    Conquer Your Fitness Fears. WebMd

Thanks for posting this. I have been in a exercise slump, and this has helped. my all or nothing thinking is usually a culprit. Like tonight, doing a little yoga and dance is enough and fun. DB
  2. I feel for you, I have had a feeling that maybe this is happening to me too. What I did was go back to liquid high Protein liquid phase for a couple days to clear me out and then I only ate small portions of protein at a meal. I just did one type of food at a time and stayed with mushies for a while (like 2 weeks). Now I am avoiding carbs as much as possible and am continuing to loss weight. Hang in there. Dancingbear

List the BENEFITS of low-carbing PLEASE

My personal reasons include: * less cravings: when I eat low carb meals I do not experience "head hunger" or cravings especially sugar cravings decrease * feel more full: A meal that high in Protein and low carbs fills me up longer then a high carb meal * weight loss: if I eat even a small amount of carbs I'll need to expercise to loss weight, with a no or low carb diet the exercise although still important is not critical to continued weight loss 8mood stabilizing: high protein and no carbs helps my mood be positive and stable. Lots of carbs equals an emotional rollar coaster. Thats my list! Thanks! Dancingbear

    Having a rough Time

I am also a single working parent and can really feel your pain! It is overwhelming to have to prioritize and be rushed constantly with something left undone and I usually am the one losing out, not the kiddo, the job, the house, but usually me... The most difficult thing is cooking for my daughter, who will eat what I prepare for myself, but still likes Pasta and bread, foods I am staying away from. Also, it is hard to plan ahead. I default to tofu burgers, tofu hotdogs and yogurt when I can't think and have little time to cook. Be gentle towards yourself, change takes time and consistency...you are doing it. Dancingbear

two months out and all's well

Thank you. I am going to try Biotin and folic acid, and monitor protien. I also heard that the hair loss can be from dropping a lot of weight at once, as the gall bladder works double time fat burning...but that hair will all grow back and this is common for about 3 to 9 months out to occur. Here's hoping! Thanks again! dancingbear
  6. I am almost 2 months out and so far so good. I've lost 27lbs. and am exercising A LOT...swimming, and treadmill. I am eating A LOT non-animal Protein. Most every meal is just a protein and veggie..very few carbs. My hair is falling out A LOT...handfuls of hair everytime I brush. I am using a treatment shampoo and conditioner...do not think it is working that great. I still have gas, especially at night. I had 1 incident of food getting stuck that hurt so bad. My mouth was full of spit...weird and painful. but it only lasted a couple minutes. Does anyone have advice for the hair loss? This is what is worrying me the most! Thanks for the support. Dancingbear:rolleyes2:

How soon can you eat after a fill?

My doctor said liquids for 2 days, then mushies for a day then eat regular day 4. I did liquids for 1 day and mushies for 2 and eat more solid food on the day 4. I can feel some restriction and am eating very carefully smaller amounts then previously. Dancingbear

Am I just Bein' a Baby?

I also was banded on the 11th and just today I started to feel like maybe I could do something work related. I think I am going to lay off the pain meds and see how it goes. My work requires a lot of standing and sitting on the floor, up and down as I am a play therapist for kids w/severe problems, so I need to really pace myself. I also haven't told anyone anything but now I kind of wish I had so that I'd have some excuse for moving so slowly. My advice is, if you can, start back to work slowly and build up from there. Take Care! Dancing Bear

    Almost 3 weeks!

wow, it sounds like you are doing really well! I am on my 12th day post-op and am also keeping it to liquids only. Somedays I can barely get the 500 cal. into me...but I know this will change. Thanks for sharing your success. Dancing Bear
  10. I did well throughout my hospital stay and am feeling better each day. I'm grateful I've had some help w/ my kid because I can't do much right now, and that needs to be honored!!!! Clear liquids were a bit difficult for me because I am vegetarian, so I made some miso broth, that was OK and Water for 2 days, on day 4 I started to drink warm milk, good quality organinc 1% and it feels very healing, also taking spirulina suppliments that have green protien. Feels good. I am looking forward to trying a creamy Soup, but not quite yet. I have had some emotional surges, but am feeling positive. Thanks for reading!

Off to a good start! Banded 8/11/08

Thanks for all the great tips and thoughtful support. I'm hanging in there, although I thought by now, 7 days post-op I'd be in less pain....I can't tell if it is gas or just soreness from the incisions, but it comes and goes and when it is here....owweee! I'm getting checked out by my regular doc in the morning to see that all is well and I can't wait for the babysitter to come over and pick all the little things up out of reach, not to mention get the kiddo out of my hair for a while...doing this as a single working parent feels a little overwhelming. I have some good friends and support that I really need but they tend to show when it is convienent for them and yesterday and this AM have been a little tough. All good things in all good time!

    I'm experiencing hairloss, Need suggestion!

Folic acid can help hair loss, also try grape seed exstract. I started to notice my hair thinning after birthing my kid, and I expect with being recently banded that I'll need extra nurtrients so I don't loss more! Good luck! DB

    Just had my heart broken....

Hey there, I was banded on Monday too, I can't imagine having the sadness of a breakup on top of all the other emotions, sensations and adjustments I'm currently undergoing. Maybe looking at this a an even bigger new beginning, with something better in store then your wildest dreams. Be gentle with yourself and take care.

    I'll be banded next week!

that is cool o hear from another being banded on the 11th. Maybe we can compare notes as things unfold. I had a pre-opt appt. w/ the surgeon today and now I am really nervous/excited. A lot of people are warning me about the grieving process that accompanies big changes like this. I wonder if that will happen to me. I need to be sure to follow the post-op liquid meal plan to the hilt. No mess-ups. Good luck! DancingBear:wink2:
  15. Hi there. I've been thinking about WLS for almost 3 years and have been waiting for surgery since January, now that it is 6 days away I am feeling a bit nervous! I am excited and a little scared. My biggest worry is how I am going to deal with cravings. I have lost 30lbs since January while waiting for surgery, I yo-yo like crazy between about 6 lbs up and down. My eating is most difficult around my monthly cycle when I crave the junk. I am also a vegetarian and have been for almost 20 years. i am curious if it will be difficult to get the Protein without the bulk. I am also a single working parent of a 7 year old and do not have a ton of support, I have 1 good friend and a babysitter. I've taken 2 weeks from work off, and hope to decrease some of the load by December. Anyway, I want to say hello and will need some support from ya'll Cheers!:cool2:
