My Lap Band will hold 14cc. Anyone else with that size?
Melisa1.. I also have the A/P large band and it is 14cc.. It is just the size of the band. Most doctors who use A/P have a choice of Small or Large the small is 10cc so there is not much difference really, but hey just means you have more room for adjustment

1 day Post-Op
Congrats and Glad you are feeling good.. I found it easiest to roll on to my right side with my legs hanging off bed and push up with my arms.. Just make sure you use your arms do not use your abdominal muscles or you will be in a lot of pain.. They need to heal  I have a recliner, but I was told not to use it because people tend to not get up right. So I never did, but just make sure you are taking it easy and being careful.. Best wishes heal fast

Question about returning to work...
Drew.. I think it depends on the person really.. At two week post op my husband was told he could lift 20 lbs and he has not problem doing that.. I will be at my two week post op tomorrow and I am telling you if I lift 8 right now I am still kind of sore.. I usually try to lift with my right hand, but if I do slip and lift for instance a jug of milk with my left I can FOR SURE feel it.. It is not painful, but there is a different feeling there and I know I would hate to push it and lift 20 lbs next week even though technically I could.. So Just be careful and I would suggest for your job taking a minimum of 2 wks off.. P.S.. love those fruity computer :smile2: I totally own 2 and everything else made by the fruit... ha ha

'Buyer's Remorse' - 2 Days Post Op and nauseous.
.. Hi.. I hope this find you feeling better... but I wanted you to know you were not the only pumpkin :crying: who had buyers remorse  ha ha.. I had a pretty rough couple of days in my recovery time and there was a few times I cried and said to myself was this the right decision and one time I actually asked my husband if it was the right decision and he said YES.. you could not have made a better decision baby... and He was right.. I am not 12 days post op and all that other stuff is left behind me. I still have a little pain port area, but everything else has subsided at about day 10... I love being full on a cup of food.. I love that ACTUAL feeling of hunger when it hits and knowing that a cup of food will fill me up.. I love waiting up on the mornings I weigh myself and seeing that scale drop in numbers (just have not updated my ticker till I weigh on my doctors day ha ha) I love feeling better then I did 5 weeks ago. I was having problems walking my back hurt so bad and now I can walk and walk and walk just because of the 14 lbs I lost.. AMAZING what 14 lbs will do to you.. Anyways.. My point is .. Even though the first week or two weeks maybe even three can be a bit rough we just have to take it easy and know that in the long run we did this for a very good reason and it is going to help us achieve something super amazing... Make sure you are taking it easy and try to get some Protein drink in.. You need that to help you not feel hungry and some of your nausea could be because you are so hungry... You will be amazed 3oz to 5 oz will fill you up and probably help the pains.. Make sure if it gets to bad that you call your doctor you need to keep him informed at what is going on.. I would also try to back down on pain meds.. Maybe try to stretch them as long as you can.. I only too mine if I HAD too.. I would try to save it mostly for night time.. Walmart sells a liquid tylenol that I found very helpful.. Maybe have someone pick that up for you if you dont already have it.. well i will stop babbling.. I hope this finds you feeling better.. best of luck and keep us posted

Which one is normal ?
Hi my husband and I were banded a week apart and he bruised a great deal, but did not have a lot of pain.. I however bruised very little, but am did have a lot of pain around the port area.. Everyone heals differently.. I know I was in pain for about 10 days post op and to this day I am still having some minor pain in the port area .. Just make sure you are being very careful to not use those muscles.. Use your arms to lift yourself and try to sleep with pillows comforting you.. It should get better.. I started seeing some improvement at about 8 days post op.. but right now you need to rest as much as possible but also walk as much as possible. Dont push it but as much walking as you can do will help.. I hope you start feeling better soon.. best wishes

I am about to give up can anyone help me?!?!
I have to ask.. Why does everyone say that they are going to give up so easily.. Instead of saying one is going to give up one should say they need the assistance to continue you on full force..and it is not just this thread I have seen it several times on the boards.. I would suggest that you speak with your doctor .. Tell him/her everything and ANYTHING you are feeling .. You must be open and honest with your doctor to help them help you ..if you are unable to remember certain steps or processes to take food wise then get with your nutritionist and see if he/she can help you make a food plan that will work for you.. Not all food will be tolerated by your stomach now .. So you might need to find softer leaner meats to consume. Try a tuna salad or chicken salad and see if you can handle those.. Experiment, but dont stuff yourself.. You should not be getting sick or throwing up and if you are you really needs to make your doctor help you through this.. Best of luck.. and don't give up.. Giving up is not the way out your are looking for .. Be strong and make your doctor help you... You can do this..

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
NFAITH.. I am with you on getting more rest.. I had my surgery on the 1st and by the following monday was not ready to go to work. It took me until wednesday to pull myself in here.. All though I did try on Monday, but I went home .. I barely made it on Wednesday, but gotta get paid ha ha and every day since then has been a little bit better.. I am glad to hear you are doing well.. I actually did not get hungry when people would eat around me either my first week and I could barely force myself to drink the Protein Shakes, but now that I am on mushies I do get hungry if I have not eaten my planned meals so I make sure I have them and it holds me over for quite awhile. It still does not bother me when someone eats around me though. I know I cant have it and I don't want it, but like you said I do enjoy the smell take care everyone

Let's talk Lovenox
wvgal.. i had to take a lovenox shot for 7 days after my surgery and i had to give it to myself and it was not to bad.. Now i am not one for giving myself a shot so I will admit a few days I was a big baby about it, but for the most part it pinched and stung. Dont stress it.. You will be ok and if you only have to have it once. you are pretty lucky.. Good Luck

Portion Questions?
Healed.. I was told it is 1/2 cut during your post up mushies stages, but once all the healing is does I know our diet goes to 1 cup.. every doctor is different though.. I would follow what he tells your or if you feel unsure ask the doctor.. they know best..

Hiccups !!!
Ok I have a few questions.. If anyone has answers for suggestions I would appreciate it.. I am one week post op and I have been on full liquids since the day after my surgery. I have had an ok to rough week pain wise.. My fluids ..protein and Water are going down fine no issues, but I am suppose to start mushies tomorrow and I am a little worried.. I know to eat super slowly and super small bites.. Basically my question is ..a few times a day I will get what feels like a gas bubble in the middle of my throat and I will try to belch but nothing and then a few min later I will hiccup which hurts pretty bad I must say.. After I hiccup it will clear for awhile and then it may or may not come back.. Also, every once in awhile I will get this bubble that will form in my belly and it will be a little painful and then it will sounds like it goes up growls and is gone.. I thought that was a new hunger pain or gas.. I could not decide. It happens more when it is time for me to drink my Protein drink then anything and then once I drink it that feeling subsides for awhile until it is almost time for me to drink it again.. I cant figure out what any of this is and well it is all uncomfortable.. Does anyone have this feelings or suggestions on what they may be?? Thanks in advance.. Hope everyone is doing well..

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Hey everyone.. Just wasnted to stop and say hi and wish everyone well.. I am one week post op today and it is my last day of liquids and can i just say i HATE PROTEIN SHAKES.. and not it is not because I am hungry.. it is not because they are just so gross ..after 7 days straight and 2 weeks pre op of protein shakes. I dont want to see another one.. I don't feel hungry right now, but it is time for my 5oz of shake and it takes everything in me to choke it down.. YUCK.. i hope everyone else does better with these, but word on the street (my doctors office) everyone says what I have said.. So just prepare yourself and have many different protein shake options .. Take care everyone.. Good Luck to the upcoming surgeries and I hope everyone in post op is feeling great..

What have you done so far?
Nazzy..I have the lapband.. I have lost 14 lbs so far.. total since august 22nd I have lost 32.6 lbs... as far as how I am doing I am going to say just ok.. ha ha.. I was suppose to go back to work yesterday, but I was really nauseated so i left work after only 3 hours and then I of course was suppose to be there today, but decided not to risk it and gave myself one more day to relax.. I have some trouble getting comfortable while sleeping and I think that is part of my problem.. My left shoulder still has some pain and occasionally get a gas bubble in my throat.. I am suppose to start mushies on Thursday and as much as I am sick and tired of protein shakes I am a little nervous to start them.. My husband had his surgery the week before me and he is doing great.. So I am looking forward to being two weeks post op.. I wish you good luck. Just make sure you walk a lot and follow everything your doctor tells u.. take care

Just wait until you go to an appointment and see that you gained weigh it will stop you in your tracks.. well hopefully... I did not intentionally tell myself i could it it would be ok, but some how I managed to gain 6 lbs between my second and third appointment. I was so upset I had gained weight that in the 3 weeks between my 3rd and 4th appt I lost 14 lbs. and that felt awesome.. and now i have lost about 14 since surgery.. it is GREAT :crying:

oh brother...i need help
Lshelly.. I would not recommend doing that .. that is more like bingeing and purging just out the other end..that is considered a weight disorder... I would recommend just being honest with your doctor.. You have to have communication with them and be honest about what you have done.. I am sure you want them to be honest with you and do the surgery properly and not take a short cut around it just to get by.. So just call them and tell them what you are doing..

Constipation
I have to tell you .. I am not normally a person to suffer from constipation.. My surgery was on Wednesday and I had a bowl movement on thursday, but had not gone since, but really felt like I had to .. It was so bad to the point I was in pain .. Needless to say I called my doctor and he had another doctor on call.. How embarrassing it is to tell this story to a doctor ha ha, but I am sure they hear it all the time.. Anyways he advised me to get a fleet enema which I got from walgreens and it was the best 1.50 I have EVER spent.. I feel like a new person.. It was not the most pleasant experience and my hubby and I are now just THAT much closer ha ha, but I dont think I will EVER allow myself to wait that long again .. I am still not feeling 100 % because I tried to go for three days.. ANYWAYS sorry to be so gross, but who really would think a post about constipation would be pretty.. Remember pain meds cause constipation so try only take them when you have to.. Sadly I only took mine once max twice a day and I was this miserable. Needless to say I am going straight tylenol ha ha I hope everyone is feeling well.. take care

My band date is Oct 14
Txnurse.. I first of all want to wish you the best of luck.. Your feelings are not unusual .. I have had about 8 surgeries in my life and each time i freak out.. No matter how many times you get put to sleep for surgery it does not get easier.. but you have to believe and have faith that you have chosen a great doctor who knows what they are doing... Also think about how much money you are putting in to this and it will make that so much easier to use this tool properly.. the hardest part is the first 2 weeks preop and then a few weeks post op.. I have been heavy all my life and I began researching this procedure back in 2001 and It took me until this year to decide I wanted to do it.. I know you are afraid to fail and have everyone know about it, but I promise you the more people who know the more successful you will be .. It will be easier when you go somewhere that people dont question why you are only drinking protein shakes or only having a cup of food.. it is a big lifestyle change and the more people you have the support you the easier the lifestyle will be to adapt too..best wishes
