I'm kicking myself right now!!
That does explain it a lot better. You still shouldn't beat yourself up. You did it mindlessly that time, but you recognized it for what it was. You didn't go and grab more. I think that is a step in the right direction. I think you did yourself proud! You stopped at one! We will all do that at some point. As long as you see it for what it is (something you shouldn't eat everyday), then you are ok.

Exclusions in my Policy
When they exclude WLS they usually spell it out saying that any type of WLS is not covered. What you quoted is usally for things like Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, etc.. If you can't find anything that specifically mentions WLS (mentioned as adjustable gastric banding and gastric bypass) then they probably have special qualifications. They won't list everything that they cover, but they will list what they don't. Call them and ask. Ask for it to be broken down and emailed to you. I emailed my insurance company, and they sent me a complete list of requirements for surgery. Good luck to you.

I'm kicking myself right now!!
Don't beat yourself up for one candy bar! :confused:You are allowed to have that sort of thing every once in a while. You just don't want to make it a habit. Just let that go and start over with your next meal.

I really need some encouragement...
Thank you so much. I haven't named it yet. I have been thinking about it though. I am not very creative, so I am having a hard time coming up with something. I had my upper GI this morning. I have to admit, that barium was almost a deal breaker for me. I almost gagged drinking that stuff. :puke:I know, so gross. They gave me a barf bag and moved back. I almost laughed at that. Anyway, you will be there soon. We will be on this site next year and we won't even be able to remember what it was like before the surgery. Good luck to you, and I will keep you in my prayers also.

wooo whooo, I have made it through my 1st month
Along with the band come alot of major changes in my life. I not only had this procedure done, but the same day I had it done was the last day that I had a cigarette. I have been smoke free for an entire month, and giving them up was alot easier than giving up my food, I will tell you that now. ________________________________________________________________________ Look at you! That is so awesome! I will be looking to your posts when I need encouragement next week! You keep up the good work!

Retaking my psych eval... :/
I guess I got off easy. My evaluation lasted maybe an hour. I filled out a one page questionaire that took 5 minutes then answered about 50 questions about my history. That was it. we actually talked most of the time just about life with the band. I did pay for it, but it was just $95 for my psych evaluation and nutrition class. Good luck to everyone.

Denied because of psych eval... why?
I think I am reading that book right now! The book I am reading is called "Weight Loss Surgery with Adjustable Gastric Band." I just got it today.

dreading the pre-op diet...
Ham and cheese...:cool2: I am having surgery on the 25th. I was originally supposed to have it on October 2. They called me Monday morning to change it. I was so excited! Then it hit me, I can't have solid food again for over a month! I made a quick trip to the store and "splurged" for the bouillon with herbs. Ha! Just salty Water with herbs. :w00t: Me too!

dreading the pre-op diet...
See, I think that is my problem. Since they moved my surgery up, I didn't get my one day of gorging that I had planned.:cool2: My mom's birthday is tomorrow, but she is having mouth surgery tomorrow:thumbdown:, so I knew that they were going to take her out to eat today. My surgeon's office calling on Monday really just threw me off. Oh well, that is ok because I am that much closer to a new start! Good luck to you too!

dreading the pre-op diet...
I started my pre-op diet on Monday. I am allowed 6 Glucerna shakes a day, 2 yogurts, and all of the calorie free liquids I want (i.e. broth, sf jello). I have to say that now on day 3, I am not that hungry. I was starving yesterday when I had to cook something for my 11 year old. I finally had to tell myself to back away from the fish stick!:frown: I don't even like fish sticks, but I was ready to shove my son out of the way for one. My shakes smell/taste like medicine. I really hate the vanilla. I tried added flavoring to it, but you can still smell that awful mediciny smell. gross! I am going to keep going though. I don't want them to cut me open only to say "no surgery for you!" like Surgery Nazi (i know poor Seinfeld reference). Good luck to you all!

something I have to get off my chest.....I HATE PCOS!!!
You know, that is probably what caused my mom to have a hysterectomy in her late 20s early 30s. She had most of the same symptoms that I have now. I have to admit that, at times, I wish they would let me have a hysterctomy. I am so tired of the extra hair on my face and the acne. I don't have thyroid problems at this point. My PCP thought that might be part of my problem when I first started having my PCOS symptoms. She finally just said metabolic syndrome for my weight gain and insulin resistance. She put me on the metformin about 3 years ago. My GYN finally diagnosed the PCOS this year.

Chewing sugar free Jellybelly's until they ooze is not considered a liquid!
ROFL:lol: Thank you so much. I needed to laugh this morning! I may be able to embrace my bad breath, but I am not sure anyone else will want to.

Amen! ROFL:lol: You all are so funny!

I really need some encouragement...
That is too funny! You need to have something prepared for when at least one of them asks to see a picture of the "baby."
