    what's up with gaining?!

Chin Up!!!! if you have only gained 4 lbs then your still in the good! you will go up and down by atleast 5 lbs at any point in time.... you must becareful to pay close attention to what you are eating tho... it could be Water weight, it could be you period, it could be the salt in your diet... so chin up your on the right path!! surgery date: 12/18/09 loss weight to date: 90 lbs
  5. I was 306 and now at 271 .... i lost all of mine before the band. i got my first fill 01/26/09 so i am ready to see what this will be like. i walk 1/2 mile every other day and try to do a full mile on the weekends... i guess i am looking for insite on how to do better right from the start.

  6. 'COntinued' (first half was too long apparently - read 1st half first) both by itself(sweetened with splenda and served with fruit and a little cereal), in protein shakes for extra protein and fullness, and in recipes: soups for creaminess, mashed potatoes (I pretty much substitute it for anything I would normally get sourcream for) if you've never had it - you would never guess that it's fat free (my favorite brand is Fage) for 1- 6oz serving it is only 90 calories but 20 grams protein.

It has also helped that I love to cook - so I am always experimenting, trying new things, experimenting with ways to make favorites more band friendly.

I also try to drink at least 2 liters water a day - thank God for crystal lite and sugar free powerade.

I did average about 8-10 lbs a month for the first couple but I'm about 4-6 now.

I hope some of this helps - GOOD LUCK!

  7. Thank you very much! I hope you have great success - I'm not sure where you're starting at - but I have lost some more initially than some because I was 300+ to start. It also took me several fills though before I got restriction because I have a bigger band. I'll admit right off the bat that I may have even done better had I exercised sooner - it wasn't until this last month or two that I have really exercised with regularity. My big keys to nutrition have been to allow some treats frequently here and there - but not keep them in the house (or I have problems) but I focus on eating a lot of protein with my biggest key being nonfat plain greek yogurt -

  8. hello, i came across your profile pictures and wanted to say congrats on your success! i also would like to know what have you been eating and what exercise program are you on. i would love to have this much success with my 8 months that you have had.

I had surgery on 12/18 and i have lost 40 lbs but this was all before my surgery ... so far i have not lost any weight but i go tomorrow (01/21) for my 1st fill.... i am so ready to get my weightloss ball rolling!!!

    any advise would be helpful!!

    Alabama bandster

I want to give Dr. Robbins a shout out for putting Southeast Alabama on the Lap-Band map! I am set for my 7th month weight in on 11/17 and get my surgery date on 11/20. Please say a little prayer for me that BCBS of Alabama will respond quickly with an "Approved" for surgery and that I will be scheduled the 3rd week of December for surgery.... I don't want to go through the Holidays with not having it done. I also want to say "Congrats" to us all for making a stand to take care of ourselves. I know that I am so guilty for taking care of others in my life that I have let myself go in a direction that is not good for me. So again "Congrats" to all of us on taking our stand on weight loss.

    6 Month "Diet" Requirement

my insurance company also requires this 6 month diet. my doctor said that the reason is to see if you are really series about having this done. You need to try to loose weight and follow the 2 week pre-op diet by your doctor. You cannot weight more than you did when you first started this process with your doctor or they will refuse it. With that being said you should not try and kill yourself to loose 100lbs either. This 6 months is to help you get prepared for your new life after being banded.
