I have a friend that is an excellent seamstress I am going to get some of my clothes taken in when I lose weight. Not all of them just the ones I spent a lot of money on and still really like. I will ask myself weather its cheaper to replace the item or cheaper to get it altered. I also have a box of clothes in my shed that should fit as I hit my half way point. I bought them once when I lost weight on Atkins and didnt have the heart to get rid of them when I gained it all back (plus some). I even have the box marked with what I need to weigh to wear them lol

I tip my hairstylist 20%. She is the shop owner but by no means rolling in the money. Overhead is MURDER!! If I don't like service at a restaurant I try to give the waitress benefit of the doubt. Everyone has off days and as long as they are trying thats what matters. If I really was unhappy with the service I will drop the tip to 10-15% if I like it its at least 20%.

Did your PCP refer you to a surgeon? If so his/her staff should be well versed in the appeal process and be willing to help you through this. If your insurance is a no go most offices offer financing of some sort. Don't give up remember most things worth anything take a lot of effort!

I will have to look those books up. I've read the binder beginning to end and have been doing a lot of research on the lapband. I will start calling to see if there are any cancellations. I really hope to be ready to proceed beginning of next year!!

Each insurance has their own hoops you have to jump and each surgeon seems to have different procedures. Hopefully when you get referred to the surgeons office that will do the procedure they can get you the game plan. I am with Kaiser I have been told to expect it to take up to a year...I need to work on my patience anyway

I haven't met my case nurse yet. My next apt will either be the one with the medical director where I'm told how much I need to lose or for the psychiatric evaluation. I am assigned to South San Francisco. Its pretty far for me about 90 miles but you do what you gotta do lol. My last apt was with Diane Vecchi the Nutritionist.

Hi Rose I am in SSF as well. Still have a ways to go. Mind me asking if they made you lose the full 10% I am anxious to see what I have to lose before I can proceed. I am of course working on it already about 1/3 of the way there if they want the full 10%.

I hope I react the same as you have so far Robtyty I really want to do the SX on a Thursday or Friday and be back at work (a desk job) on Monday. I have noticed how large a range there is in peoples reactions to the surgery.

I am not sure if it is required but it was highly recommended. The medical director said that if you have sleep apnea and are not being treated for it, You might clamp down on the breathing tube and have to be in ICU until they can get the muscles to release. She said she wanted everyone on their CPAP for 2 months prior to the surgery. It also is an additional co-morbidity that adds weight to your referral.

I completed my nutrition apt this week. Basically she wanted to know if I was applying myself to the program (the eating plan in the binder). If I was taking my Vitamins, exercising and had read and become familiar with the binder. She asked if I had any questions. It mostly seemed like a compliancy check. Additionally someone asked about being weighed. So far every apt I have gone on I have been weighed.

I plan on getting them revitalized when I get to goal. I am a DDD now I was D before I gained all the weight so I expect to lose a good bit and being larger already wanted a lift so I figure a lift and depending on where I end up some extra lol

That is exciting!! I stopped wearing belts as my waist in the morning tends to be quite different from my waist in the evening so I wear clothes that give... those don't generally have belts loops. I look forward to going belt shopping someday!!

PC is supposed to protect people from being judged based on their gender and/or race. Unfortunately if someone is prejudice or truly sexixt (feeling women or minorities are inferior) Political correctness is just a coat of white paint over something rotten. For people who are not prejudice it tends to stilt the conversation and make things uncomfortable as they are always wondering if they crossed the line. PCness doesn’t allow much room for a sense of humor.

I judge sexism more by whats said than how its said...

I doubt your paying for the materials its the visit. Standard for the industry :smile2:

Jachut Thank you for explaining about the fills. I had seen several people talking about restriction with no fills and did not realize that would most likely change as the stomach heals.

I am curious.. I see some people don’t even need a fill to get restriction. Others need several. Did you need a fill? How many have you had? Are you at your sweet spot or still trying to get there? Another question.. If you have restriction without any fill what happens when/if you get pregnant. I thought the procedure was to remove fill so you can eat with greater ease during pregnancy. If you don’t have a fill will your lapband become detrimental to your pregnancy?

I have a question about PB ing.. Its kinda gross but I would like to know what to expect I understand that when you overeat or something gets stuck you.. Burp vomit. Is there advanced warning can you run to the bathroom to hide it. Or are you like a cat with a hairball? Do you feel nausea, pain, both?
