    Prostatitis! Yeah...I said it!

After researching this condition for several months, I think you share the prognosis of most urologists. And you are right again on the baggy shorts. I have found if I wore baggy clothing for about a week, it also relieves my symptoms as well.
  7. I have to say that after 5 different protien shakes I had become sick of them as well, so I cheated a little for about 2 days. I skipped the shakes and ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese intead. It did not have as much protien as a shake but still had almost just as much. I am back on the shakes though.

    Hernia discovered during surgery!

I had a HH also that was fixed during surgery. Even though I had never been diagnosed with it I had been on prilosec for over 10 years for GERD. After reading about HH on this forum before surgery I suspected I had gotten a HH during my military years doing all those sit ups and crunches, which is also when my GERD symptoms started. Needless to say, the doctor told me after surgery that he did fix a large HH and that it should make a big difference in my quality of life. Every year I use to have episodes where I would get food or stomach acid going down my windpipe, which would cause mild cases of pnumonia. Not fun. I hope I averted any long term damage. Anyway, the Dr. said no more prilosec needed after surgery. He was right. I haven't had to take any since and haven't had any symptoms. Saving 30 bucks a month on prilosec will be worth fixing the HH alone. As you said, pretty common problem that nobody really knows about.
  10. Hey guys and gals, Banded 08/04 and I have a few questions for you all banded around the same time. How many of you still have steristrips on their incisions? Have they fallen off, curled up, turned brown and ugly? I still have mine on and they have started to curl up around the edges but are still adhered to the incisions so I have left them on. I anticipate they will begin to fall off anyday now. I am ready for them to fall off so I can get a better look at my incisions.
  11. Hiya 2much! Doing great here. I will be returning to work on Monday. Just started walking 2 miles a day yesterday with a little jogging. not too much. Strting to get hungry, though. Tired of protein shakes. I suppose this can be considered Band hell, but it's not as bad as I thought. I well get over it mentally. I am glad your'e doing good. I am looking forward to following your blog.

i've got an idea. Let's make a pact to cook our families a good meal on Sunday to show our love for their support. You tell me what you are gonna eat, and I will eat the same on that day. Think about it and let me know.

    God bless.

  13. I just got banded on 08/04/09. Before this I had been diagnosed with prostatitis. I had been under my urologists care for nearly 6 months prior to LB surgery. Those of us men who have had this menacing condition can probably relate when I say that over the past 6 months since being diagnosed I have lost an enormous amount of sleep, having to get up several times a night to empty my bladder. I had tried 3 different types of antibiotics and several different other meds to relieve the symptoms but none of them ever really cured the condition. I was told upfront by my urologist that even though this condition is common, it is difficult to diagnose and even more difficult to treat successfully. He stated that 33% of his patients will be cured and never experience symptoms again. 33% of his patients will have recurrences about 4-6 more times in there lifetime. And 33% of his patients will not be able to find any successful treatment for this condition. Needless to say that after 6 months of trying different treatments, I figured I was one of the lucky ones to fall into the bottom 33% of his patients. I was looking into alternative care by then. Throughout this time I had also been going through my pre-op appts for LB surgery. I stopped all antibiotics and other prescribed meds for prostatitis 2 weeks before LB surgery, and during those 2 weeks my prostatis did get worse by the day. I have a LB surgeon who did not require a preop diet so I did not go on any type of diet until the day of surgery which is when I started my clear liquid diet. To make a long story short, suprisingly enough, 3 days post op, still on liquid diet, I show no symptoms of prostatitis. Since 3 days on the liquid diet I have gone to the bathroom when I when I go to sleep and have not had to get up to use the bathroom at all until morning. Maybe this condition was caused by my diet this whole time. I am not a Dr. and I don't know if I am cured for the long haul, but for now I am just happy to feel a bit more normal.
  14. Now 5 days post-op and still sore but feeling as though my body is healing better each day. Yesterday there was about a 6 hour period where I was just zapped of all my energy and was real sleepy but it passed. I did get cravings yesterday as well but I was not hungry(odd feeling). That passed as well. Today I get to move to 'mushies' and am looking forward to it although I can't say I am starving for it yet. 1/4 cup of cream of wheat for breakfast and 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes for dinner is my goal for today. I hope it will go down ok. My wounds still have some tape thingies on them which I guess are steristrips and they are looking fine except they are starting to itch a little. Does anybody else banded around the 4th have these? do they itch you yet. I wonder how long it will take for these to fall off by themselves. Those of you who do have them, do you still keep bandages on them or are yours just exposed?
  15. Also banded on 08/04. 36 hours post op and it's getting better by the hour. Hang in there. What's your diet plan for the day?:wink2:
