    February 2022 Surgery Buddies

My surgery was on 2/25 and I like some of you have been having trouble getting fluids and proteins in as well. It has truly been a struggle for me! I was having severe pain and cramps for 2 weeks with even drinking water. I've gotten through that stage and can now eat and drink without much pain yet I still have trouble with what to eat and just how to get my protein in. During those two weeks of struggle, I was dehydrated so at least now I am able to drink fluids. I had to go to ER to get rehydrated with fluids and electrolytes. I try to drink protein waters to get both in at the same time but I must say I still feel at times I am having a hard time. I don't feel that I get much support from my WLS Team other than them telling me to just keep trying (as if I am not). By the way, I have only lost 5 lbs since my surgery. They tell me that I haven't lost weight due to not getting my proteins in and that I need to start exercising. I am still very weak and unable to stand for long periods of time (more than 20 minutes or so) without having cramps or pain in my stomach and once my work day is over I usually lay around or sleep the rest of the day. Thank God that I work from home. I am staying hopeful that this is yet one more phase that I have to go through and soon I will be on the other side of this as well. Is anyone else experiencing these types of symptoms 4 weeks out from surgery?

Annabelle, I had my daughter do the same to me as I was walking out the door to the hospital so I kinda understand how you feel! My minister friend to me to rest in the peace that God gave me and don’t look back. Continue to do what is best for me! So I say the same to rest! Stay focused on the reason you made this decision in the first place. Allow God’s Peace to comfort you! I pray you have a very successful surgery and recovery as well! 🙏🏽❤️ My surgery was Friday and I’m home and doing well at this time! 💐

    Anyone Like Popcorners?

@GradyCat I love Popcorners! My favorite is the Kettle corn flavor. Have you tried those?

Surgery on 2/25 - Liquid Diet on 2/20

Thanks so much @summerseeker for sharing! I have prepped with a few things that I like now and a few things that I think I may want to try post op. I didn't go overboard on any one particular thing as I have read that taste buds can and do change. I have a few good books that I need to read so I figure that now would be a good time to get caught up on my reading! 📖 I usually tolerate pain fairly well and think that I will do well but of course, we never know until we get there. Thanks again for responding! I will update soon with how things are going for others that may be beginning their journey behind me!
  6. Hello All, I'm anxious and pretty excited about my upcoming surgery! 🙂Counting down the days...Just 9 days left! I can't believe it's almost here! When I went in for my final dietician appointment today she told me that my BMI was in close range that I may have been able to forego the 5 day liquid diet but it didn't happen. I still have to do it. No worries...I am prepared for it. For those that have gone before me...Any tips or suggestions to make it easier or more tolerable? I assume preparation is the key! Any tips and for day of or post op surgery pain relief? Praying that everyone has great success with their surgery and weight loss!❤️

    February 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hello All, My RNY surgery is scheduled for 2/25 and I am a bit anxious yet excited to get on with this new life journey! I'm in the process of meal planning/prepping for the the pre-op and post-op diet to be as prepared and successful as I can be. I have my last pre-surgery dietician appointment on 2/16. It's always helpful to gather helpful information and tips from those that have gone before you. So, if there is anything that you all feel would be helpful, as far as pre-op, post-op, day of surgery tips, after surgery suggestions, vitamin recommendations, pain relief suggestions, or any other thing you can think of...I would love to hear about it. 😉 Thanks in advance!
