    OOTD

I love to see this thread, it makes me dream, this weekend, for the first time I dared buying smaller clothes, I am waiting for the delivery and want to try them right away. I had saved some clothes I liked 1 or 2 smaller sizes than my pre-op size, but even those are staring to feel too big. I am leaving the "X" world for the first time in 17 years, and I feel un-safe. What if I regain the weight like it happened many times before?! I am starting to feel hungry again, I notice I can eat more than the 2 oz per meal/snack. It is scary!
  2. Today I am 3 months PO. I did not suppose to eat salads according to my dietician but I had to travel for a couple of weeks and it was not always easy to have access to the food I was asked to have, so, small garden salads were awesome, just added 2 slices of ham or chicken. I had them with Italian dressing or ranch but only a few drops, added bonus was that it has eliminated the constipation completely. I told my dietitian and she was not too happy but she said if it was working to keep going only to be sure to add some protein like shredded almonds, chicken, tuna or turkey ( she said salmon too but I do not like salmon) and to eat the protein first. I cannot stand the pre-made protein shakes, so I make a smoothie with 1/4 banana. one strawberry and 6 blueberries, the last week I have been adding a few spinach leaves and Nopal ( cactus) then I add the protein powder with no flavor. I am loosing weight slower than many others in the February group but I am still loosing.
  3. thanks for the tip I will try it.
  4. Hello Feb 2022 group, since we are sharing here I go. I have lost 53 pounds but most of them on the first month, the last month I lost only 10. Almost 3 months PO I cannot eat eggs, bread, pasta or tortillas, I used to love tacos and I have not enjoyed one during the last 3 months. 2 weeks ago I started having salads and I love that I can have a decent amount. I feel full very quickly still half of a cup of solid food sometimes less, I had to travel recently for work and family and during that time it was easy to drink water but now that I am back at home I am struggling again I can do a little more than 32 oz. still pushing it. I am not a fan of protein shakes but try to do some smoothies with fruits and protein dust ( eww) since I know I am not getting all the protein I need from food. I felt bad for a few days and ended up in ER, I got a CT and endoscopy and everything seem to be fine but I am suffering from reflux, I took some pills for it and now I seem to be able to control it with not eating too close to bed time, reclined bed etc. I wish you all to be successful fast or slow however our bodies decide they want to go.
  5. I work from home, I had not been back to the office in 5 months until this week, I did not believe people were going to notice at work that I lost weight but they did. They asked, I said I had surgery, most did the normal questions, how are you feeling ( some good days some not), what can you eat etc. I said I have a long way to go and I know about cases where people gain weight so I asked them to wish me luck. I understand people will comment but I do not think they will say something negative to my face when they know I am strugling. I do not have access to a car, I am staying at an apartment and I have access to food that I can eat but my coworkers did not know it. To my surprise all the 3 days that I have been here some of my coworkers have been giving me food that I can eat ( they were listening) which is good for lunch and dinner. Their help made me feel very good. While we are trying to protect ourselves from negative comments we may also be missing support from other people. I made a decision for my health and wellbeing, time will say if I made the right decision for me. Some people may surprise you in a bad way but others will surprise you in a good way. You decide which ones diserve more of your time and attention.

Did you lose your tummy fat last?

You have lost 166#, that is a lot, and you are very tall. I was 165# 20 years ago when I got married. By then I was already starting my endless diets and exercise routines which worked for a while and then bring me more weight each time. I know that works for many people I just could not find the right combination that worked for me. My psychologist told me to be merciful with myself during this period, like I would be with a dear friend who needed help. I do not hate what I see in the mirror, I still like that person (belly and all). I an happy to have found this page, it is nice to find support from people who understands exactly what I am going trough. Thanks for being kind to me.

Thanks and congratulations on your progress, I am sure you still looked cute in your big suit. I may be too focused on the before and after pictures and videos that I see online. The differences are so obvious and I start dreaming but then I see myself and ... oh!! sad reality!. I must be patient and hope that all this discomfort pays up some day. I do not complain I have never lost 35 pounds in 6 weeks before and I tried a lot harder than this.

Did you lose your tummy fat last?

Hey, I would like to hear this, I have not lost dramatically as other people here but what is gone is from the parts I did not mind to have fat LOL. Tummy is still there, my husband says it is getting smaller but the mirror does not agree with him.

    Worried and regretting…

Oh what a great idea! I will try making protein popsicles, I can't believe that I prefer to eat a bowl of cooked vegetables that one of those protein shakes.
  11. I do not know if it counts. I am used to take my blood pressure every morning after taking my pills. I normally just slide my arm in the sleeve of my monitor without adjusting the Velcro. Well, yesterday I had to re adjust the sleeve because it was too loose in my arm
  12. I tried Ground beef on week 4 after Gastric Bypass and that is the fist time I got the foam in my mouth. It happens each time I try beef, even a little bite, both surgeon and nutritionist told me to wait until month 4 to try it again and if it still gave me discomfort wait until month 6. I have always liked beef but lucky for me I do not miss it now. Surgeon told me that when I have the foam the best is to have warm liquids and wait.

    Slow eating

Oh thanks, I think I have a yeti cup somewhere in my kitchen I will see if it is still there. I did not think about that one.

    Slow eating

I am having problems slowing down too, all the doctors blame my discomfort to the fact that I eat too fast. One of the issues is that I do not want to eat cold food, especially when I am eating a soup or mushy food, I found that using paper plates keeps the food warm a little longer but I have to microwave it again during a meal, what do you guys do about it?
  15. hello, I hope you are feeling better today.
  16. I got blood tests yesterday, they found some issues but not anemia, I hope you get your levels up quickly. Had you started with vitamins? I did a few days ago but I do not know how good they will work.
  17. Aha!! well, yes I read so many of those this week, thanks, I found this website after my surgery so I have a lot to catch up. The newest thing I discovered is "foamies" 🤧
  18. Thank you Teeva,🌷 I can feel like I have lost weight and everybody tells me I look like I have lost, but I am so used to get the scale validation, it may not be healthy, like you, my sisters recommended me to weight myself less often, to avoid wrong decisions while chasing a smaller number. I had some other issues yesterday I went to ER ( long story) they found my Potassium was low between other things, today I will follow up with my surgeon and my nutritionist to see what is going on.
  19. I am 4 weeks PO now, but feeling very worried, since last week I started taking vitamins, it may be a coincidence or not but the scale is broken, it was very nice to see one pound or half of one gone every day but for the last 8 -10 days the scale does not want to move, I even gain one or 2 pounds, it is driving me nuts!. I finally can take the 64 oz of water, I am eating 2 ounces of food 3 times a day and my snacks are liquids or 2 oz of yogurt. I am walking 60 minutes in the treadmill every other day. I am making the 60gr protein per day even taking those horrible tasting protein drinks. What does the scale want from me?!
  20. Hi, I had my first egg today, I had been dreaming about it, I normally have them over easy, I could only eat half of it and it was bleh!! my dog enjoyed the rest and she ate it in one bite, I felt jealous. next time I will boil it and have only the white, feels like I had one of those IHOP breakfast with pancakes and everything.

    Acid Reflux

I have suffered from GERD for years, some times bad some times terrible, I have also been in ER many times thinking I have a heart attack because of chest pains. I love spicy food and sometimes I had to choose between eating and sleeping. After the bypass, it has been gone, but it may be because I am only in the liquids phase. I had another issue, pain in my legs, like chronic, I have not lost that much of weight, I think what I have lost is mostly water but those pains are gone, I was worried I was not going to be able to take Ibuprofen ( which I know contributed to my GERD) but I am surprised I have not need any during the last 2 weeks. I am having problems to eat slowly, to recognize when I am full and stop before over eating, That hurts and makes me feel sick but each meal is a chance for a new test. I can't get out of my mind to eat all that is in the plate. ( Mommy did a good job on me ) I have some pain still in 2 of the incisions but it gets better. It is a good exchange for GERD and legs and back pain.
  22. Hi honey10604, I am sorry you have had a difficult start, in the post operation consultation I told my dr about pain in the esophagus, I told hm, it felt like It was so closed, he said the tube they put will leave it sore for a while, even in the morning when I have not even tried to sip water it hurts, he also told me that the omeprazole in the morning nd the night should help with this, I need to take it for at least 60 days after surgery. I then remembered I took one and had not taken more, so I am more careful with that phill and it did a big difference. yesterday was my first day I could have 56oz of water, it is difficult, I will try warm water with drops of lime today I hope it makes it more easy to pass. feel better soon.
  23. I second all of this, very important.
  24. Hello all, I just discover this forum, it is great to have a group of people sharing experiences, I found that no matter how much I thought I read about the surgery, it is different when you are living it. I had my surgery on 2/3/22 my weight was 253 I was loosing weight fast but yesterday and today I slowed down, I am 235 today but not complaining. I am having issues drinking the recommended amount of water and since today I can have non clear liquids, I will have some oatmeal for breakfast, I am excited, the complication so far is that maybe one of the medicines gave me an allergy my face was all red and it was painful but that is going away now, I started working from home yesterday and sitting for long periods hurts my incisions I have to remember to stand up more often, but that was one of the contributing factors to my weigh. Good luck to all of you who are going trough this, a friend of mine who had the same surgery keeps reminding me that it will get better soon.
