That's the day I had my bypass! I'm glad you are doing so well too. Maybe that day was a lucky day. I came home from the hospital weighing 7 lbs more then when I went in, so maybe your body is still just slowly losing the swelling and extra fluids from the surgery itself. You are doing great with the exercise, at least to me. I am barely up to walking half a mile every morning on my treadmill. I'm working on adding more but its slow going atm. Welcome to the group!

Starting 2nd week after surgery. I am off my metformin and blood sugar levels are excellent. I do feel a bit week and had only one slight dizzy spell. Wounds are healing quite well. Tiny bit of bruising. Vitamins and Proteins are easy to consume and tracking everything with 'my fitness' app. I did find it not too much fun at the supermarket today. My old brain wanted buy things I know I will most likely never eat again. But I'm ok with that . I have found that Ido have a tendency to swallow air when I drink fluids and I'm working on slowing right down to a crawl with it. I tilt my head back a bit and swallow. Seems a bit weird but it works for me.

I've had the gastric bypass Sept 19 . I started at 265.5 lbs 2 weeks before surgery and on the day of my surgery I was 250 lbs. I started to track my weight from then and have slowly lost 5.5 lbs in my first week. I do seem to have not lost anything for three days but I do see and feel my body structure changing. I have been mobile more the last few days and I am starting to track that also. Today I walked about 1km and will be adding more distance daily. Maybe will incorporate the treadmill in my buildings exercise room.

I'm glad I found this group and look forward to reading and responding to people questions. I'm sure I will have some and I am happy to answer any I can for others. Thanks. Cheers from Toronto Canada. !!

You have a very low starting weight compared to many. Stay in touch with your doctor/nutritionist and see what they say. Track food.

Totally agree with that especially weight loss and moving through stages of food! But kellyarw95 and NewmeDC, here are a few practical things that I learned:
You will be very, very tired when you get home. I don’t recall nausea (I know for sure I didn’t vomit) but the gas is for real. Walking helps and a heating pad on your back/shoulders. Take it slow and do laps in your house. I didn’t experience too much pain but definitely needed meds for the whole week mainly for the laparoscopic incisions and the largest one has some really deep internal sutures that are painful. Stay hydrated - tiny, tiny sips of Water. You can figure out Protein later but you will 100 legit not be hungry - it’s weird.
Forget it if you are a side sleeper…invest in a back support pillow because you will need it. I’ve also seen that a lot of people lounge/sleep in a recliner…if I had it to do over again I would likely have invested in one. Roll out of bed holding a pillow to your tummy and letting gravity assist. Do not lift heavy things or reach for things overhead/down low. Hope that’s helpful. Good luck!

I think everything is normal because everyone is different. It could be so many things that effect weight loss. . Just keep following your program and give it more time. Everyone looses at different rates and maybe next week you will have a large loss or maybe you will be slow by steady and still reach your goal. Hugs! Its hard not to have huge losses after going through all of this. But its going to be a long journey so don't stress too much, just keep at it and every little pound will add up.

About 7-8 weeks in, you will wake up feeling absolutely wonderful, you really will. Now a year later, I kind of miss the not hungry feeling.

So yesterday was a pretty off day for myself. I’m 15 days post opt from gastric bypass and been doing ok so far . The pain comes and goes and there are days where it feels like I can actually fill my incisions. Been on the soft purée food , applesauce cream of wheat I tried smushed green Beans with Tilapia and mashed potatoes.. went down ok i honesty severe 3 ounces but only I take about 1 1/2 oz trying little by little . Also tried scrambled eggs but it was a no go to eat without being able to wash it down with a drink . But I have to say that I think I got frustrated or not sure I just began crying and crying and not benign sure why … and I told my wife that eating now seems like a chore and not really have the get up and do it feeling … I know it’s temp but it worries me and makes me sad but I’m taking it as well it just yesterday todays is a new day !!! Hope everyone has a great weekend 😀

It will get better, your body is healing and adjusting. Just stick with it and the weight will come off.
Same with your energy levels, you are eating barely any calories right now, your body is healing so you are going to be beat.
Try to keep your head up and you will get through the slump.

Hi! I'm 3 weeks out and having a hard time. Where do I start? My energy level is all over the place, mostly low. I'm still on pureed, but not really tolerating much so Eating anything now just feels like a chore. And I've only lost 12 pounds since the surgery (14 pounds before surgery).
PLEASE tell me this will get better and I'll be able to enjoy my life again!
P.S. I'm not usually this negative, I'm just so frustrated with this process.

I felt the same way before my surgery. I didn't want to get to excited in case something happened and it was canceled. Sounds like you are set though! Good luck on tuesday.

    Hi! Newbie here!

I've been lurking forever but couldn't bring myself to post because I just KNEW that something would happen somehow and I wouldn't be able to get my surgery, but... I had my final pre-op testing a couple of days ago and everything went great, so here I am! It's very weird to go from "I'm scared to get my hopes up so I won't even think about the surgery" to realizing that my surgery is on Tuesday and I need to start getting ready.

I'm in Norway so my surgery is covered by the national health care system, but there was a whole process I had to go through - visit with an obesity specialist, a nutritionist, mandatory group classes... it seemed impossibly long when I first started, but wow, it has really flown by.
