  1. True and your point is? I don't even know what to say anymore....totally pathetic Why is it that comments like these go largely unnoticed but the "other" comment warranted a scolding from a moderator??? This person is CLEARLY attacking another person for a physical trait and nothing is said directly to them to stop this??? Does it make a difference if the party being attacked is not present on this board, so that makes it ok? It is soooo obvious what's going on here. Now you seem paranoid? BTW, I'm NOT a republican. I just happen to believe that name calling is soooo childish and has no place either in politics or any other aspect of our lives. Well, I believe the Republic party has screwed over the American people for years, but since I live in the real world my beliefs don't necessary change things just because that’s what I believe. I expect that this person will be told in no uncertain terms that the personal attacks will stop. OUTRAGEOUS I am not personally attacking you or anyone else on this thread. I am sure you have or in the past had opinions about public figures. If you haven't well that's you. I am done engaging in the discussion on this topic.
  2. And I don't think that is a great way to make a point on a site where everyone is dealing with or was dealing with their weight issues. Like is said before, you are not...
  3. Sorry you all feel so offended by my saying he has stumpy arms. He does, get over it. Why don't you repubs have anything else to bring to the discussion besides that. Oh, because you have nothing else to bring. Get over it. Yes he has stumpy arms and thats a fact. Deal with it.
  4. I didn't know there was fluid in the band when you first get it. Is it true there is fluid in the band with Dr. K patients?

    Just banded and really unsure

I was banded nine days ago and I made sure I stayed on top of taking my pain medicine. I still take Tylenol liquid because I have pain at my port site and sitting at work makes it hard to concentrate if I am in pain. It’s not unbearable, but enough to be distracting. I also had a hard time with breathing after surgery, but doing the breathing tube really helped. Actually, before the surgery I used to cough a lot. Now for reason, I don't cough anymore. They gave me an Albuturol treatment (for my asthma) before surgery and after the surgery, I was very consistent with using the breathing tube (even though it hurt) so I think it helped clear things up. I gets better as time goes by so just hang in there and have positive thoughts along the way.
  6. I just called my doctors office and told them what I had been eating and when I started eating like that. They told me I was fine with what I had been doing. They said they just dont want any foods to get stuck or for me to throw up. As long as everything goes down without any problems then I will be fine. Throwing up jeapordizes the surgery so avoid that at all costs. They said by the end of weeks 3 and 4 is when I will really start to get hungry as that is when the stomach swelling goes down. I assume that is why they schedule a first fill a month out.:cool2:
  7. I was banded on Sept 22nd and did the clear liquids for 3 days then moved onto blending soups in the blender and also adding water to dilute it. I'm also doing the EAS protein drinks. One EAS takes me all day to finish. Sometimes it takes 2 days to finish. Today I made some mac and cheese with ground beef and put it into the blender with some water to dilute it. There were no clumps. I plan on eating like that until a month is up. I mostly eat blended soups with water added. It is keeping me satisfied. I hope I'm not doing the wrong thing. Sometimes I wonder if I'm pushing it. I am going to check in with my doctor tomorrow to see if I'm messing myself up.

    Any September Banders?

Wow Bobbie, sorry you are feeling so tired. I was banded on the 22nd of September and I feel back to my old self with the exception of port soreness. Each day seems to get a lot easier. You might want to talk to your doctor and let him know you are so tired. I don't think this is normal, but then again others may be experiencing the same thing as you. It will be interesting to hear what other LBer's experiences have been so far. I hope it gets better for you soon. Hang in there.
  9. What? Are you kidding me. Wow, I always thought you weren't wrapped to tight when I read your prior posts on other threads, but after that comment I am that completly conviced that you aren't wrapped to tight.
  10. Ok, enough with the conversations on the stumpy arms issue. I will still use it to describe him so you’re beating a dead horse. I understand you are upset with it and I get it. We all have our thoughts about the candidates and we know we have real issues of concern. Can we move on to more substantive issues please?:cursing:
  11. Wow, you are waaaay out there. I'm not in line with anything you've just stated.:cursing:
  12. What are you talking about? I don't understand.
  13. Hey abraberger,

I hope everything went well for you.

  14. Wow April 11 pounds since surgery. I haven't lost anything. I have been so bloated and I have only been doing liquids as well. I want to start working out but I want to wait till after the three weeks is up. I want to give my body a change to heal. Yesterday at work I was in pain at the port site so I had to take some pain meds. Today is 9 days out.

Congrats on the weight loss to date. You must be doing this thing right.

  15. How is calling Obama out on his differences racism. He is a black man running for President. Are you saying the fact that he is black and someone saying he is black is racist? My description of McCain is just that, a description of his physical characteristics. If you feel it is name calling that is your right to feel what you feel. You might just have to work through getting past that or not.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I am 8 days out and back to work. The only issues I am having is that my stomach is bloated and my port site still hurts. I removed two of my bandages and the scars are healing very well. They might end up being very small. I am still taking Extra Strength Tylenol. I still need it. I have been pureeing my food since about 3 or 4 days after surgery. Anything that fits through a straw is what my post op diet said. I hope I haven't been overdoing it. I eat maybe 800 or so calories a day. I haven't dropped any weight even though my caloric intake has been greatly reduced. Does anyone else still have a bloaded stomach with port pain?
  17. You see what the facts are. Just look at the news. Enough said.
  18. There is nothing low about it. Truth is truth. Deal with it or don't. Just because you don't agree doesn't change the fact. Yes, it is unfortunate that this happend to him during that time. I usually don't call people out on their physical differences, but this is one person that I must. You can say what you want and feel what you feel. It doesn't change a thing for me.:cool2:
  19. Wow, I am surprised with all of the throwing up that your band has not slipped. You have been lucky if it hasn't. I would recommend finding a doctor and go see him immediately.
  20. Well seeing as stumpy arms got that way by being and tortured, I find it ironic that he is so eager to keep fighting the war in Iraq for as long as it takes and sending our women and men to fight a war that we never should have been fighting in the first place. He has a bad temper and likes playing war with other peoples lives. He is quick to snap to a judgment without thinking things through. Look how he said "stop everything" including the debate so we can concentrate on the bail out crisis. Apparently, he can only focus on one thing at a time. I am glad Obama called him out on the fact that the commander and chief has to be able to focus on more than one thing at a time. His judgment is extremely questionable. Some conservative republicans are already starting to admit that Sarah Palin needs to drop out and questioning McCain’s judgment. She is a joke. Jack, I think your views fall in line with the old establishment. We need new leadership with new ideas. Out with the old ways that haven’t been working. Let’s try something new.
  21. Sarah Palin has no clue. Why don't the repubs let her speak to us? Are they scared? Saturday Night Live didn't even have to make up a skit to make fun of her. They used her actual words to do it. That is very scary. McCain still shows he is nothing more than an all over the place war monger. He is too old and his judgment to put someone as ridiculous and Sarah Palin as his second in command demonstrates his extremely poor lack of judgment. He is angry and is not level headed enough to deal with the issues we have facing our country. We can't go everywhere and declare war on everyone who doesn't do as we say. We have to be able to unite with others. We need to improve our standing in the world instead of continue alienating ourselves. He claims he loves the vets. Well most of the vets I know don't love him and think he is a liar. He hasn't supported them the way he claims he has. The fact that he can't look at his opponent while in a debate tells me there are some severe underlying issues McCain is harboring. He is running to represent all people not just the few. I cannot take a possible four years of looking at his short stumpy arms and chipmunk face or dealing with the soccer mom's mentality who has no clue as to what the hell is going on in the real world outside of the little bubble she lives in and her voice OMG!!!!

    Treadmill VS Elliptical

I too was an elliptical fan, but I recently bought a bodybugg to track how many calories I was burning on each machine. According to the bodybugg, the calories I was burning on the treadmill were more than what I was burning on the elliptical. 5.7 cals per minute on the treadmill vs. 3.4 cals per minute on the elliptical. I found that amazing seeing as it seemed I was working harder on the elliptical. Now I do about 15 mins on the elliptical at hardest level for muscle building and 45 mins on the treadmill.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

You will do fine on Monday. Dr. K is great and skilled. The first two days were the hardest for me but now five days out I feel totally normal. I never had the gas pains just like Dr. K said I wouldn't. I am eating pureed soups and don't feel any restriction so everything goes down fine. I am not back to feeling the normal hunger that I did before being banded and I take in about 800 cals or so. I go back to work on your surgery morning and will be thinking of you wishing you a sucessful surgery and a speedy recovery. Check in as soon as you can so we know you are okay. Just relax, be positive and happy about the decision you have made. Happy banding!
