Hello fellow soon-to-be RNYers!:w00t: I had RNY on 10/14. I stayed in the hosptial for 2 days. The surgery went well and I was able to start taking liquids 24 hours post op. That was hard, as my throat was SOOO dry. They had me on a morphine pump, which was very nice:wink2:. I had no complications and came home on the 16th. The only negative is the gas pain, which is expected. They have to inject gas into your stomach after they finish to make sure there are no open areas or fistulas. The gas pain is very tough, but walking and taking gas X works well. When I arrived home I weighed 275! I was so discourgaged, but I knew it was Water weight. I weighed today and I am 259.:eek: With the exception of the gas, there is no pain. I wish you well!

I sooo understand how you feel! I love diet coke:drool:! I have not had any in 2 weeks and it is so tough:sad:. You would think something that has no sugar, no sodium, no fat, would be allowed, but it is not. It does get easier. This forum is a great place to vent, we all understand each others struggles. It helps to know you are not the only one!

Hi! I am home doing well, I ended up having the gastric bypass, I don't know if I told you or not. Lots of GAS!!! I have been walking like crazy.

Hello everyone. I ended up having the RNY on 10/14 with Dr. Scott Steinberg at Dekalb Medical center. I arrived at 10am, IV, shot and paperwork were done and my hubby and I waited. Then, the nurse came in and told me we were going EARLY!! So, I was wheeled into the OR, the orderlies made me laugh! They were so great. I got onto the OR bed and totally freaked out!!! I began crying, and the OR nurse was soo sweet, she wiped away my tears and even prayed with me, she was just so awesome. I woke up in the recovery room with a little pain and really cold, but they were great with keeping me warm and giving me pain meds. I really enjoyed the morphine pump! :cool2: That was soooo nice, I am glad they took it away, I could totally get hooked on it. I spent 2 days in the hospital, everyone was nice, but it is even nicer to be at home.:smile: I am dying from the gas pains, but I walked a mile today, which really did help.:frown:

Gas pains!! AAAAAAGGGGGHHH! I am dying from gas pains, other than that, no problems, no hunger, no other pain.

Wow! It has been such a journey and soon I will begin another road. It is surreal, but exciting. I am sooo thirsty, but I can't have anything, so I will just have to suck it up. I brushes my teeth this morning and I soo wanted to swallow some water, but I know in the end it would only potentiallly harmful for me. So I will just hang out, not much longer I will be going into the hospital at 10a surgery is at 12n! I will write more later!!:cry_smile:

Okay, so I have to do the clear liquid thing today and tomorrow. No big deal right? WRONG!!! I am soo hungry, this morning I woke up and ate a coffee cup full of chicken broth and 3 cups of jello. I washed all of that down with some water. I can do this, it is for the best, I just have to get the head hunger out of my mind. Tomorrow, I have to continue with the clear liquids, take 3 TBSPNS of Milk of Mag :thumbup: and take neomycin, which is sure to give me major diarrhea. Oh, did I mention that I am working 12 hours tomorow??? Luckily, the bathroom is not too far. Please pray for me.:cry_smile:

OMG!!! I had to take neomycin today as part of my preop! I became soooo nauseated, I had to stop on my way to work to vomit.:smile2::Banane27::laugh: But, I feel a little better now, I have been sipping on gatorade today, tomorrow is around the corner!!!:Banane53:

Thanks! I am going to check with my doc. I really would like to be able to have one small cup per day, maybe not right away, but after a few weeks. :crying:
