  1. Hello and welcome into the forum. Congratulations on your surgery date and you are so lucky to have only one day of the dreaded liquid diet. Keep us posted on your progress and let us know if you need any help along the way
Thank you....I have been reading some of the comments on the forum, I have gotten inspiration from here. I am trying to stick to a low carb diet so that I can loose a little extra weight before surgery, but I continue to struggle. I never go over my original start weight but I can't seem to go lower than 142 and then go back up. It's so frustrating!

  2. pre-op diets vary WILDLY from surgeon to surgeon. There is no "gold standard" so each program has their own. Ans mentioned above, the primary goal is simply to shrink the liver to get it out of the way. But if necessary, they can use a tool to hold the liver up and out of the way, so its really not usually a make or break issue. If you are very concerned, you could move to a low carb, high Protein, lower calorie diet a few days ahead of time, but its probably not necessary. Your surgeon has their own requirements for a reason and if you trust them, you can trust their requirements.
Ya I understand that, for sure. I'm already on high protein and low carb and have been since November. So I guess that's why my doctor only requires 1 day. But I do plan on going liquid for the last 5 days before my date anyway.

  3. I've already kind of started with soft food only and liquids for Breakfast and lunch. A d I definitely am getting in 64 ounces of Water or more a day.

I was already planning g on doing liquid for at least 1 week before my surgery date. So I think I'll be ok (hopefully).

My main concern is that even though I'm walking and dieting, I'm still going up and down on my weight. 1 day I'll be at 244 the next day I'm back up to 250. It's just frustrating.

  4. Hello!
    i am new here [emoji4]
I had gastric sleeve surgery on May 3. I started my journey in December. My first scan at my appointment I weighed 264 pounds, yesterday at my checkup i weighed 234.
I am struggling because my stomach feels so large. I can’t even wear my exercise pants from when I was 264 pounds, they feel like they put so much pressure on my abdomen which in turn puts pressure in my chest making me very uncomfortable. My belly feels bigger than it did 30 pounds ago. I don’t understand what’s happening. I would assume that I’m losing weight in other parts of my body.
Could this be some sort of post op bloating? Even taking a deep breath is uncomfortable, it reminds me of when I was super pregnant [emoji20] I'm really bummed.
im hoping someone might have some insight.
    Thank you guys

    Are you walking ?

  5. Hello everyone,
I will have my surgery on the 25th of May. I am well prepared I think, the only thing that worries me at the moment is that 2 weeks after my operation I want to attend an important 3 day meeting. I will probably still be in the liquid phase. How do you gallantly get around questions from colleagues? Because you don't take anything at the buffet and you don't drink in the evening either. That's going to be really interesting, because I usually love eating and drinking with my colleagues and I'll probably have to think up some really good excuses.

    Thanks [emoji4] Greetings from Europe!

Just be honest with them...if they have a nasty opinion, that's on them not you. You are trying to better yourself and that's all you need to worry about.

  6. Hi y'all, I'm new here. Scheduled for surgery June 24th (but I started the whole process February 2021, long story). When researching which surgery to get, I was hoping for a duodenal switch, because it is supposed to have the best long-term outcome. Unfortunately my surgeon doesn't do DS, he only will do the VSG or RNY. And even then, he'll only do the RNY if you have diabetes or GERD. With him, then, my only option is the sleeve. (I don't live in an area where I can really "shop around" for bariatric surgeons).
Honestly, I'm not upset, because it does seem to be one of the least invasive procedures... our insides aren't getting rearranged, we're just getting part of our stomach taken out. That being said, I'm kind of glad that the sleeve can so easily be revised into a DS, if I need it to be down the road. (I've been fat my whole life, so I'm really worried about regain). Obviously I'd need to search further away for a surgeon to do the DS, but I'll cross that bridge if or when I come to it. I'm hoping the sleeve will do the trick, though. I just want to be healthy. My ten-year-old daughter is autistic, and non-speaking, with very high support needs, so it's likely she'll never be able to live independently. I just want to make sure I'm around for her as long as I possibly can be.
Anyway, hi! I'd love to hear your stories!

    Hi!
I have been on this journey for a minute too. I always wanted to have the sleeve because it's less invasive and supposed to be a little quicker recovery time.
