    Hi all,

I had the gastric sleeve surgery done in December and found out I was pregnant in May. I know it was advised to wait 12-18 months before getting pregnant, but I had a slip up. It’s all good news to me seeing as I never thought pregnancy would be possible at all for myself. I think like all first timers I am nervous about many things, my surgeon called me to reassure me that while it’s not ideal he is sure everything is going to be fine. I’ve lost nearly 85 pounds, but this week gained 2. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any other sleevers who have gotten pregnant and if they could tell me what their experience was like, during pregnancy and after. Will the weight come off just as easy after the baby is born?

First of all, no you cannot have your sleeve reversed or stretched surgically. This is a permanent, irreversible surgery. So you need to come to terms with that because there is no "out" at this point. Holding out for your "old" life is going to cause some serious trauma, so take a moment and let yourself begin processing the fact that this is your life now. Second of all, if the attraction to food is stronger than your desire to live a long, healthy life, then its probably time to have a conversation with a therapist. You can and will one day eat relatively normally again, though maybe not the portions you had before surgery, so you need to give it time. And the period of restriction is minimal compared to the rest of your life. But it sounds like there is some underlying mental/emotional things that need to be dealt with. If you truly feel that being able to eat "normally" right NOW is worth more to you than your life, or that the strain of post-op life is more than you can handle, please consider getting some qualified support. You CAN do this and it IS worth it. We want to see you succeed and be healthy and well, but you're going to need to get some help.

My surgery date is 02/24. I started my preop diet on 2/10, well I fumbled the first 2 days with one meal but followed everything else (protein drinks etc). After that I’ve been on track since. I think I was honestly having a hard time to adjust those first 2 days,
I felt so empty not being able to consume food but I actually feel amazing now on this Pre op diet journey. I’m nervous about the actual surgery operation but I’m ready for the change and outcome! I’ve struggled with weight my entire life and like I tell people all the time it’s not as easy for everyone to lose as everyone’s body is different also with genetics coming into play. Good luck everyone we got this!!
