  1. So. I have a question for those have gotten to or gotten close to their goal weight... I know there's always an issue with a people having saggy skin and possibly getting plastic surgery, but what about saggy boobs? Have you guys had it so bad that you wanted to or have had a breast lift? I have 42 DD cup size and I know that those are the first things to go when you lose weight and I just want to know what everyone else has gone through. My boobs sag right now which is sad since I"m 25 years old, and I don't even want to know what they look like when I lose 100 pounds.
  2. Hey I was just wondering if you guys that have gotten to or close to your goal weight have gotten excess skin. I've spoken with different people who have had the Lap Band and some have loose skin, and some don't. I just want to know how many of you guys do? I'm still at the beginning of my journey. I have 105 pounds to lose. I'm really worried about the excess skin I'm going to get and that's why I'm hitting the gym at least a couple times a week. I will be going more often in the next month or so. I just wanted to take it easy since I only had the surgery 2 weeks ago. I know it also depends on age and the elasticity of your skin. I'm 25 so I hope that I'm OK. How many of you are dealing with this?

    SIL - Single Incision Lapband

I had my surgery on November 13th, 2009. I had the SIL as well. I don't think there are lot of patients on here that have had it or know about it since it's pretty new. When I feel my stomach, I do feel that the port is just above the belly button. I believe that is normal. I just followed up with my surgeon and he said everything is fine. I've been feeling some restriction at times, but then other times I feel like I can go to the buffet -- which i won't. When I feel the port itself- - I do to feel it very well. I have not tried drinking that much in one sitting. I don't honestly think it's healthy for your band though. When is your postop appointment?

    What does restriction feel like?

I'm only 2 weeks out from surgery and I'm currently on the soft foods stage. (My doctor told me to move up to that because of the weightloss and I was ready for it) I have to tell you that what I feel is kind of like a lump in the throat. You know when you feel like you're going to burp but just can't quite get it out? That's kind of what I feel. On 2 occasions I overate or ate the wrong type of food and it just felt like it was stuck. I didnt' feel that I was nausiated but just that it was stuck and I needed to get it out by throwing up. I hope this helps a little.

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

I was banded November 13, 2009. I was fortunate to get the single incision lapband (SILS) and I have only one incision in my belly button. For those who don't understand how it's done here's a youtube animation - Anyway. I was on clear liquids for about 5 days then I was told to skip full liquids and move to puree. I was on puree for a week and now I'm on soft foods. I had my surgery on 11/13/09 and by 11/18/09 I lost 15 pounds and my surgeon was concerned. The Sunday after surgery I had to go to the ER because I was in so much pain and the liquid Loritab they gave me was not working.:cursing: Just so you know I have a high tolerance to pain meds so I have to usually take the stronger stuff. I went to the ER and they gave me 2 shots of Dilauded and 1 shot of Toridol while I was there for the whole 10 hours. We had to wait for the surgeon on call for the Bariatric Surgeon's group to make rounds. He gave me a perscription for percocet and that really helped me get through the pain from the incision and the gas pain. I would have to say the worst part was layind down in bed and then having to sit up. I felt like my incision was going to pop out. I did take GasX for the gas pain and that seemed to help. I could not really do any chores around the house as it really hurt to bend over and stretch my stomach. I took off 10 days of work . I'm at the end of my workweek and I would have to say it was the hardest time. I was just so exhausted:sleep: I have an appointment December 1st to follow up with my surgeon and possibly get my first fill. I'm still at about 15 pounds lost. Here's my youtube video channel that documents my journey so far - YouTube - jlind4023's Channel
  6. So.... after taking 10 days off of work I finally went back tonight. I work night shift doing 12 hour shifts. I was ok when I got there. I was confident I would make it cause I even went to the gym yesterday and walked for a half hour on the treadmill. I work as a unit secretary in labor and delivery at the hospital. So I sit a lot. I thought that would be easy. Boy was I wrong.:eek:s Just sitting upright in a chair like that squeezes my incision since I got the SILS(single incision lapband surgery) and my incision is 2 inches in the bellybutton. I guess all those rolls of fat sitting upright causes it to hurt. :woot::cursing: So I took some Tylenol and thought I'd be ok. I wasn't.I even tried working standing up but the damage was done.:crying::crying::crying::thumbup:I worked from 7PM - 2:30AM -- I had to go home I was in so much pain and I took some percocet. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can comfotable in that position? I work tonight so I need help getting more comfortable fast.
  7. So I thought that it would be a cool idea if you want if we can add each other as friends on facebook. I know it may a lil' confusing if you have a lot of friends from high school, college, work, etc. So what I do is I organize my list of friends by groups. I'm personally going to add a specific group for friends from Lapbandtalk.com and youtube. So if you want to be friend add me. Feel free to post your facebook profile link on here if you want. http://www.facebook.com/jessica.kolman?ref=profile

    Pain!

I got banded on November 13th as well. I had the single incision lap band so the one incision is in my belly button. Man does it hurt. It really hurts when I bend over or bend up, like getting out of bed or something. More recently I've had some left sided pain around the port area. I've also had pain in my left shoulder collar bone area. I was originally taking liquid loritab for the pain but I ended up in the ER over the weekend cause I was screaming in pain so they gave me percocet 10mg and that has helped a lot. I'm planning on going back to work this monday. Thankfully I work as a secretary so not a lot of pushing pulling or lifting. Here's a closeup of my incision the day of surgery -- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums4509-picture26758.jpg And here's the incision 5 days after -- it sure has bruised a lot. --- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums4540-picture26947.jpg
  12. Does this incision look normal?? I had lapband November 13th. I know it looks bruised but I've never seen anything like this. BTW I had the single incision lap band. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/45089-albums4540-picture26947.jpg

Help! Does this incision look normal??

Thanks guys. I'm not having any other issues like fever or whatnot, and I don't believe it's infected, I just was shocked when I looked at it this morning. I have a post op visit on December 1st. Hopefully by then the bruise will be looking better. Thanks!

  15. So I just gotta vent... Nov 13 was the day I got baned.. so as you know I'm still on my liquids.... Last night my husband and I went to his aunts for dinner. I brought my protein shake but they had pasta and chicken parmesean my fav!!! I was about to cry sitting at the table just smelling it. I wanted to just put in my mouth and spit it out, but I know that wouldn't be cool. My weakness has always been Italian food. This is going to be a tough patch to get through as far as eating liquids.. But I can do it!!:w00t:

    Starving!

Hey -- I to, got banded November 13th!! I'm drinking all clear fluids with the exception of Protein shakes. I was starving and I had no energy so I go the go ahead to do the shakes. My doctor told me to have 2oz of the shake every hour. That's a lot of drinking! I'm sure once you start that you'll feel better. I can't wait to progress to full liquids, I'm gonna call and see if theres any way to eat full liquids sooner. I'm gonna add you as a friend as you had the surgery the same day as me and I like having friends to go through the same stages together. Keep us posted.

How soon did you have sex post-op?

I'm kind of a prude. Since being on antidepressants it had for sure decreased my sex drive. My poor husband:( The last thing I want to do is have sex when I'm in this much pain as it is. But if I do, I think I'm going to wait at least 2 weeks.

I hate people eating around me!

Yeah, I'm lucky to have a supportive husband who keeps reminding me that I'm doing this for nothing. Since I've had the surgery besides going to peoples houses, he's been eating on the way home or eating when I'm not there. People out there don't understand a lot about the lap band the food restrictions with it, so we just have educate our friends and family and let them understand that this is a very strict plan. I wish you guys luck on your weight loss journey!
  22. Girl -- I'm having the same problem. Although I'm not as far into my post op diet as you. I'm in week 1 of clear liquids. However last night I went to m aunts house and she was serving pasta ( my weakness) and I thought I was going to cry cause it was just salivating in my mouth. I know this is going to be hard, but I IT WILL GET BETTER!

I hate people eating around me!

I hope so guys!! I'm not going to eat any of the stuff that I'm not supposed to eat, trust me!! I'm almost done with Clear Liquids, then it's on to full liquids! I should just look forward to week after week. I'm trying to avoid going out if I'm going to be around people who eat. This is a struggle, but in the end, it's so worth it!:w00t:
  24. So tomorrow is my surgery. I have to be there at 5:15AM for 7:15 surgery. I'm sooo excited I could jump out of my skin. I feel like I've been waiting this for such a long time. I know that this is not going to be a quick fix for me to lose this weight. This Lap Band is going to be used as a tool to help me. It took me some time to put on this weight, it will take just as long or longer to take it off. I'm getting the surgery done by Dr. Paul Enochs of Cary Surgical Specialists of North Carolina. I'm very impressed with his work as I've done a lot of research on him. I actually work at the same hospital I'm having my surgery done at. I want to personally say thank you to those that have helped me in the pre-operation msg board with any questions/concerns that I've had in the past. I can't believe I'm soon going to be post-op!!! Yay!!! As I going through this journey I've documented it by using youtube as a video journal. Please check it out and subscribe if you can. -- YouTube - jlind4023's Channel Much love!!!
