  1. Hi May Sleevers,

Well it's been less than 48 hours since my surgery, and I may be the exception to the rule, but I feel really good! Overnight in the hospital and got great care, good rest, and good meds. Home yesterday and taking it easy. No gas pains at all. A little rumbling and "bubbles" in my abdomen once in a while but no pain. This morning I gulped my gatorade and learned that's not the way to do it :).

Surgery was quick and I don't remember anything passed wheeling out of the prep room. Wishing those of you with upcoming dates an equally seamless beginning.

PS I am self pay with Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, FL, and he has my very highest regards (the hospital staff too!)

One year ago today, my life changed when I walked into the hospital. The past 12 months have not been the easiest and I have had moments that I wish I could finish that 6oz steak, baked potato and the entire plate of roasted veggies they serve at my favorite restaurant. But when I can bike for a couple of hours now and still feel like I could go another two and when I go to the doctor and get on their scale and I weigh less than I did in high school and my blood work is all in the normal ranges, and I can go into the cute clothing boutiques and find things to wear, those annoying mealtime thoughts happen less and less.

I hit and exceeded my goal weight, but then went back up a few pounds above goal...I think I'm in one of my lower weight set points. If it's anything like the past few months, I'll spend several weeks here, then drop again...as long as I stay the course. Still happy with all I accomplished and have absolutely no regrets! Except, I wish I had done it years ago!❤️

I really needed to read this today. Thank you!

I’m scheduled for May 9th. I’m excited and nervous too. I’m reading as much as I can and asking a million questions so I can be prepared for the after.

I could have written this. Scheduled for May 11th and feeling better about the decision every day. It will be here in no time.

Hi everyone! I'm new here with a March 15th surgery date. I'm self-pay with Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, FL. It's all happening pretty fast after having spent years and years researching. My insurance specifically excludes all bariatric procedures. I'm super nervous but also super excited to begin the next chapter of my life.

Good luck on your surgery. I'm also having the Sleeve surgery with Dr. S in May so would love to hear your feedback. I'm sure you'll do well!!

  6. Hi all. I'm scheduled for VSG May 2022 and am looking for Podcast recommendations. I'm not going to Blossom Bariatrics in Vegas, but they have a very informative podcast and I've covered every episode. I've covered Your Bariatric Journey also. Any other suggestions?? Thanks.
