Your band is your tool and it is up to you on what you do with it. If you eat foods that you are not suppsed to be eating then you will not lose much weight. If you eat the right foods and work out it will do amazing things. I hear of so many people that get banded and the next week they are eating at pizza buffets and lasagna and they wonder why they are not losing weight. Fight your temptations and thow away any bad foods that you may have in your house. If you feel like a snack grab a strawberry or a grape instead of chips or crackers. Eat chicken and fish instead of hamburger or steak. If you take the yolk out of your eggs you are saving 5 grams of fat! But the egg white has just as much protein! :mad2: You may want to get a fill if you feel that you are needing one. I am not the biggest expert on fills. I have only had one and I am 8 months post op. I hope this will help you fight your temptations! Hang in there. Best wishes to you!

Try to eat as healthy as possible and work out a lot. I eat a light fruit yogurt for Breakfast. 4 strawberrys and 6 cheese cubes for lunch. Then I walk to the gym .5 miles and run 2 miles on the treadmil and walk back another .5 miles. I drink a lot of water!! Then I will do two scoops of Protein in 16 oz of skim milk. When I go home from work I will usally eat a grilled chicken breast with some broccoli and maybe some long grain rice if I am really hungry. Then I will do 50 min of circuit training after my stomach has settled. I have lost 131 lbs in 8 months so it must work. Good luck to you I hope this information has helped you.

I had the same problem! They took out .10 cc and I was fine! I would have your doctor take some Fluid out. Throwing up your food is not a good thing! You want to keep all of the nutrition that you can get. Plus throwing up will make you lose weight fast but it will also increase your chance of sagging skin. It is best to not go through that. Good luck to you! :frown:

If you cant do anything else you should walk, walk, walk. You will be amazed at what walking will do for you. Then once you have mastered the walking stage you can boost it up to running! Working out is very important!! Keep up the good work! :frown:

I do not have any pictures but I have seen one filled with 8 cc's before. There is not a lot of room. I would say about the size of a marker. It was really cool to see just how tight that thing can get. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you find any pics. Thanks

I am not the one you would want to get advise from on this one. I am almost 5 months out and never had a fill. I finally talked my doctor into giving me one and when he went in with the needle he was stabbing all around trying to find the port, That hurt. The next time he decided that he was going to do it with me under an x-ray. I went in just to find out that my port is upside down! I am going in for surgery again tomorrw. I hope that your fill will be great and they can hit it on the first try. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems to follow me. Although I am down 99 lbs since 9/24/08! So I guess I shouldn't complain. If they can find your port right off then it will be no big deal. Just like giving blood from your arm. Good luck let me know how it goes!

Quite smoking!!! You do not want to go into surgery not being able to breathe. I smoked for about 10 yrs and stopped in 2003. It was still hard for me to breathe after surgery. Stop as soon as possible. It will save your health as well as your pocket book.
Most people get 3-4 fills a year. It all depends on the person and what you are needing.
If you go on vacation they can take Fluid out of your band but just expect to gain weight.
I have tried multiple diets and I went up and down over and over again. I have lost 63 lbs so far and I am still going down. I love my band and wouldn't trade it for the world. Good luck to you and your band journey!

It is normal to feel nervous and scared but there is nothing to worry about. I do not regret my band I think it is the best thing I ever did for myself. I was banded on 9/24/08 and I have lost a total of 63 lbs. Who would regret that. As far as the food I have not found anything that I am not able to still eat. The first fill may change that but it is still worth it. I went to a bridal shower where they had pizza I ate my applesauce and just thought to myself that they are gaining weight while I am loosing it. Always think of the possitive. You will do great! Good luck to you and your journey with your band!

can you still have the lapband surgery if you are on your period or spotting?Just remember they do give you blood thinners so make sure you bring enough protection.

Can someone tell me what items are allowed during the clear liquid phase??Thank you for your help:tt1:
Clear liquids consist of Water, Crystal light, chicken broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicle, Decaffeinated coffee or tea, low calorie no sugar added apple, grape, orane juice without pulp(limit 4oz), Low-calorie cranberry juice, whey Protein supplements, or Isopure Liquid Protein. Yummy Yummy. Actually when you are on these you do not feel like eating so it is ok.

Hi Java Beans
I was banded 9/24/08. I was sore after the surgery but the procedure was done on a Wednesday and I was able to return to work on that Monday. I was still a little sore but all in all I was good. I have not had any problems with my band so far and hope to never have any. I do not regret my decsion nor would I take it out. I have lost a total of 58 lbs so far and I am looking forward to loosing more! I wish you the best of luck and hope your journey is a sucess.

I went to one last night, as part of my pre op requirements. I originally planned for this to be the only one, but after going I really see how it is of great benefit. I just wish there were more bandsters.... the majority of attendees at my doctors meeting were bypass patients.Either way, I enjoyed the meeting.
Does anyone attend meetings regularly? What benefits do you see in it?
Yes yes yes I love the meetings. I get so much out of the meetings. You can ask any question that is a concern for you and get the answers from people who have already lived it. I went before my surgery and I still go every month. I even went the day after my sugery!!

Fight the urge!! Eat something that you can have or ask someone to move the pizza away from your desk. Don't fall off of your diet! It is very important that you follow what they say. Just think of it this way everyone that is going to eat that pizza will be fat and you will be skinny!! I hope this helps. Good luck

OK question for u guys. I am 6 months post op and have been having some hair loss. Not major Patches or anything. But everytime I wash my hair or comb my hair there is a noticable amount of hair being lost. I have thin hair to begin with and dont wish to be bald. I get my requirements of Protein a day if not more so I know that is not the problem. I have also had blood work done and it is nothing to do with that. Does anyone have any tricks they know of that can reduce the Hair loss that doesnt involve increasing the Protein. Oh and I also take 2 Biotin Vitamins a day too ( hair nail and skin vitamin) I know that hair loss can occur after surgery and rapid weight loss... but this SUCKS... would appreciate any thoughts:lol:I get lots of protein more than suggested and I also use Pantene Beautiful Lengths Shampoo. The shampoo is supposed to make your hair stronger to grow longer. I am not sure if it helps a lot or not. I do not shed but some of the proceeds of that shampoo goes to cancer patients that don't have any hair. :tt1: Good luck to you in your journey

I must say I have tried all of these foods and I can eat them all except I choose to stay away from anything greasy or fried. It is all in the person.
