SuziDavis replied to baribetty's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery

My tips and why I Don't recommend Sleeve surgery for long term
SuziDavis replied to strawberryga's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is not how it works and people should not go into PS or WLS thinking this. -

New Job, New Insurance, No More WLS Coverage :(
SuziDavis replied to SymphonyOfDreams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am in South Florida and was self pay, my Sleeve total came to $11,500. Bypass may be a little more. I used Dr Shillingford and had a great experience. Might be better than going to Mexico. -
Vitamin deficiency please help
SuziDavis replied to PennyIris's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I originally tried those chews and they made me want to puke. They are so big and you have to use so many. Now I also use the ProCare Health 1 a day w/45 Iron. I also take the Bariatric Fusion B-50, a B-12 Melt from Amazon, and a calcium/magnesium one from ProCare. My doctor gave us a sheet with about 20 combo fo brands and what you need to take to make sure you are complete in your vitamins. This is the best combo for me by far. This is what I Use... My Protein and collagen is from 1st Phorm 1stphorm My B-50 Vitamin and calcium chews are from Bariatric fusion My one a day Multi w/ Iron & Calcium are from ProCare Health And my B-12 is from Amazon -

I know that I will be pushing for HRT when I get there. I think I am having Perimenopausal Symptoms lately, I guess 42 is not too early for it. -

What made you decide to have a WLS?
SuziDavis replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was so tired of not being able to so the things I enjoy. The last ten years have been miserable... I wanted my life back. -
Yes, it happens to 95% of people who have weight loss surgery. So perfectly normal. Mine is just starting sooner. It lasts a few months and then your hair comes back.
-
Anyone’s hair start shedding yet? Seems like mine has. 😭

how did you create a goal weight?
SuziDavis replied to KimA-GA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went back to when I felt the fittest in my life and added a bit. I know I will not be working out the way I was in my 20"s , so it is not realistic to assume I could get back to that. But I hope to get close. -
I think you need to get with your Doctor in that, if you are having that issue at night, that could be some other problem.
-
YES! Try to eat less per bite and chew 30 times. sounds silly, but it does help.

3 years out from Sleeve. I feel like a failure.

This hits home for me so much. My husband is also an alcoholic, with severe OCD. He works, he does all he should, but once 5:30 hits, he has to (in his mind) be sitting with his first drink of the night. He does the same thing, listing all the things I do wrong, and how I make him miserable. And ever since the day I set my surgery date, he has made a point to accuse me of cheating or that I will cheat because I will think I am better than him. He is not over weight, so I am not sure why he thinks that. Sometimes I want to throw my hands up. Instead I just rearrange my life to accommodate his insecurities, and taking away from my own success. It sucks...
-
Of course he wants it to stay that way, he has it good. If the rolls were reversed, I bet he would feel differently.
-
That is a great idea...lol I hope you guys are ok, I know you got it much worse that we did.

Baking is like therapy for me, but I have never enjoyed eating it too much. So I still do bake for my family and office. It only was annoying once, but I ate a sugar free pudding while smelling the delicious cookies and moved on. I kept telling myself it's not worth getting sick over.

6 weeks post op ZERO WEIGHT LOSS AND DEPRESSED
SuziDavis replied to crazycatladycanada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalls in the first few weeks, including week 1, are very common and to be expected. My doctor reassured me of that right away. I can tell you that from my plan and in office nutritionist, we were told do not eat or drink anything that has more than 5-10 g of sugar in a sitting. Maybe try swapping some of the carbs for protein, as the body will try to use the carbs in lieu of stored fat for fuel if it can. My program recommends eating your protein, if still hungry, eat good green veggies, and then after that if you really need something, go for a low sugar fruit. -
6 weeks post op ZERO WEIGHT LOSS AND DEPRESSED
SuziDavis replied to crazycatladycanada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
21 pounds in 5 weeks isn't zero... That is normal. Stalls in the first month are also super common, and I would say that the majority of us have had them. Normal weight loss with a sleeve is 10-12 pounds a month. you went beyond that. Having the colonic emptied your system, now you are adding back to it. The water that went in, did eventually come out, along with anything else that came out. Just be patient and stick to your program. -
Thank you 😊I am right there with you on eating in the morning. I drink my protein with my coffee in the AM. I do take all my vitamins and my B12 is first thing in the morning.

Thank you! Luckily it looks like its going to miss us. I am on the south east side by Ft Lauderdale/Miami. Just more rain and wind coming our way

Hair is starting to thin a bit
SuziDavis replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just a tip from an ex-stylist. Thin hair looks better and will have more volume when it's shorter. And darker hair will look even thinner due to scalp contrast. So If you ever wanted to go lighter, its a good time to try it out!
