    No Hunger

I too had this problem. The first week I could only get in about 400 - 600 calories. Drink Water and, as dsylvr said, beef broth. Now, two weeks in, I am able to get about 800 calories but it is getting better each day. I just had my first hunger pangs today. It is hard to drink when you don't want it. Good luck.

    protein help!!

I couldn't use any of the Protein powders or isopure. It just upset my system. I ended up drinking soy milk at 7 grams per cup. Silk comes in chocolate, vanilla, spice and coffee. It is pretty good. My nutritionist said not to use the bullets. She said the quality is not proven. But who knows if this is true or not. Good luck. Hope this helps a bit.

    I'm just so hungry.

This too will pass. I was banded on 7/22/08 and just started on real food, but mushie ones. I have eaten an egg, cottage cheese, a few crackers and avocado. It was hard in the the liquid stage. When you start mushies you must be careful. Eat less then you think you think you want. The rest will be there later. Good luck all

    Post Op pain med

I was given liquid Vicodin which I only took before bed to help ease the pain while sleeping. Otherwise I took liquid Tylenol. After the 4th or 5th day I stopped all pain meds.

    Can't stop baking

I too love to cook and bake. I found that baking dog biscuits helps tame my desire to have flour up to my elbows, keeps me cooking without any danger of weight gain and makes all the dogs around very happy! Good Luck

Lap Band ID and restaurant card?

Hi, I was banded by Dr. Billy on Tuesday, 7/22. I used the Thousand Oaks site, which is outpaitent. So, I am only two days out but doing well. I am having trouble sleeping, probably because of the meds and lack of exercise. (I don't react well to meds and tried to take only Tylenol, but I hurt too much). Nice to "talk" with a fellow Dr. Billy person. Thanks
  7. Hi all. I am so happy to hear that others have had some weight gain immediately after surgery. I too was surprised to find I gained 6 pounds when I was only consumming about 500 calories each day in the form of clear liquids. I can see the swelling in my tummy so it must be there. I was banded on July 22, 08. I has been a fairly easy process so far. Good luck to all.

    just banded 7/22/08

Hi all, I was banded yesterday and the experience has been very positive. The surgery started a 9:00 am, right on time. I am not sure how long it took but I was waking up in recovery at 10:30. I choose out patient and I am really glad I did. It was nice to be at home afterwards. I was able to drink Clear liquids immediately and today transistion to all liquids (including strained cream soups). I have some pain in the area of the port but otherwise I do not hurt. I have spent the day napping on and off and am really glad I do not have to return to work. I have 5 small incisions and all I have to do is let the steri strips come off by themselves. Showers are okay but no baths. Easy and simple operation and recovery is easy too. I worried way too much about what would happen as it was all great. I hink the hardest part was paying as I am a self-pay. I am positive that it will be worth it. Banded by Dr. Billy in Ventura, CA.

Are there any low bmi's who talk often?

Hi all, I am being banded on July 22nd and have a BMI of 25. (Currently but will get higher again if I wait any longer.) I keep going up and down and was able to show this trend through my Weight Watchers info. I do have to self pay as my insurance wants me to gain lots of weight before they will even talk to me about it. Today I am off to the stress test and have only blood work and the scan left.
