  1. No -- my husband works for Dell. I got home around 5 that day and I was really out of it. Have you lost any more? I am STUCK at 20 lbs. BUT made it through T-giving and my cycle w/o gaining :-) I get my first fill on Monday. I was on mushies at T-giving and EVERY MUSHY has about a million calories -- e.g. sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, dressing.

At this point I seriously can't tell I have a band. Hopefully the first fill will help out :-)

I will let you know what to expect.

  2. I was also banded on 11/14 at Williamson County with Dr. Marquez!!! We were probably across the hall from each other. I too am hungry and I have my first fill on Monday :-) I want the bad to start helping me out here :-) I had no issues with the surgery or recovery. If I didn't KNOW I had surgery I wouldn't know anything was different.

I am almost on a regular diet now -- how about you?

  3. I also have a ROWDY 36 lb. 2-year old. I showed him my incisions and said Momma -owwie! So every time he wanted to jump on my lap I just repeated that and it seemed to distract him and slow him down a bit... Also, I was "coaching" him on getting into our SUV about 2 weeks before my surgery, I just have to lean over to buckle him which is not so bad. Try to stock up on groceries because lifting him into the grocery cart was an unanticipated issue. I quickly scouted out the little car that he could just climb into. Good luck...

  4. Ok - you guys are making me think -- my dr. said cream Soups so I have been making Soup and then blending the H*LL out of it with my blender so that there are NO lumps. Is this cheating? The canned soups just make me gag -- I am so sick of them. I haven't had any REAL solids although my family has ordered pizza 2X --since I am not cooking. I really don't think that soup is cheating - right? Maybe I am just asking for approval :-) thanks to you all -- stacy

  5. I am being banded this coming Friday -- I have already joined a marathon training program. I have lost 10 lbs. but get so down because I am ALWAYS last -- and I know in my head that it is NOT a race but my competitive side tells me differently. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your comment about the first and last TRIATHLETE. I just gotta keep on truckin'. Thanks for the inspirational words!

  6. Thanks for the note -- it is nice to be REMEMBERED :-) I had my psych initial and I should go for the testing next week. I haven't heard from my insurance yet -- so I am still WAITING. I am anxious, nervous, happy, scared... hopeful!

I just wish I was already 6 months down the road. I will keep you posted on my progress :-)

  7. Hey I am currently involved with Austin Fit -- a marathon training program. Saturday morning I did 7 miles. I haven't been banded YET but I am hopeful it will be soon. I thought no time better than the present, hopefully it will help my recovery and the journey will be a bit easier since I have already started exercising :-)

  8. That is really interesting -- he seems to be a pioneer in the field. I am still sticking with Marquez -- because I like her! I feel very comfortable conveying my concerns and questions to her. Also, I have NEVER EVER worn a bikini so I don't suppose the scars will matter much to me :-) I hated to hear about your sis -- it reminds me that there are downsides to everything. I do hope her health has stabilized.

  9. I am really interested in the band, not sure of which one yet though, I have 3 kids and a 2 week recovery really isn't an option. Also the risks of internal bleeding and sepsis are higher with the GBP. The band being reversible is also appealing for me.

I have done the seminar, had my initial consult, I have my initial psych scheduled for next week, I got a "bye" on the exercise since I walk about 12 miles per week with a training program. Blood and EKG are right before surgery so I am just rockin' along...

  10. Thanks for your insight. I am comfortable with Dr. Marquez as I have had 2 surgeries with her before. I had a breast lumpectomy about a year ago (I was so scared from my bad mammogram) and I love her bedside manner. I also really like seeing a female doctor. Dr. Marquez is suggesting the Realize band but she spent time on gbp and banding as options.

Good luck to you and keep me posted on your progress!!!
