  1. JWRN, It is hard to say congrats on gaining but in this case it works. I think I would put some weights in my pockets to, just in case....GOOD LUCK:thumbup:

Cobrien, how exciting to have your date. When, not if, mine is approved I am hoping to have it done in October. Thanks for the info on the fills. I will pass that on th the surgeons office staff. As for the preop diet at least you can eat veggies, not only drinking. I don't know what my surgeon does for pre-op.

    Maggie:shades_smile:

  2. Has anyone heard anything from Tricare about being approved or denied?? :scared2:My count down has started and it is nerve wracking. Cobrien, have you been scheduled for surgery yet? Maggie:wink_smile:

  3. All you 50+s are doing great. Can't wait to join you on the losing side. I have an upper GI next Tuesday and then the surgeon will put on for approval thru Tricare. I do have sleep apnea so hopefully that will help it get approved. Did you guys have much pain after the surgery? Sounds like us baby boomers are working the band the way it was meant to be.

    Keep on losing. Maggie:wink_smile:

  4. Congratulations on your approval. Hopefully I will know by the end of next week if mine will be approved. The surgeon is sending everything in after my upper gi next Tuesday. Maggie:wink_smile:

  5. aculberg, I don't know yet if I will have any kind of preop diet. I guess I should wait to see if I'm approved to worry about that. The closer it gets to being submitted to Tricare the more I worry about it. Maggie:cool2:

  6. Karina, Sounds like you need to gain a few more pounds to be where Tricare will approve you. That is a sad situation because that is what everybody would do, so they should give it to everybody that is that close. At my group meeting yesterday a woman there said she had a friend that gained 60 pounds on purpose so her insurance would pay for her to be banded. Now that is SICK....... But if you are within 10, you should be approved. I have an upper gi appt. on Sept. 2nd. then the surgeon will submit to Tricare for approval. I am very nervous about being turned down because Tricare has paid out so much on me in the last year. Broke the top of my humerous in July 07, and have had 4 surgeries and it is still not healed. With the surgery I had on August 5th. being a bone graft. Today I was given a bone stimulator (ultra sound) unit that Tricare paid 3,000. for. It is mine to keep because they do not use them on more than one patient. But with that being said in all the years we have been covered by them we haven't used it much.

Have a good weekend everybody. Maggie:smile:

  7. aculberg, thanks for the info. Hopefully I will be having my surgery a week or so after yours. Going to Disneyland the middle of Sept, so not possible then. Does your surgeon require a preop diet? Maggie:cool2:

  8. I had my appt. with the surgeon today for the group meeting and then my appt. by myself. I only have one more test to be done and then they are going to submit to Tricare for APPROVAL. He said if approved I should be able to be banded by the first of October. I am just going to think positive thoughts. Does anyone know if Tricare requires a six month recorded diet before approval. I don't think they do, just wondering. Good luck to everyone.

Karina, How are things going with you. Keep trying you will prevail.

  9. Hi all you beautiful people, Just think we have learned true compassion for our fellow men/women because we were chosen to have a weight problem as our cross to bear. It has taught us that everybody is not perfect, our problem is visible for everybody to see, but other people have problems that we can't see so it makes them feel better about themselves when they put us down. Knock us down, and we won't be around them long enough to discover their hidden problems. Let's just keep our heads up and be proud of our decision to help ourselves. Maggie:thumbup::thumbup:

  10. Karina, are they still saying they don't have all the necessary paperwork? I would appeall as soon as possible. It sounds like Tricare is starting to deny a lot of people. Wish me luck tomorrow. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way so I hope I get some good news, but the way it sounds on here I may need more than luck. Karina, keep trying, you will get it in the end.

  11. Hi RestlessMonkey, Congrats on your approval. What can you do for a fatty liver to get it ready for surgery? Also, how does Tricare Standard work? Doesn't it cost more yearly and how about the deductibes? Any info would be greatly appreciated...Maggie:confused2:

  12. Karina, was today a better day for you? I am starting to get very nervous about Thursday and my appt. with the surgeon. Will he except me and help me get Tricare to approve it???????? We need everybody on this thread to get approved so we can go thru this together. Good luck to us all. Maggie:thumbup::tongue2::)

  13. thingirl, good luck in journey to being banded. Some go real fast and others drag on. Hopefully the surgeon will send in the request for approval this Thursday and I will be able to have it before much longer. Keep us informed how it goes for you. Maggie:cool2:

  14. Hi Roustabout, Congrats on your band. How did the surgery go, much pain? I will see the surgeon this coming Thursday and hopefully get an approval soon after. I was going to have the gastric bypass and changed to the band because less complications with it. Hows the weight loss going? Have a good weekend, Maggie:cool2:

  15. Waiting is not easy, but maybe he has a point. Thursday is my day with the surgeon, then everything should be sent to Tricare for approval. This is so stressful. Let me know when you hear something. Maggie:thumbup:

  16. I am so sorry you are going thru this. To leave you right after you have surgery is a thoughtless thing to do. You are better off without him if he has been sleeping with someone else. Just think of your beautiful future as the thin healthy person you are going to be soon. You will meet someone worthy of you who will be faithful & loving. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Keep your head up and look to the good times ahead.

    Maggie:wink2:

  17. I think talking to her face to face would help. It seems she would know how much this means to you and it only takes a minute to fax the info to Tricare. If you are face to face with you it will harder for her to make excuses why she can't do it, and if she does, offer to take it to Kinkos or somewhere yourself to fax it. Hope you get good news today.
