PLEASE read all the fine print and be prepared for the possible side affects of lap-band surgery.  I lost a lot of hair and I still have severe pains in my left shoulder, and burp constantly.  Every day I have a pinched nerve feeling in my left shoulder/neck.  So much so that I want to have my band removed when I can afford it (insurance will not cover removal).  I was never morbidly obese and just wanted to get banded to really kick start my weight loss and keep it off.  Looking back I wish I would not have done it.  It IS NOT a quick fix, you HAVE to work at it and follow a TON of rules.  The band does NOT curb your cravings!!!  Do your research, read blogs, and follow the diet/food plan for a few months prior to your surgery to make sure you can live this type of lifestyle.  You may find that by following the diet and moderate exercise that the weight will start coming off on it's own.  I am hearing better results from the 'sleeve'.  Good luck!
