NewlyReborn got a reaction from Arabesque in 3 rd after surgery
I had mine Tuesday. I had the feeling also. It will get better. Just take it one day at a time. I think of it as a new birth a new beginning. You just have to retrain you body how to eat and your mind how to think. It would also help to get some therapy and an accountability partner. God bless you on your new journey.

I think it could be stomach acid too. Or spasming from the surgery. Menstrual cramps occur low in the abdomen. If you haven’t got a script for a PPI, try some over the counter antacids (liquid would be easiest this soon out from surgery) until you speak to your surgeon. If it’s surgical spasming, try a warm drink like herbal tea or broth or warm your Water or Protein Shake.

Mine's was the 7th and yes I'm struggling like crazy. I've been reading my medical bible and googling everything. I confess I did a small sample of what my daughter cooked for dinner Sunday and instantly regretted it. My stomach hurt but once I vomited I felt a whole lot better. So follow your outpatient instructions to the letter. There is a method to the madness.

Hey everyone! Just joined! I had vsg on June 7th so I’m currently on the full liquid post op diet! Anyone else had their surgery June 7th or around that time?

Hey, I just had my surgery on the 7th too. The first day I don't remember anything outside of me being rolled in the OR then waking up in my hospital room. But today I feel great. No pain. I'm walking around, sipping on fluids. Going home tomorrow. My surgeon was awesome. I had a very good experience. I'm just looking at this as a rebirth. We got this. Be blessed.

I’m a week out from surgery and just wanted to share my progress. I’ve lost 9 lbs since my surgery date, which makes sense since I’m eating less than 400 calories a day! It’s definitely easier on this side than it was on the pre-op side, since my body literally cannot eat the things it used to. It’s been an adjustment getting used to the physical limitations and sensations that come along with something as simple as taking a single pill, but seeing quick weight loss is very rewarding. I’m still on full liquids, but I switch to soft foods on Sunday, and I cannot wait to have an egg!

If you are only a few days out from surgery, it might be pain from the surgery itself. I had a lot of surgical pain for the first week.

Now that you mention that you forgot to get your meds filled... did your surgeon prescribe an acid reducer? Most surgeons prescribe a PPI (acid reducer) for the first several months post op... the stomach is upset from the surgery, and that causes it to produce extra acid, the PPI reduces acid, which calms the stomach. If you aren't taking an acid reducer, that may be the issue. Over production of acid can often feel like a gnawing feeling or hunger. If you didn't get a PPI from your surgeon, I'd reach out to their office and let them know what your symptoms are and inquire if a PPI would help you.
    Best wishes!

many women complain that their cycles and moods get wonky for a few weeks or months after surgery. It's due to estrogen being released during the rapid weight loss (estrogen is stored in fat cells). It'll eventually stabilize.

If you're two days post-op, it's unlikely to be hunger pains. I was hungry a few days after surgery, which is very unusual, but I definitely did not have hunger pains that would be mistaken for cramps.

What's good for one person may not be good or work for someone else. Skinny people think that all overweight people just sit around stuffing their face with food and that's not true at all. They don't understand our know what I feels like to be us

Well... if you've never experienced cramping... it's usually in a different area than the stomach. If you're familiar with female anatomy, the stomach is higher than the ovaries and uterus. So typically the cramping is lower down in the abdoment and sometimes your lower back can cramp as well... it feels different than hunger pangs.
If you're taking pain meds that your surgeon prescribed, that should eliminate the cramping. So that would indicate if it's hunger or not...
If you're not taking pain meds still, try some liquid tylenol, if you can take that. It should at least take the edge off of the pain if it's due to your period.
I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes!

No you didn’t make a mistake, yes you did the right thing! I promise. Now you just have this to distract you from the thing that was making you miserable in the first place that made you want to get the surgery. So you can’t turn to that for comfort now.

Give yourself a lot of grace and visualize yoke healing. I walked, sat when I was pushing it too much. I had a heating pad which was heavenly. Tylenol was my friend, the one with narcotics in it lol I chewed on Gas X like sweet tarts. I loved hot tea, sugar free popsicles.

everyone is 10000% correct that you are going to feel amazing. Distract yourself as much as you can. I’m 3 1/2 months out and I love my restriction. It helps me focus, it’s reset my hormones. My cholesterol is almost 200 points down.

sending hugs and healing your way.

I am curious if anyone had a full thyroidectomy prior to weight loss surgery? I had my thyroid removed in 2018 and it is near impossible to lose even a pound. I've tried low carb and exercising regularly but I only lost 2 lbs in 4 months. I am so worried that after my surgery which is tomorrow morning, that I won't lose anything. Please let me know if you have success or not with the sleeve.

I'm really struggling with this pre op diet. A couple of times I thought about calling it off and talked myself out of it. But I know I really need this lifestyle change. Any suggestions on how to distract me. Because now I keep thinking about all this food I can't eat anymore like seafood
