My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

You look so happy pre-op and suffering but beautiful post-op. Thanks for sharing the pics I showed them to my tummy.
  3. I have tickets to the opera on May 29 which is just two weeks post-op. I’m wondering if I should exchange/refund them. The flyer for this opera just arrived in today’s mail and it looks so beautiful that I would hate to miss it. Will I be ok taking the train and sitting for a long while? Would that be pushing myself too much? Does anyone have similar going out after surgery stories that you can share?
  4. Thanks. I will play it by ear. I’m wondering about stamina post-op.

    You are all my buddies

We got this! I’m so glad my doc recommended surgery. I didn’t know it was covered by insurance. I haven’t seen 220 in over a decade! My goal is to lose 150 pounds. My highest weight was 285 and now I’m 265. I hope you get the surgery date you want. And survive Teacher Appreciation Week. What happened to being appreciated with some nice apples? 😂
  6. I’m 3 weeks out from surgery. May 16. Gastric Bypass. I’m 60. 5’6. 43 BMI. With so many co-morbidities ! Diabetes, high blood pressure. Arthritis in knees and ankles. Last weekend I got very down, thinking if I hadn’t been successful before long-term how was I going to be able to do it now. If I had slowly been losing since this whole process started last July when I had my first consult I would weigh less now as I know wls is just a tool and not a magical solution. I talked about my fears, ordered a bariatric cookbook and got on here to read to see if anyone eles was going through something similar. I didn’t find anyone who wrote word for word what I was feeling but I read supportive things, really just what I needed to read, to think that yeah ok I got this. My daughter said that she’d be worried if I felt invincible beforehand because acknowledging my shortcomings beforehand seemed more healthy. It helps not to keep things bottled up because that’s when the fears snowball for me. I had my doctor phone appointment last Thursday. I forgot to ask how long they recommend being off work. I was readying myself to have to do a 2 week liquid diet but doc said it wasn’t necessary, just for me to lose as much weight before surgery as I could. Which lead to me thinking about how I hadn’t lost anything really during these months of pre-op. and self-doubts. I appreciate all y’all writing about everything. The good bad and ugly. The overwhelming sentiment seems to be: why didn’t I do this earlier. That’s where I want to be. Now, working on tapering off of caffeine! Thanks for being my buddies.

Pre-op dinners. I’m having roast chicken and fish. Veg. Small salad. I feel like I’m coming to terms as well

    May 2022 surgery?

I’m 11 days out from my Bypass! Woot woot!
  9. It sounds lovely. Soothing self care. How was the hibiclens? Does it smell ok? Do you get it from the drugstore? I’m 2 weeks away. And, yes, I’m going to have a mini home spa the day before. Distract myself from the clear liquids!

    This is a wonderful thread!

    Need to vent

You’ve summed it up very well. It’s so frustrating! My coordinator dropped the ball after my pre-op bloodwork so I had to do them again because too much time had passed. If only I had had gone opera on them instead of waiting quietly. You managed very well getting all your ducks in a row.

    You are all my buddies

@GradyCat @possum220 @ toggletrue thank you for the support and encouragement. I get so much out of this app. I appreciate sharing their journey. I found out from my doctor’s office that I may need to be out from work for 2-3 weeks. My boss said that I could work from home.

    May 2022 surgery?

I finally have a surgery date! May 16th!
  21. I have my pre-op procedures of upper GI and chest X-ray on Tuesday morning and my pre-op primary care physician appointment for clearance on Tuesday afternoon. I’m getting closer! After I had finished my nutritional class requirements at the first of January I thought surgery was imminent as we were told in the doctor talk that we were about a month away. But as I’ve read on here, enjoy the journey. Don’t rush. Be patient. Be gentle. I haven’t been very patient which is very evident by how little I chewed my food! I’ve been working on that. I’m turning 60 this week! I am excited that this milestone and my wls are close together. I feel ready for some good changes. My bmi is 44. I think at my highest weight it was 46. I feel so roly-poly. I want to kick my type 2 diabetes to the curb. I want to be able to be more active without the constant pain in my arthritic knees and ankles. I want to keep up with my two little granddaughters. I want to fit into seats! I am very glad to find this app/support group. My doc said that they had one on Facebook but I’ve given up that so I was glad to find this better alternative.

    Nerves!

I just saw the results of my pre-op bloodwork from the lab and I’m nervous that the doctor will say no surgery date for you. My triglycerides were in the high range, blood glucose was 161, a1c was 8.0, and there were a few other things in the red as well. Has anyone experienced this? I don’t have my sidebar filled out as I’m on the mobile app. The pre-op bloodwork is the last step, they tell me, before getting a surgery date.

    Milestones!

My Upper GI, Chest XRay, and clearance with Primary Doctor on Tuesday went well. The Upper GI wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. The Pre-op coordinator called today and said she was passing me now to the schedulers and warned that they were slammed and scheduling now for April and May. I told her I was being a patient patient and going with the flow. She emailed some lab work that I will have done at the end of next week. It’s good to have this over and done and now waiting for the ducks to get into a row. Now I’m focusing on the daily goals of watching my blood glucose numbers, closing my Apple Watch activity rings, and getting good sleep.
