    Clothing Exchange

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone would like to start a clothing exchange? I have many really pretty, nice clothes, size 26-28 and 28-30 that need to go. I'm looking for size 22. In these economic times, I just can't afford to purchase a new wardrobe. If you are a bandster, working your way downward and need these sizes, please email me. Thank you!

Hi, no one responded (other than you) so I donated my 26s, 28s and 30s to Good Will. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Hi Miss Vicki, I don't have a clue what band I have! Sorry! I have a copy of my op report too (I like to keep copies of my op reports for my records) but there is no brand name on it. Thank you for the encouragement! I have a good friend in Rockford, MI; she used to live here in IL and we met as co-workers.

Hi Miss Vicki, good job on your weight loss!!! Keep up the good work. I'm from Illinois, not too close but thought I'd say hello anyway. I was banded on Aug. 6th and have lost 39 pounds since July 15 when I began my preop diet. I've had 2 fills, the second one really did the trick. I have to be very careful to eat slowly, chew well and just take my time or food gets stuck, and that's not pleasant. Anyway, good luck with your fill and keep up the good work! Oh, can't update my ticker, can't remember my pin! lol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Chicks3, I had my first fill a week ago this past Tuesday and felt a difference right away. I am much more restricted as to what I can eat. I just had a small Wendy's chili and ice water and I am full. I too get hungry kinda fast, but I don't think I want my band any tighter, at least not yet. Bummer that you woke up hungry! That's not good. My doc won't tell me how much my band holds or how many cc's he used when he filled it, just that he likes to go slow, and I'm good with that. My stomach really growls in the morning until I eat breakfast, there's no doubt, but my chocolate protein milk drink fills me up if I drink it slow enough. I am definitely ready for mealtimes. Hopefully some others will have some advice for you too... Good luck!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Harplayer, I began my journey last January when I met with the surgeon for the first time. He gave me a 2-page letter of my preop instructions to qualify; psych, GI, pulmonologist, lab tests, EKG, as well as my proven efforts to lose weight, in my case WWs, which when compiled, consisted of over a year worth of trying, though not consecutive and from two + years ago. Once I got through all that stuff, it was submitted to BC/BS and 4 weeks later they called, and 2 weeks later I was banded. I could've done it sooner, but I really took my time because we visited our daughter in Germany, she visited here, and I had a 50th birthday month-long celebration too (or so it seemed)! lol I did a lot of praying too, that this was the right thing for me, and if it was meant to be, it would be. I've been blessed...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, I like the EAS chocolate fudge and vanilla whey protein, both from WalMart. EAS comes in a four-pack, pre-made, the whey protein comes in a big plastic jug that you have to mix.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Littlebit, I had to go on the 2-week preop diet - so I had protein shakes twice a day then a normal supper; I had the whey protein and the EAS. I also tried an Atkins shake which I didn't care for. The EAS is very rich and I thought pretty yummy. Almost felt like a cheat! lol I was banded on August 6th. I've lost 35 since July 15 when I began the preop diet. I exercise at the Y 4-5 times a week. Most breakfasts consist of a chocolate milk protein drink (chocolate Carnation instant breakfast, no sugar added, powdered milk and skim milk). I tried the low-sugar quaker oats brown sugar/cinnamon oatmeal and yuck. I'm looking for healthy warm choices for the cold upcoming Illinois winter! I try to make enough chicken or whatever for supper so that I've got some for lunch the next day to heat up. Good luck to you!!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, I like the vanilla whey protein from WalMart - and it's a great source of protein. I used the blender and added ice cubes & water. I liked them. I also like the EAS chocolate ones, also at WalMart. It's pre-mixed and also tastes good. The Atkins Advantage bars are yummy for when you get to that point too.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Congrats Harplayer! How exciting for you. I'm glad my preop process is over, but it has all been worth it. Just so you know, PBing is productive burping, aka throwing up a little bit. It's happened to many of us when we over-eat, don't chew well enough, etc. I found a spot on this website that explains a lot of the acronyms, maybe somebody knows exactly where it is... hopefully someone will respond to that. Good luck to you!!!

Yes, it goes in the signature area. I had a terrible time myself; finally got it. Good luck!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Good luck Elayne! Keep trudging forward. BC/BS accepted my WW cards, which weren't even for the previous 6 months. I had to follow a 1000 calorie diet for two weeks before surgery and lost 9 pounds in that time frame. So far, it's all been worth it!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Katydid, it's called productive because a little bit of food (or water in my case) comes up. I know what you mean about the belching thing - I try to be so careful because it does feel good to release that gas, but I think I'd die of embarassment if somebody heard me! lol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Katy, thank you for writing, and good luck to you! PB (I learned last night) means productive burping. I ate a little too much and tried to wash it down with water, which came right back up. Someone recommended pineapple juice as it helps wash it down. I may try that. Feel free to ask more questions as they come along, though I'm still learning. I just got my "ticker" on today (the weight loss count-down). There are neat instructions that I hadn't seen, and people here are so helpful too!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Longin', I guess great minds do think alike. I loved the turkeys with the pumpkin. I thought they were festive for the season. Good job on the weight loss. My surgeon will not tell his patients how many cc's he's putting in - he feels "people are to obsessive about cc numbers." I don't know how much I got for my first fill, but I definitely can tell a difference. Yay!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi! Thank you so much for all of your help. I do have MySpace (because my grown girls kept posting the pictures I longed to see there).... My site is boring though - one daughter is in Germany with her military DH and my other is in college down-state. We're empty nesters... My DH has lost 22 pounds since I began my journey. He's so helpful and supportive. I'm sooooo lucky!!! Thank you again! Oh, how do you like my ticker?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! My DH is going to help me now! yay!
  20. Hi Juliana, I hope things are going well for you! I haven't been on much; this site frustrates me so much - I have a terrible time navigatign - finding messages from people, trying to pretty up my profile, etc. I transcribe for a living, so it's really frustrating when I can't get it... anyway, I've lost 35 pounds now.. had my first fill, can really feel the restriction, and that's a good thing. Please write again, but keep in mind, I have a hard time finding my messages.. :(

    Take care! Lory

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thank you for your help... Teresa, will keep you in my prayers... so sorry for your loss. Had hospice for both my parents, became a volunteer myself as they were so helpful. Wish I could pay someone to fix my profile! lol Good luck everyone! Lory

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi everyone, just trying out some new profile stuff. Took me forever to figure out how to find the ticker page and hopefully I've copy and pasted it where it belongs. I want a cute profile like ya'll have! lol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi everyone! I have a few questions... regarding acronyms - what is PBing, and what is HD - or was it DH (when referring to a spouse I assume)? Had my LB on Aug. 6th, first fill Sept. 16th. Noticed a difference right away, but doing well. I think I read about foaming - happened to me tonight for the first time. My hubby and I went to dinner at a Chinese place - hadn't eaten much but all of a sudden it was in my throat and I made the mistake of trying to wash it down with water. Thank goodness I made it to the bathroom as the water wanted back out. Finally excused myself and went to the car and brought it home. Either the broccoli was too hard and I didn't chew it well enough or the little bit of rice stuck. What a scary feeling tho.. Oh, I don't know how to set up those cute weight loss lines either. Is there a place I can go to become more "savvy" I'm down 35 and feeling great. Everything is big on me. Yay!! Many sizes to grow into... Thank you for any help you can provide! Lory
