welcome back vegasgirl44! Glad to hear you are doing well. Do I say this is Day 4 post op or Day 3 post op? Not sure if I count the day of surgery. I had my surgery on August 14. Anyway, the muscles around my port area are still somewhat sore but so much better than they have been. I still have some gas pains, but I think it's mostly from not being able to go to the bathroom. I go back to the doctor tomorrow for my post-op visit. I anxious to see what he has to say. I don't even remember him coming in to see me after surgery because I was so out of it. It is so wonderful to hear all the stories from everyone else. Keep up the good work and good luck to all!

eszymanski, I go back to work on Monday too. I'm hoping most of this pain is gone by then. I really need to go to the bathroom but I'm unable to (sorry if that's TMI) . I'm sure that would help with the gas. Good luck!

I was banded on August 14th. My port site is very sore! My stomach muscles hurt. I feel myself tense up around my shoulders and neck trying to keep the area straight. When I bend or slump over it's hard to straighten back up. I will be watching this thread for other posts.

turtletears, I'm glad to hear from you. I had my band on the 14th also. I am so sore at the port site. I'm trying to move around as much as I can. I have been trying to drink all my fluids but it's hard to get in the protein drinks plus 64 oz. of fluids. I'm just not hungry. I hope we hear from vegasgirl44 soon! She was having her surgery the 14th also.

Well, I made it through surgery. I ended up being there longer than I thought because the doctor was running behind. I didn't get taken back until about 12:30 and it was about 6pm before I got to come home. I was having a hard time waking up. Today I am pretty sore especially in the port site!! ugh pain! I've taken a couple of doses of the pain medication and then slept. I hope the soreness doesn't last very long. I've had a bottle of water today 1 protein drink and that's all. I am about to drink another protein drink. They want me to drink my protein drinks plus 64 oz. of fluid. How can I possibly drink that much? Thanks for all the prayers and support!

Today is my surgery day! I have to be there in about 2 more hours. I am SO ready. sam2003, Thanks so much for the details of your surgery day. It kind of gave me an insite as to what will happen although I know things are not the same for everyone. I will be checking in as soon as I can.

Thanks for all the replies. I will just take it one day at a time now and not think of the final goal but only what I can lose each day/week/month. Well, in the morning is my surgery so I am off to bed. I'm sure I will be awake all night with excitement, but I'm going to try and get some sleep. Thanks again.

vegasgirl44, Lufkin is about 120 miles NE of Houston. We are about 4-5 hours from San Antonio. My surgery is out-patient so I won't bring much with me to the hospital. Probably just a bag with hairbrush/personal items and a pillow for the ride home. Is your surgery out-patient? What are you taking with you?

vegasgirl44, I was on a ten day strict liquid diet. I just found out a few minutes ago that I have to be there at 9am in the morning. I am so excited!!!!!! I won't be able to sleep tonight.

vegasgirl44, Wow that's great that you've lost 18 lbs pre-op. How long were you on the liquid diet? When I went Monday to pre-register, I had lost 9 lbs. I'm sure they will weigh me before surgery so I can see if I have lost any more. I haven't found out what time to go to the hospital in the morning. They are supposed to call today actually anytime now. Good luck tomorrow! I will be checking in.

vegasgirl44, I am also getting banded on August 14th. I would LOVE to keep in touch with you and compare successes. I'm not nervous at all just ready. What about you?

Today is Day 8 of my liquid diet. I've got one more day then the next day is surgery. I'm so excited! The liquid diet has been hard some days and easy some days. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days were VERY difficult. I just wanted to eat. I don't really consider jello as eating LOL. The days after that were much easier except yesterday. The reason why is because I went to the school to start getting my room ready. The other teachers I work with and I all had our kids up there with us. The kids usually just play etc while we work. Of course there are ALWAYS tons of snacks etc. that are brought for the kids and then a run to Sonic for them to eat. It was just very difficult being around that. Being at home was a LOT easier because I'm not around all the snack food and fast food. The temptations are not as strong being at home. I finished getting my 'stuff' at school done and came on home. I just decided that instead of grabbing some of those cheese-its it was better just to come home and not be tempted. I have NOT cheated at all so far on this liquid diet and not going to start 2 days before my surgery. My advice: try to stay clear of the temptations just don't let them in your site. Also, when you get hungry go grab some sugar free jello or drink something. It really does kill those hungry pains. Sorry this was so long.

I've got 2 days left before being banded on Thurs. Aug 14th. I'm SO excited! I can't wait to be over this liquid diet and NOT feel hungry! I went to the hospital today to pre-register and do blood work. Then had to go over to the Dr. office to weigh and pay my portion of the surgery. I had lost 9 lbs. since last Tuesday. I thought that was great. I hope these next 2 days go by fast!

How long after surgery was your stomach bigger from the gas? When did you start noticing that it was going down and the gas was gone? What did you do to help with the gas? Sorry for all the questions--I'm being banded on Thursday, Aug. 14.

turtletears, I am using Dr. Hambric in Lufkin. He requires 10 days of liquid diet.

I feel like I have lost some weight (which I'm sure I have). This is the first day though that I have felt like I have lost weight. I feel a little thinner if that makes sense. Days 2, 3, and 4 were VERY HARD, but so far today, I feel like I can make on the liquid diet. 5 more days!!!

I'm new here as of today. I am getting the Lap-Band on August 14th. I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet. I really excited about having the band! I would love to hear any advice. Paula

I am getting banded on August 14th! I can't believe it's so close! I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet. I think I'm going to DIE! I'm SO hungry. I'm drinking everything I"m supposed to, but just a few minutes later I'm hungry again. Any advice?
