  1. I started this journey at 290. I'm six months out from gastric bypass and now weigh 196. The doctor says my goal weight is 160 which means 36lbs to go.The last time I remember being under 200 was when my 20 year old daughter was like 1 or 2. My personal goal is to be at 160 by my birthday in the beginning of October and am working hard to hit that. I was in 19/20 pants and a 2/3x top. Now I am in a 8/10 pants and medium shirt. The thing that confuses me is at 185 when my daughter was little I wore a size 10 but I fit into my 10s starting at 210lb. I just don't know how that works. Don't get me wrong I happy about the fact that my jeans are an 8 and a medium top but not sure how it works Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vaping after Surgery

I smoked since I was 16 except for a couple of stops. I'm 46 now I have switched to vaping a few times but switched completely before I got married in 2017 didn't want to smoke a cigarette on my wedding dress. When I started this journey I lowered the nic level until I was at 0. Then I stopped before surgery. And there are times I will look for it but go oh yeah I don't do that anymore and move on. I'm doing this to get healthy and don't want to go back to vaping it's been 8 months since I vaped and since I am going through sizes so fast I have money to get clothes I used to spend on vaping stuff. DS or bypass after sleeve?

I had the bypass done almost 6 months ago and it's been working for me I'm not sure what the ds is like I haven't talked to anyone who had it I did do some research on both I hand never really considered the sleeve. Honestly I would choose the one closest to you and in your network for the record aspect and if you need your surgeon for something they are close and access to your info Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

I had a hard time walking because of complications and having to go back in for surgery 4 days after my bypass as funny as this sounds car rides help also the seat need to be in an up right position though. No more constant gas pain after a few weeks. But I still get burpy alot Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Feeling a bit discouraged…

I'm a firm believer in celebrate yourself on this journey. You should take the word only out of your mind unless it's I only weigh this much. I feel like people on a weight loss journey "only" is just another four letter cuss word. I had issues with food and water also. The puree time sucked for me mostly because I found out that texture maters to me it felt like I was on the liquid diet forever. As with the water I had issues with making me nauseous also. I did some research and found that putting some flavoring in it could help but since I couldn't stand them anymore I tried every bottle water until I found one that didn't sit heavy on my stomach and didn't make me nauseous. Smart water was the one for me. It does get better. I'm almost 6 months out from bypass surgery and although I can still only drink smart water eating is better. Regret and Depression

Did you have these mood swings before. On any mental health medication. I am bipolar and had problems after surgery and it took me a while to think that since things absorb different maybe my meds were not absorbing the way they used to also. Talked to my psychiatrist and upped some and changed others but Im doing good now. I really hope things get better. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I refuse to spend a money on clothes because I'm changing sizes so fast. Old navy and target are as expensive as I get and only on sale walmart mostly. But maybe the size thing is there too along with the extra skin and my tummy being squishier. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Yeah it does thank you. And congratulations on the weight loss that's awesome. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I had a hard time with water also did crystal light before couldn't stand it after. Water on a whole made me sick. I hate Gatorade. I did some research and water nausea is a thing and that's why a lot of people including me from even before surgery put stuff in their water. I had to try so many different waters until I found one that didn't sit heavy on my stomach mine is smart water. Made look and find one that works for you. And my dr said I can have some carbs as long as I eat my protein first. I love bread. I'll eat a sandwich on a French roll or something but only eat it with bread on the bottom. Also can't eat a whole sandwich. As far as sweets find something that isn't terrible for you to feed it a little so it's not always on a 10. I like breyers carb smart ice cream. I also like yogurt strawberries and a granola. I found a granola that is low in carb and sugar made by ratio. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I'm 5 months out I have timers set for everything 30 min between eating and drinking 2 min between bites at home and I do 1:30 in a restaurant and stop sooner. I also have learned there is a fine line between not completely full and over full. When I feel like I'm not sure or coming to that point I wait an extra 2 min before I decide if I'm going to take a bite or not Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Can't Decide!

I think it also depends on what your issue is. I had the bypass because eating too much at a time wasn't really my issue. I did have to up the dose of some of my medications because they weren't having the same effect. I would also think why you wanted the sleeve instead of the bypass in the first place. Then why you are starting to reconsider and go with the bypass now. Also I'm a big believer in going with your gut and there is a reason why you are starting to reconsider now I'd go with it. 21. I never really had anyone call me fat to my face. I did get things like fluffy or squishy I'd rather of been fat. My mom was over weight when I was a kid and I didn't get big until after my 3rd baby. I was actually under weight as a teenager and young adult. But after I had my hysterectomy at 32 I had started to have more trouble with my weight. I don't think anyone should be disrespectful to anyone about anything. There is always something that a person is insecure about and comments from others aren't helpful. And we also need to be nicer to ourselves. I have not been a good cheerleader for myself. I'm trying to be better about it now but it's hard when it's internal I think because you can't send a mental middle finger and walk away from our own thoughts. I'm not sure why people think they should throw their opions at people. If I didn't ask for it then I didn't want it. I believe in the saying if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything. Also treat people how you want to be treated. And I'm sure those people giving there unwanted opinions wouldn't like it thrown back. But in the word of Pink you're f**king perfect. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

  23. I have been reading through these they are great by the way. I'm going through some of the same things. 1. I couldn't take my rings off without a huge effort and plenty of lotion. Now I can yeah without issues or lotion. 2. I can get up off the couch without rocking. 3. Not having to go in the big girl section for clothes 4. My daughter asked me what happened to my hands I was oh they just aren't fat anymore lol. She thought something was wrong. 5. Towels fitting right 6. Being able to walking longer and more often. 7. Being more flexible and energetic during sexy time. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. I was happy about that too. I haven't admitted that it was an issue before but now that it's easier I'm just so happy about it. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. You know I've been going though clothes sizes pretty fast. It would be cool if there was a place for bariatric patients to share and swap clothes. Just because we go through sizes so fast. That way we didn't have to buy clothes in a size we only be in for a few weeks or months. Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
