    Hello everyone!

I am 6 weeks post sleeve - I got sleeved July 8th, and I'm thrilled to report that I have now joined the great 100s Club! I have lost 42 pounds so far - I did not lose any pre op, in fact, I gained!

I can't say that all has been perfect because I do have my days when I miss and crave foods that I shouldn't be eating and I do sneak a little in here and there, but I keep it all down! No stomach issues! I can't wait to start eating salads - week 8, I think!

    Happy journey, all!

    6 wks 42 lbs!!!!

Hi everyone! So today I went to my 1 month post op doctor's visit. My labs were impressive - thank goodness, as I was worried. I have lost 32 pounds since surgery 6/8/22. I did not lose any weight pre op, in fact I gained as I enjoyed a "last hurrah" eat fest. I was cleared for all gym workouts! Yaaaay! Also, no more Protein Shakes as I now need to eat food rich in Protein. I am also on a regular high Protein low carbs diet - 3 meals daily. I am honestly worried about this as my taste buds have changed, I'm never hungry, and even when I try to eat, I get full after 2 or 3 bits. This surgery has completely changed my relationship with food. There are times when I think of enjoying a large bowl of Pasta and chicken parmesan and feel sad, but that feeling is short lived when I look in the mirror or get on the scale and can say, the sacrifice was worth it. We can all do this!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

I am very sad, I can't drink anything without feeling pain. I miss eating a full meal with my family. I don't want to hear I will be better for it, I don't want to hear I'll be happy in the end!!! My Husband and me bond over his cooking (he is an amazing cook) and how great it taste and a Martini or 3 almost every night. He is athletic BTW! All the people I told about this surgery said why are you doing this, you're beautiful, you're not that big! I spent most of my life feeling like an IMPOSTOR in my skin. I feel beautiful some days and some days I felt just unattractive and honestly FAT! I could never say that out loud before.

I am depressed alot but I'm functional and the one thing I could control whether happy or sad was what I wanted to eat! Now I don't even have that anymore. It's been replaced by emptiness, unsatisfactory feeling, pain, and loneliness. God I want that beef stew and white rice it smells amazing and probably tastes 100 times better than that. Instead I have to settle FOR MASSIVE Indegestion and 30 MLs of emptiness! I ABSOLUTELY REGRET THIS SO MUCH!!!

Update on my progress. Surgery was May 13. I lost a pound per day the first week, then stalled for 2 weeks. Finally loosing again! Down 26lbs so far, including pre-op diet. Have been working out 5 days per week on elliptical and on regular food now as of Friday. Struggling to get my 60 oz of Water in, but started using my timer yesterday to remind me to sip something every 15 minutes except before and after meals. I have only had nausea once and have only vomited once - both times caused by drinking too close to meals.

Overall, this has been a much better experience than I anticipated since I am 62 yrs old. Surgeon says I'm doing great! I only took 3 days off work, and then worked from home for 2 weeks (desk job).

Great to hear!! I'm waiting surgery I. Sept or Oct. I'm 68 so am glad to hear a positive report!!

I’m scared that This won’t work. I have gone and done something so drastic as to get 80%of my stomach cut out and I will be one of the people who lose 25lbs and my body just stops despite what I do. I am afraid I will have complications. That will make me regret the surgery. I’m just plan worried. Lol

Hi I'm Pat from NE. I'm scheduled for June 27. I see Dr tomorrow to get orders, etc. I have moments if total doubt and moments if absolute no doubt !!! Do you have the support of people around you?

  7. Thanks to all of you for your helpful descriptions! I feel better about trying to picture how life will be after.

I am almost a month away from surgery. I've been pretty positive and sure about my decision but still have short periods where I freak out. And think, what am I doing??

    Your posts helped me today.

Yea!! Great to hear! Tell me more about how abd what you puree. My surgery is in June or July.

  10. Saw Doc yesterday and guess I have to do 1 more visit and will schedule for end of June or first of July. I guess I don't have to do week of liquids pre surgery. We'll talk about post surgery plan on next visit on May 31. I'm still really nervous but not wavering back and forth on decision like I was. Really nervous about telling my only son. I don't think he will be in favor of this at all. ( I should be able to just eat less and stick to it and not risk surgery.) Course I'm imagining that response.

Thanks for this forum. Any suggestions welcome. Still need to hear success stories from folks my age.

  11. Hello, I see Dr. tomorrow but think I'm ready to schedule my surgery for early June. 😅. I am 68 and have yo-yo dieted and gained and lost since I was 14. I am sooo ready to be off of this roller coaster but I need encouragement that this is the right decision!

Also, can anyone give me an idea of meal plans first month after surgery?

I agree with catwoman. Ride that wave as long as you can because when the hunger comes back it gets harder. Many people continue to lose after it comes back but it is not as easy.

I am still pre op and it scares me so much to hear thus. How many of you feel the hunger comes roaring back???
