3 months. I can’t believe how much I was craving raw vegetables by then.

Hi! My program stresses lean Proteins at the stage I'm in (pureed), so I'm eating canned chicken breast, tuna, and sometimes egg salad. They cautioned me on sodium, which is usually very high in canned and condensed Soups. I think the concern is sodium can dehydrate you. Sounds funny, but I searched on Pinterest for simple recipes I could make at home and customize to my liking. Many of the pins link to bariatric patient geared sites with people years into their journey, so there's lots of insight and tips.

I've been sticking to the same old, too. Chicken and mayo, tuna, egg salad. No sugar added applesauce is my go-to side. I bought a sugar free BBQ Sauce called G Hughes, so yesterday I heated up a tiny bowl of pureed chicken and mixed in a dab of sauce. Can't recommend it enough!

Congrats to all on a fast and uneventful surgery. I'm almost 1 week out. Everyday is different. I'm very low energy but trying to stick with Keto diet, at least in the beginning because I lose weight so slow normally. I have some health issues which aren't helping the low energy issue. Sometimes I'm surprised I'm hungry. I heard that generally in the first stages you aren't that hungry. The good news is having 4 oz of Protein Drink gets rid of the hunger. But its a good thing my refridge and pantry are emptied of anything I shouldn't be eating right now! I suspect I'm much older than a lot of people on this board.

For my surgeon's program I'm on full liquids week 1 and 2, pureed 3 and 4, and soft solids 5 and 6. So no regular diet until week 7.

I was eating "regular" food at a month, but I didn't turn back to eating junk food, pastas, and bad foods that made me fat in the first place. I just ate REAL food.

I was eating regular food from soft food. Just introduced new meats, vegetables, etc. slowly as I was able. Same with herbs, spices, etc. So basically what everyone else was eating just smaller portions. Some foods didn’t taste good to begin because of the temporary changes to my taste buds. And sometimes my tummy was just fussy & didn’t like some foods at times. Really it was just a matter of choosing more tender cuts & how they were cooked & prepared to keep what I was eating relatively moist & tender. I was eating bolognese with zucchini noodles, meatballs with gravy, slow cooked chicken chasseur (though the wine I added was disgusting), omelettes, steamed/poached fish, meat & vegetable Soups, etc, in soft food. Was eating steak, chicken thighs, lamb, pork tenderloin with some vegetables pretty quickly in solid foods. Gave up shakes from purées & was eating ‘real’ food - just puréed then of course 😉.
Guess it comes down to what you consider ‘regular’ food. As long as it complies with your food plan, & you’re meeting Protein goals & not exceeding sugar, fat & carb recommendations you were given, you’ll be fine. You can always discuss options with your dietician to be sure.

My husband did this to me and made me feel like crap because of it. I still felt it was best for me and went through with it and I basically said this is what I want and I hope you can become supportive of my decisions. He has come around and is now very helpful and supportive. Express how much it means to you and that you hope they will become supportive good luck with your surgery!

Mine is tomorrow at 3pm as well. I’m sure they mean well but some of our supporters just have no idea what we’re going through. Respectfully acknowledge their feedback but tell them confidently you know what’s best for you and their support would mean a lot to you but if they don’t support it could they keep their comments to themselves. I wish you the best God has in store for you and a very uneventful surgery & recovery!

When you are in the PURÉED stage, do you put meat in a blender? I don’t know if I can do that. I would rather skip meat while in that stage.

I’m 5 days post surgery and super excited to connect with you all. I’m struggling with a few things, namely getting in my fluids, pain management and low blood sugar issues. I spoke to my doctor today who recommended that I try some thinned out cream of wheat to add some carbs and try to keep my blood sugar at a more normal level. Is anyone else dealing with this? Also, what are you doing to make sure that you get enough Fluid. I’m trying, but it just seems overwhelming and even with my small 3 ounce shot glasses, I don’t feel like I’m getting even close to 40 ounces of fluids. I’m at the high 20s, low 30s.

Hey y’all! Boy have I had a roller coaster! I had VSG on Tuesday 2/22/22 and it has been a medical roller coaster. I started with a great CBC before surgery and it quickly went downhill. Tuesday night my HR was 122 resting so I had to have a Bolus of saline. That corrected but I was still bleeding internally. I lost more and more blood Wednesday-Thursday and my BP dipped to 74/52 at one point. I felt lightheaded and faint and couldn’t get out of bed. Doc told me the internal bleeding was pretty normal for this procedure. Things turned around on Thursday and my anemia started to correct itself so the doc sent me home. The remaining effects will last weeks the doc says. My only real problem now is I am extremely hungry. I’ve read it could be acid but I’m on Protonix once a day. Anyone has experience with post-op hunger? Anything help it?

For vitamins I use the Walmart childrens chewable and they work ok for me for Calcium I use Caltrate plus Vitamin D and I’ve had good luck with that the Protein Shakes I couldn’t do I ended up finding Premier Protein juice and I handle that pretty well or get unflavored Protein powder and add it to something u can drink or add it to applesauce that’s what was recommended to me

Hey…congrats. I had my surgery on 2/16 and I was just put on puréed foods 2 days ago. I went in at 236 and now I am 226, I think most of it is due to walking, My doctor has me walking at least one hr a day because unfortunately I am unable to excel is due to knee damage. I am back at school and work as well. Other than the occasional reflux or gas pain I am much better. I saw that a pair of pajama pants that were normally tight were no longer so and there was extra room in them now. I haven’t checked my weight since Thursday but I am pretty sure I done loss some more.
