  1. I had RNY on 2/25/15 and I feel great! However I find that I am frustrated with the food choices I have been given. Will I ever be normal again? Will I be able to go out to eat with my husband and have something resembling normal food. I know that the portions will be small, but I just feel do deprived. Not of sweets of even carbs, Just normal regular food. Like a baked potato, or a banana, Does this get better as time goes on? Please tell me it does!

    My success story

You look Great and sound and look happy. What else can you ask for Happy and Healthy
  4. When speaking with my Surgeon she told me that it is the weight at your appointment just prior to surgery. I would check with the surgeon to see what weight they submit.
  5. I had my band placed in December 2008, after many ups and downs my surgeons office told me that they no longer do the band since they had so many problems with it, they immediately sent me for a barium swallow and said I had a problem with my esophagus. So a complete unfill. Long story short gained weight. Back over 200! So after much soul searching and talking with my diabetes doc, I decided that a revision to RNY was the way to go. Now it seems as though I have to go through the whole process again. I had a little bit of anger around that, and voiced that to the people in the surgery center, Now it seems as though they really do not want to do surgery on me. The therapist told me I was free to find another surgeon if I did not like the way things were going, and the RN told me that I could still work the band. REALLY after they made such a production of telling me what damage it was doing to people and how risky it was to keep it. Then she said maybe I should think about just staying the way I am. What the H###. Does anyone think I should look for another surgeon. Or should I confront these people. I feel persecuted for being angry about the band.
  6. So to make a long story short. I am trying to get approved for a band to bypass revision. I am sure everyone knows about band problems. No my surgeon is telling me I have to start all over with all the classes and appointments. I spoke to the Nurse yesterday and she actually asked me if I wanted to still work with my band or just wanted to give up! What kind of support is that?? I feel that because I stated that I was angry about the band and the fact that they do not even place it anymore( at their office) that they really just don't want to deal with me. But, the good news is I am not going to let them win this battle. This is for me and my health, and they will not push me back or down!
  7. I am so ticked off about this band! My surgeon no longer does the band, due to bad experiences that the patients have had. I am a diabetic and my Endro recommended that I have the by-pass to try to get my diabetes under better control. Now they tell me that I have to start all over again, and this whole process will take 9 to 12 months. That is really depressing, and ticks me off. It was not my fault that this band did not work, they forced me to remove all the Fluid, and won't refill. Just ranting I know, but has anyone else has this happen?
  8. I agree with you, I did not tell anyone except my husband and daughter when I had the band, I think I was afraid it would not work and I would be embarrassed once again. I am going to have a revision to the gastric by-pass and I still feel that it is no-ones business. Do what you feel is right for you. That is how most of us ended up here, worrying about what others think, and taking care of them instead of ourselves.
  9. Does anyone know if you have to go through the whole process again, if you are going to get a revision?
  10. Happy 55th Birthday Sheesh!

  11. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary Sheesh!

  12. I would really like to talk to some people from Maine who have had surgery. Is anybody out there?
  13. Hi my name is Cheryl and I have been banded since 12/30/08 so about 3 months. I think I am doing pretty well, however I would like someone to talk to and ask questions to. My husband is very supportive, but it is not the same as talking with someone who has had the same surgery. I am 51 years old and live in Maine. So if anyone is interested in helping me out my e-mail address is cwkimball@fairpoint.net. Thanks
  14. It seems as though I was doing fine until my first fill. After that I seemed to be able to eat anything and everything. So I called and got another fill...........same problem, so tomorrow I go for another hopefully I will get some kind of restriction. I have gained a couple of pounds and really do not want to see the scaled going in that direction. Any advise would be appreciated

    Casco Bay/ MMC Bariatrics anyone??

I am so happy to hear that you got your approval letter. I know when I got mine I was so happy. No you really have something to look forward too. Keep in mind that you will probably have a period right before surgery when you ask yourself "do I really want to do this" and believe me when I tell you. YES:biggrin: Good Luck
