    1 week post-op

i was the same way with eating only 1 oz and feeling stuffed for the first days after surgery. You arent doing anything wrong your just healing :crying: has time progresses you will get more hungry trust me I have two more weeks of liquids to go and I know I will make it but geez, its so hard. lol. Im starving at work all the time, According to my coordinator I can eat anything like yogurt or thinner at this time. There is no mushie stage, goes straight to liquids to solids. Gnc has a great whey protien vanilla mix i bought. Im drinking some right now and tastes much better than a protien shake. it has 20 grams of protien per scoop. Dont worry, your fine right now eating 1 oz at a time no worries

    1 week post-op

hi Kim! I as well am very hungry and am craving so many things, but haven't given in. One, the money i spent on the surgery is not going to waste and two, I know the only way to make this really work is follow the outlined plan. Somethings I have done to help with the hunger, is to blend foods such as chili, refried beans( in small amounts ) and not often. I do my protien drink a day, then drink throughout. doing 3 0z of protien an hour. i am starving let me tell you, but I know if i jump ahead of doctors orders, it could be detrimental to my progress and lapband. My suggestions would be not to go to mcdonalds if you feel like you will give in. I had people offering me donuts at work today and im like heck no!! but i do understand its a difficult road and i dont get filled until 10/29!!! my surgery was on 09/15, i hate feeling hungry all the time too. a blender is my best friend. yogurt really does the trick too

3rd week on full liquids and getting hungry

i have aplan for dinner what do you all think? im going to do some ground turkey in some sloppy joe mix. then blend it for me to eat? lots of protien in one serving 26 grams, for the family ill put the blended mix on french bread and some low fat cheese for yummy cheese pizza  do you think blending meats at this time is ok? im starting to actually get really hungry now 10 day post op and protien shakes are doing the trick anymore. ive been drinking the 50 grand slam with 50 oz protien. I dont want to upset my band but man im sooo hungry and for some reason ( maybe its in my head) real foods that are low carb low fat in the blender work well to satisfy me. I made a huge mistake yesterday. I took a yogurt to work thinking it was 3 4 oz but it was six. and boy i felt it. I was sick for the rest of the night. couldnt even eat dinner (( i need to check my portions every single time!!!
  7. So I tried on some of my capris to wear to my kids soccer game on Saturday, and I turned around and noticed the butt part was completely sagging lol. I asked my husband did they always look like this? He said nope lol. So then this morning, I am getting dressed for work and I have one pair of slacks I could get on but were tight in the waist, and kinda rode up and the bottoms didnt droop past my ankle as they should. I said what the heck lets try them on and they fit me so good now, the waist is perfect, the pant leg falls and is so comfy!! Yay I was so excited That I lost a pant size lol. Just a small victory for me this and thought I would share :girl_hug: Funny thing is I cannot see any difference with any weight loss! My husband can, he said my legs are more thin, and my spare tire is not as inflated rofl.. I am kinda sad I dont see it but maybe I never will really see the weight loss? As anyone else dealt with that? :rolleyes2:

    lost a clothing size woohoo

im so in awe of the band! and our determination to use it as the wonderful tool it is  Great job ladies, we all deserve so much for our accomplishments I am so excited. I cannot wait to see what progress i will make at the end of the year. im sure my weightloss will slow down eventually but hey, (throwing salt over my shoulder) no reason to jinx it lol. i dont want my boobs to go  neither does my husband but all i can pray is that they dont turn into raisins. We are awesome!!

    Inexpensive Bras, A Simple Tip

lol this depressed me as i want to keep my breasts wahhhh but its probably a known fact they will shrink lol. Thank you for the tip because usually I do go to Lane Bryant and pay a fortune for good bras. Next time Im in the valley I will do exactly what you have done. Thanks for sharing :rolleyes2:
  10. Yes I do think it happens for sure in our society. I dont feel I have ever specifically fell victim to it unless it happened without me knowing. I have such a strong personality anyways lol. Of course to be perfectly honest right now it feels like i live in my own little world, go to work, go home, I dont have many friends ( not for the lack of trying). Someone said something on here saying how they couldnt wait for their husband not to have to be everything to them. ( sorry if i misquoted) but boy that really made me look at my relationship with him. right now he is. I am now realizing im not as outgoing as i think i am, and that can of course make people react differently to me. One thing that irritates me deeply is this. I know alot of thin people who think if obese people would just watch what they eat, they would become skinny. Let me tell you, I have observed alot of peoples eating habits, skinny or not, and alot of it is just crapola we are putting into our bodies, fastfood, fried foods, pop. How lucky so many people who are thin are to be able to eat like crap, and not gain weight. wonder if it has anything to do with genetic disposition? Yet they dont try to put the shoe on the other foot and see this.. Like my father in law who always is commenting on my weight in negative ways and looking at me like omg look at her she is so huge lol. I brush it off, however he is not a skinny man and eats like crap too blah lol.
  11. My doc told me the post op diet needs to be protien, veggies, then fruit. I dont plan on eating anything white flour as much as possible such as bread, Pasta, rice, sugary carbs, however i do have like cream of wheat for Breakfast which has some carbs, but not bad carbs. That is my goal, not to cut them out entirely but ensuring im eating food that has good protien and nurtrients. The protien shakes I have do have lowcarb and low sugar content, I want to stray away from that as much as possible. splenda is my friend lol. Im not saying I wont ever have bread pasta or rice again, but sparingly, as before that is probably most of what i ate.

    Bariatric advantage supplements?

I got the bulding blocks vitamins specifically for bariatrics from my surgeons office. ALthough i do need some advice too. im scared to take them in fear they will get stuck lol defeats the purpose haha :rolleyes2: My offices reasoning to specifically take this sort of specialized Vitamin is that research was done and the mix of vitamins offered, help the most with hairloss due to rapid weight loss and lack of absorption. of course lapband doesnt have the absorption issue but we can lack nutrients and still have hair loss. That is why i bought them however, I took the offices word on it.

    Tips and tricks

I think the biggest tip that has helped me is the different things people put into a blender to keep things creative. Im still on liquid diet for three more weeks, and it helps to see different things I can make. I really liked the Peanut Butter smoothie recipe:wub:

9 days post op and bored!!! :(

i feel bad for me too with 4 weeks of liquids lol but doctors orders!! im going to get some lowfat yogurt today to take to work. Hopefully that will stick to my stomach some :cursing: I know the cream of wheat is. I guess its best for me since im not healing fast at all. My port site is killing me with any slight movement i get a horrible pulling pain and have started crying on several occassions. I go back to work tomorrow and even tho its a desk job im not looking forward to moving a certain way and just feeling that intense pain.(( I know it will be worth it in the long run of course. Coughing hurts like a mofo too. blah. I think my stomach is still pretty swollen because even when i drink water it feels like my stomach is pushed out. so weird lol..

9 days post op and bored!!! :(

doctor also has me on full liquid diet for 4 weeks. She said it has to have a constistency of yogurt or thinner. I as well have been going stir crazy. I have been eating soups adding in dried egg whites, cream of wheat, which is good with a teaspoon of splenda, yum, and protien shakes to give me my needed protien. WHen i eat I can only take like 7 sips before I feel full. I am only on my 5th day post op tho. I did blend up chili with some water which was mighty tasty. I figure when im working it will be easier because Ill be busy most of the day. Im considering making a homemade soup but not sure which one yet. Sugar Free Jello is so yummy to me right now. Im going to get some sugar free pudding too as one of my freebies allowed. I cant imagine eating solids already, I just dont want anything to happen to my band. Besides the weight loss im acheiving now is worth me waiting the 4 weeks. I know how you feel tho, I am getting bored with the normal choices of just protien shakes, they almost make me gag now going down lol. My coordinator said to make sure im being creative with my choices.

3rd week on full liquids and getting hungry

i got proti soups and cream of wheat which i have been eating. I can only take a couple sips right now, 4 days post op. I am however getting bored with what i am having already. IM thinking of getting some wendys chili and blending it tonight. I really am craving like an enchilada soup, but i as well need to get protien powder. My husband looked for powdered egg whites but couldnt find them anywhere in the town we live. grrrr..

    any good soup recipes

HI yall, banded on the 15th and am looking for some good soup recipes that is low fat, low carb and that i can add powdered egg whites too for a protien boost. im craving something like enchilada soup or something of that nature lol. I can eat anything that is thinner than yogurt. any suggestions are welcome
  18. I am as well dealing with this from my husband. He does feel guilty eating in front of me, however in saying that he is still eating the same ol crap as before. When i was on my way home from my consult which was a long drive, i was starving and he called me to ask to pick something up for him and the kids. I said ok but cant you do it? Its like hello, dont you think that will tempt me? Of course I have to be strong, but i will also ensure alot of the bad habits my family is in, will be broken too. Great way for everyone to become healthy. When im back on solids, We will be eating the same healthy foods which is good, but I do understand. I canot drink pop yet its in the house.

    Strange?

i as well had a swallow test the day after surgery, so on tuesday, just to ensure liquids were going down as intended. Im still very gassy and bloated and can only drink a couple drinks before i feel like my stomach is going to explode. probably the inflammation. anyhoo, i have been struggling as well to get all my liquids in I need. but im sipping throughout the day here and there. I am still so very sore especially where my port is.
  20. im not hungry at all either. I still have quite a bit of bloating. I have been drinking sips of isopure throughout the day and extreme smoothie protien shake. I also have proti soups i bought in cream of tomato, cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, and chicken noodle. Hubby is going to store tonight to buy powdered egg whites to add to beef up the protien in whatever i eat.( drink really ) lol
  21. Thank you ladies for the note back. Helps to understand that others gone through this and its part of the healing process.
  22. i was also banded on sept 15th. I am very swollen and full of gas. I came hom to find myself weighing 7 pounds more heavier than i did day of surgery and havent really ate anything yet. PRobably from all the swelling and gas buildup. Main issue right now is huge soreness on port side and the gas literally making my stomach as hard as a rock. I have been taking gas x too. I have been wearing a heating pad on my belly and also walking about every 2 hours. I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow but i believe I will take the full week off to give myself plenty of time to heal. They also found a hernia during my surgery and fixed it for me as well. I dont have any hunger yet but am working on 3 oz of protien every hour to ensure proper nutrition. i have a 4 week diet of liquid protien then off to solids. no transition and cant have anything in the first month thicker than yogurt.

    Dealing with the Pre-OP.....

I was on liquid shakes only for 4 days and i spoke to the coordinator who agreed that if i did breakfast and lunch, I could have a small healthy dinner. However I had grilled chicken and green peppers last night. mm so good. but now im seeing my weight isnt dropping. dont know if its because ive just hit a lil hitch. I probably need to start excersing on top of it. tonight for dinner im having half breast chopped up grilled chicken ( grilled in pam) squash, and proti cream of mushroom sauce ( specially designed for bariatrics high protien 70 cals) and drizzling it over my meat and veggies mmm. If i see any gain tomorrow, back to liquid until monday which is my surgery. im so excited!!!
  24. my surgery is scheduled for the 15th, and i just love this site!!! i was viewing the before and after pics and just an overwhelming sense of relief rushed over me. I know Im just beginning my journey but to see the success of so many here, just is so awesome. I cant tell you how encouraging it is, how enlightening, how its a glimpse into the future realizing one day i will be shopping in the womens section and not the plus size! To know I will be more healthy and do the things I love so dear such as softball, volleyball, even joining up soccer!! Riding bikes with my kids, jogging, and just overall knowing I can get my health back!! I cannot tell you how the tears flowed this morning, and the gratefulness that took over to God and to my grandparents for giving this surgery to me as a blessing in my life. ARG even know im all teary. I am so ready!!! I am ready to lose this blasted weight that has plagued me! Thank you to everyone for posting your success to be inspiration to those just starting their journey.
  25. Today I am so nervous. I leave tonight after work for my consult appt tomorrow. I am literally freaking out. Not becaue im nervous about the surgery, I cannot wait for that journey to begin, but because i have had one liver enzyme test come back just above normal on some blood work i have had done in the past and it was consistent. the doctors didnt make anything of it, said it didnt alert them to anything, but i really dont want this to hinder my surgery!!! which is scheduled on monday. ive dropped 10 pounds on the liquid diet so im hoping some of the fat on my liver as dropped. The cards lay as they will however, so i will have an update this weekend on my consult appt. im going in for psych eval at 10:30, my orientation and appts at 11:30, Wow I cant believe its tomorrow. Please keep me in your prayers as i know this surgery will give me a tool to save my life and be around to raise my wonderful children.
