  1. On a few occasions I would order wonton soup from a Chinese restaurant - just the broth.... it really hit the spot and offset some of the sweetness from the shakes. Good luck... you've got this!
  2. Be thankful you get anything besides shakes. I had 3 weeks of 3 meal replacement shakes a day. ( Could have SF jello, broth and sf popsicles) but no solid food of any kind. To make matters worse, I work in an Elementary school and it was the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas break. There were treats in the teacher lounge - where I eat lunch - EVERYDAY! I used it as an opportunity to practice my self control. I also lost an additional 20 pounds leading up to my surgery! Drink plenty of water and keep yourself busy.

Recovery TImes / Back to work

I had sleeve surgery and went back to work after 2 weeks. I work in a school and am on my feet for most of the day... I didn't have any problems.

    Getting home

I had sleeve surgery on a Wed and drove home on Thurs - 4 hours away. (well I didn't drive, my husband did) We stopped every 45 mins so I could walk (to prevent blood clots) I had no issues, but will 2nd the suggestion of making sure you have pillow for your lap.
  5. I have 5 small incisions from my VSG. For the most part, I wouldn't even know that 4 of them are there - they have caused almost no pain at all. But.... the one where they pulled out my stomach... is crazy bruised and is still very painful 9 days PO. It doesn't hurt all the time, only when I engage my stomach muscles, when I stand up, get out of bed, and OMG the pain when I sneeze. I haven't really seen anyone comment on this. Anyone else have this? To be honest, it's more painful than my c-section incisions were.
  6. I was sleeved on 12/21 and my weight has stayed the same since day 4 PO. I am following Dr.s orders. I had a 3 week LRD with no actual food - so I figure this is my 3 week stall. Just keep doing what you are supposed to and the weight will come off.

    First days

I didn't have that much nausea so I can't answer that. I wouldn't think so. Did your Dr. not give you something for nausea? I am so sick of Protein shakes so I can sympathize. I end up drinking more of the protein waters. But, I have been using my Ninja Bullet to make more of a milkshake. I use Isopure (flavorless) protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, ice and then flavor it using sugarfree flavorings. It really makes it much easier for me to get them down. I'm sorry you are still dealing with nausea even after 2 weeks. Maybe reach out to your Dr. for advice.

    First days

I'm only 10 days out from VSG and it really does get a little better every day. Plain water hurt worse that one of the Gatorade zero type drinks - not sure why. As everyone else will tell you, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk! Good luck - you've got this!
  9. I really like my Dr., but that is something he didn't cover and I didn't think to ask. It's getting better every day, but is still painful.
  10. We don't have a recliner and our couch is not good for sleeping at all... so I have no other choice. I have figured out how to get in and out without too much pain, it just sleeping flat on my back that is annoying. I usually flip and flop all night. stomach, both sides and back.
  11. Thank you all for your responses on your experience. I have seen people ask or post about everything but this. If I was the only one, I definitely would have reached out to my Dr. It is getting better, but I still can't sleep any way except on my back and it's driving me crazy. Happy New Year to you all!😚

    Post-op day 3 and struggling

Same here. Day 3 for me as well and the only that goes down without any pain is SF popsicles. Plain water hurts the worst. Can't wait until tomorrow, I can have SF jello pudding and yogurt.
  13. kat_8807 how are you feeling? I had mine yesterday as well. Gas paid after surgery and last night was no joke. Feeling much better today, but drinking is hard.
  14. I had mine yesterday as well! How are you doing? Had pretty bad gas pains last night and only a few today. Mine was done as outpatient.. Went back about 10 and was out of there by 3:30. Water goes down ok some sip and causes pains with others. Looking forward to SF pudding and or yogurt on Saturday!

My date is also 12/21!!!! My pre-op diet starts on 11/27 (not looking forward to doing it for 3 weeks!!)
  17. Just checking to see if anyone has used Dr. Doucette w/ Alabama Surgical Associates in Huntsville, AL.

    Muscle weakness

I have a weird question for you. Any chance you recently started taking a statin? My FIL (78) was in a trial where they were given statins as a preventative measure... within a week, his knee gave out and he had muscle weakness (mostly in the one leg). He stopped immediately, and it has taken several months to get back to normal.
  19. I'm in GA, but am working with Alabama Surgical Associates. https://www.alweightlosscenter.com/payment-options/self-pay-pricing/. I have UHC and our policy doesn't cover any bariatric procedures. So far I had a phone consult with Dr. Doucette. He wants me to lose 30 pounds before surgery - which because of my work schedule should be the end of Dec. I have a weight check in call with the Dr. in 2 weeks.

    January 2023

Not in January, but hopefully Dec 21st. ( I work in a school so I wanted to make sure I have 2 full weeks before going back to work)
  22. Hi, I've not yet had surgery, but I have eaten the Think Crunch Protein bars for over 5 years. They usually run between 13-14 grams of protein and only 5 grams of sugar. (11 carbs) I like them because they are more like a wafer and it's a different consistency than most protein bars. They are about 200 calories for each bar. I'm not sure how well they will work as part of a post surgery nutrition plan, but the were a staple in my diet during my WW days.
