    Weight Loss Stopped?

I started seeing a slowdown in weight loss around 13 months post OP and now the scale is hardly moving. I read that the rate will be high at first and will slow down as you about to reach your goal weight. I still want to lose 5 kg more but I'm not stressing about it. Planning to start exercising and hopefully that will help. I read some people here have tried fasting / IF to jumpstart the weight loss. I remember you posted about trying IF. How is that working for you? The important thing is to not stress too much about. I always remind myself that I've gained all that weight over a number of years and to lose it all over a few months would be a drastic change. Good luck
  2. Hi. I'm 18 months post MGB so I can relate. I had a similar experience like you but it was after 12 months or so. Everyone is different. What I do now is I make sure that I've something healthy to snack on with me. I pack extra salad with lots of lettuce and take it with me to the office. If I feel hungry, I'll have that otherwise I'll be looking for something else to eat. For me, I think it is a mental thing and not a real hunger. If I eat just a little or drink water or coffee it goes away. I hope this helps. Checking with your surgeon is a good idea

    What Made You Smile Today?

    This gives me ideas haha
  4. Thanks for the kind words. The vacation was amazing and for the first time I felt like I've got my money worth of fun. I was part of the action and not just an observer.
  5. Thanks buddy! Likewise. I also enjoy seeing your progress photos. I will be posting about my recent island trip so stay tuned for that. Lots of NSVs
  6. Before (2013) and after (two days ago) photos taken at the same spot, 10 years apart. I'm officially half the man I used to be (74.5 kg down from 149 kg on WLS day). I obviously learned how to pose in photos 😂

    January 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi surgery buddy! Glad to hear that you are feeling good and loving the way you look. Well done and I hope you reach you goal. I'm also having the best time of my life and this past year and half has been filled with lots of NSV and proud moments. I'm now half the man I used to be. I weighed 74.5 kg this morning compared to 149 kg before WLS (74.5 kg or 164 lbs lost so far). My goal is 70 Kg so I have to lose 4 more kilos but I'm not in a hurry. I just came back from a short holiday with my family and I was able to do and try a lot of things that were impossible before. I'll post about it soon.
  8. Thank you so much! I feel awesome too. All the best
  9. Totally agree with you. That is why I like this community. You get to interact with and hear from people who have been through the same.
  10. I totally agree with this. This is similar to first world problems haha. Hopefully no one will go off on a tangent about these too. The intention of this particular post was not to brag (or humble-brag) about any of the "good problems" that I or the others have listed. I do that in other posts 🤣. My intention was simply to highlight what I consider to be problems or inconveniences right now (albeit minor). I think most of those who have replied got the gist of it but apparently some didn't which is fine. We can all have different views on things, otherwise life will be boring. We should just be civil when expressing our views. Problems can vary in severity. There are inconveniences (like me not being able to get the shirts I want on sale) and major issues like having high blood pressure before WLS. Only (some of) the people who had WLS will relate.
  11. I couldn't agree more. The whole intention of this post was to hear from others who "get it". I appreciate that some people don't.
  12. Have you noticed your opinions becoming unpopular after WLS? I don't usually label my opinions as unpopular because that would sound like humble bragging. They are just my opinions. Not necessarily true or a fact.

    What Made You Smile Today?

I might have done that on purpose last week lol. I wore a shirt that is 2 sizes bigger than my current shirts to the office. I got a ton of comments from my colleagues which was nice haha. I think I missed people's commenting on my weight loss which has stopped for a while now.
  14. We went to the beach over the weekend and was so ready to try the banana boat since I was below the weight limit. The queue was so long and my kids wanted to play on the sand so I ended up not doing it. Now I have a good reason to go back again. We rented beach chairs and I was comfortably sitting on one without fearing it might break.
  15. I was able to break a lot of bad habits after WLS but I've developed new ones along the way. I'll share some of mine and I'm keen to hear yours too. Some of the Bad habits before WLS: 1. Spending a lot of money on junk food (fast food, potatoes chips, chocolate etc) specially when I'm at work. 2. Procrastination when it comes to exercising and doing something about my weight. I've reached a stage where I've decided to just let myself go and do nothing about it 3. Avoiding social gatherings if I knew that photos will taken or if it involves any sort of physical activity 4. Eating before going to bed and while watching TV I'm glad to report that I've broken all of the above and I couldn't be happier. Bad (not necessarily) habits after WLS 1. Spending a lot of money on new clothes. I can't resist buying new clothes if it fits or I know it will fit me in a month time or so. Yesterday I went to the mall to buy tomatoes from the supermarket and ended up buying 2 polo shirts, 1 shirt and new jeans 🤣. I got the tomatoes of course. 2. I hate looking at old photos of me and I really don't like the way I looked in those. I didn't have this feeling before. 3. I take a lot of selfies and photos of myself now haha. I guess I'm making up for past time 4. I'm not telling people the whole truth when asked how I lost the weight. I only tell them about diet and exercise and even show them my latest cycling records but nothing about the WLS. If only told a handful of people about my WLS because I thought they could benefit from one. One of my friends is planning his WLS next month. 5. I don't like how certain parts of my body look after losing a lot of weight (I don't hate tho) like my armpits which have turned into caves, the loose skins on my belly, my scars. I guess I'm a bit self conscious about those.
  16. I used to have this issue as well but thankfully it is gone now. I'm 18 months post WLS.
  17. I hope all goes well with the surgery. I can relate to a lot of items on your list. Hopefully these will soon be replaced with healthy and good habits after WLS. You got this!
