So, if you had a Protein Shake before the test that could affect it.
Good luck!
I was fasting. So I had nothing. I check again this morning and it was still above 200. Idk what's going on 😭

I haven't been taking anything for my blood sugar. But I do metformin prescribe to me. I started taking it last night. I hope this bring it down. It's crazy that it never been in the 200s and now that I've cut back a lot on carbs and drinking more Protein Shakes. My sugar all of a sudden decided to shoot up 🤦♀️

My blood sugar has been going up but it's never been over 200. The last time I had my A1C ran it was 6.5. Guess I'll know in a few days if this is going to prevent me from getting surgery.

I went for my pre-op today and my fasting blood sugar was 250. It's never been that high and today of all days it decided to go high. I'm now worried they won't do my surgery. Idk what to do.

I was given the option. If they or I feel like I need to stay. I can be admitted but if everything is fine they said I could go home. Just trying to figure out how much pain I'll be in.

I've talked to a few people personally and 2 out of 3 said they got really dehydrated and had to get it IV Fluids more then once days after surgery. I'm trying to figure out how to prevent this from happening. I know drink fluids but they said they were but still got dehydrated. Any tricks I need to know. I'm 2 week out from surgery 😬

So going home same day is doable. Thanks

Did you stay the night or did you go home same day?

Did you stay over night at the hospital or did you go home the same day? I'm thinking if going home same day. But not sure if that's the best thing to do. I have a high tolerance for pain. But I know WLS pain might be different.

The premade bottle of apple melon flavor says 25 mg of sodium. Did you go with the premade bottles of Isopure? Cause someone in the review said the powder tastes better than the premade bottles. I guess you could dilute it with a little more Water, maybe that would help? The only other one I've seen that I might try is these... https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatricpal-15g-whey-protein-collagen-shots-apple?variant=41022463181
I tried this powder in a different flavor and I didn't like it. It was ok in a premix but the premix is high in sodium.

I've only tried Isopure. I have the protein20 but I haven't tried it yet. They all seem to be high in sodium. So I've been afraid of even trying the other brand lol. I just wanted to see if anyone had found some lower in sodium.

I've noticed that the clear Proteins are high in sodium. Has anyone found any that is low in sodium? So far the ones I found taste like Pedialyte🤮.

I need correct my statement. I looked it up again. He does Lapband, sleeve, bypass and duodenal switch. Under the bypass info it has info about RYGB but nothing about mini bypass.

6 hours ago, SleeverSk said:Don't over think it, This fear (GERD) drove me to have a melt down right before surgery and to be highly anxious for weeks after surgery. I had reflux before surgery for many years and had been on 20-40 mg of Nexium daily for about 15 years and as my weight got higher so did the occurrence of my reflux to the point of along with the Nexium I was going through a bottle of Gaviscon a week. fast forward 8 months post op I still take 20 mg Nexium daily but only because I am to scared to tapper off as I remember the rebound reflux from prior to surgery when I would try to come off them and I have to be honest I suck a Gaviscon dual tablet if I get the slightest inkling of reflux which I think half the time is in my head lol.
So prior to surgery I told my surgeon reflux was my biggest fear as I didn't want a bypass either and I certainly didn't want to have to have a second surgery, He said the weight loss would reduce the reflux and I think he is right. its just my own fears and thinking about it and sometimes eating the wrong things or too much that causes me get reflux now and its pretty mild.
Now I am going to say this and I don't mean any offence to anyone as it is just what I have observed, a lot people who have had revision surgery due to GERD/reflux also seem to have had a substantial weight gain too, now if anyone out there has experienced different I stand corrected but that's what I have noticed. So that is a pretty good incentive for me not to regain.
Talk to your surgeon though as he/she is the best to advise you we can only share our experiences
Thanks, I've now talked to several that have had the sleeve and did not develop GERD and several that medicine controls it. Most of them say it's the food they eat that will trigger it. I've have recently figured out my triggers and it's coffee for me. I have started taking nexium just so I get it in my system before surgery. It might just end up being something I do now. Because of my fear of getting GERD.

9 hours ago, GradyCat said:I had the sleeve and my GERD and acid reflux actually went away. I had it before surgery but not after. Just FYI. Also, you could just opt to do the bypass instead of the sleeve.
I don't qualify for bypass. My bmi isn't high enough. I'm still on track for surgery. My nerves are still high but I'm going to go through with it.

I have band issues (vomiting, liquid in my throat when I wake up, reflux, etc.). I’m meeting with Dr. Houston to consult about a revision. Any one on here use him? Any positives or negatives? I’m self-pay. Thanks!
Did you use him? I just noticed this was from 2021

Good luck to you also. We just have to focus on the reasons we are getting this done. A healthier lifestyle and new life.

My surgery date is scheduled for April 26th. I'm a ball of emotions right now. Im sure it will be worse the days just need before 🥴
-
I'm following this because this is information that will be very helpful. I've been so focused on the surgery part, (I've almost canceled but for now im still on track for March 26th). I need to focus on the diet part after surgery. Because no diet/lifestyle change before surgery ever worked lol.

But.., do you think you would have been ok to go home the same day? My surgery time is set for 8am. And they said they would release me around 6pm that night. I have to option and I'll pack a over night bag just in case.
