a difference. All of the shapes are still there but definitely smaller now than before.
  10. Its amazing how things vary from Doctor to Doctor. All of my paperwork says absolutely NO grits during the mushy phase and protien drinks everyday. My paperwork is for 8 weeks. Right now my stuff says to add in tuna and fruits. Milk makes the protien taste so much better! I couldnt stomach it with Water. My nutritionist pushed protien more than anything else so I picked up a page of recipes and add ins to help change things up a bit. I have no routine what so ever and that is making this harder for me to 'get'. Im home all day so I have nothing to give me an outline for the day. Im hoping once my daughter is back in school I'll be able to get into a routine.

    Surgical Specialists of Louisiana

I dont know which other hopsitals they use but I know they do use others. Which area do you live in? Im from Houma.
  12. I did not follow my preop diet. I did my own low carb/high protien diet and was still banded. There were days I cheated on my own diet and had too many carbs.
  13. I cant wait to walk in high heel shoes!

    "Realize my Success" website

Today was my first day on my realize site. I just got my codes today. I have to say Im impressed so far with the site. Its a neat tool.
  16. It is hard! My last grocery trip was chaos. I tried to just skim over everything that wasnt on my list so I didnt even think about it. I also looked at ALOT of labels. I used to do this alot but stopped overtime. After reading the labels, my temptation to buy that product was gone. lol BTW, I was also banded on 12.11.08!

    Surgical Specialists of Louisiana

I thought I might post a little info about my surgery too. I didnt stay overnight but if I had the hospital staff told me that my husband would be able to stay with me. I was at Southern Surgical Hospital. Will you be using the same? After surgery I was on Lortab Elixer. I took it ever 4 hours for 2 days then ran out. I tried to use just Tylenol after but it wasnt helping at all so I had my Lortab Elixer refilled. I didnt have to take it every 4 hours like before because I was feeling better. I too saw Dr Thomas only twice.. pre-op consent forms and the day of surgery. Ive seen Chris twice.

    Surgical Specialists of Louisiana

Im happy to find this thread. I was banded on 12/11/08 with Dr. Thomas. I like him and all of his staff, they've been wonderful and are very personable. I really wouldnt change anything except maybe an office location a little closer to my house. lol

    December 11 date :)

I had my post op today. All of my incisions are fine. I had a rash around my port incision but all is well now. Im scheduled for my first fill on Feb 4th. Such a long time away but I have to wait for certain dates to go to the office closest to my house. Im not up for the 2 hour drives anymore. Im having a hard time sticking to my list and the person I saw today wasnt surprised at all. I'll be trying out new protien powders and liquids this week since Ive been slacking. I picked up a paper today at my Drs office with protien smoothie recipes. Some sound really good. I have a Realize band and was able to log into my realize website today. Its really neat... Similar to WW online but more detailed.

    December 11 date :)

Im a tummy sleeper too and it drove me crazy not to be able to sleep on my tummy. I can now though. When I lay down I have a big bump where my port is. My steri strips are driving me insane! My post op appointment is Tuesday.
  21. It IS possible and it is happening. I just saw a member in the intros say shes getting a band in January after having bypass in 2004.

    Driving After Lap-band

Im 8 days out and I feel fine to drive but I cant until my Dr releases me.
  25. I had a 2 week preop diet that allowed 1 small meal a day. I did not follow my diet really. I did low carb/high protein after researching the whole liver shrinking idea.
