  1. have you been taking any supplements? It can be an issue with the liver, kidneys ect... But that is the whole point of these test. To find out this information and act on it. So more than likely if the levels are beyond what they think is good they will order more testing. I had a similar issue with the EKG pre op. It showed issues and they told me i had to go see a cardiologist before i could have the surgery and get cleared. If your surgeon appointment is far away then maybe you can see your primary care doctor and see what they say. Or even online there are telehealth doctors that do appointments for like 40 bucks and you can send them your results and they can give you their opinion on it as well. I did that once 2 years ago with a internet telehealth doc and they faxed me an MRI order which was quick and easy. Good luck!

I'm 30 year old frmale with PCOS. Mh surgery was March 1st 2022 so by Dec 1st this year I was I was 9 months post op and I've only lost about 35lbs. I try to stick my diet, I've been working out about 3 to 5 times every week since I was 5 and half months post. It's December and I was taking imventory of my year and I'm just gutted.

Sent from my SM-N970U using BariatricPal mobile app

fill out your profile if you can. what was your starting weight, surgery weight... height. what surgery did you get? How is your eating? what does a normal day of food look like?

  3. I smoke almost everyday a joint. I got my medical card here in Florida. So edibles hit different now. So i would go low and slow with that. But no issues with using MJ. Yes they cause the munchies. So i try to keep some good Snacks to help with those cravings. my local gas station has a lot of Protein snacks now especially chips so i grab those, some Quest protein Peanut Butter cups, slim jims stuff like that. and i get full very quickly so 2 slim jims and i am full. i stayed off the MJ for the first 2 months after surgery. I wanted to make sure i was good on regular solid foods without issue.

  4. Its up to your surgeon. Mine specifically said not to give up caffeine during this time because of how rough it can be on the liquid diet that they dont want to cause more stress lol. but they did say no sugar, and for Creamers to use sugar free creamers only. for sugar i used TRUVIA which is what i still use everyday now post op. But yes using Protein Shakes for creamers is a great way to get in that Protein and coffee at the same time. My nutritionist highly recommended that.

  5. on an unrelated note. Where i work we sell cold hard boiled eggs and two days ago i had someone put them in the microwave i guess to warm them up. The moment he took them out both eggs exploded in spectacular fashion right in his face. Eggs everywhere from the floor to the ceiling. He was in shock like "What just happened" i was like "Dude... you dont put boiled eggs in a microwave"... lol

  6. if you had GERD before. I am unsure why a surgeon would allow you to go thru sleeve and the sleeve can make that worse. getting a endoscope may be a good thing to get done that can see the acid and how your esophagus is. But those with GERD/heartburn tend to get better with bypass. That is why most that get the sleeve end up getting a revision to bypass because of GERD issues.

I had hundreds of gallstones, but they never showed on ultrasound. A CT scan showed them, but the doctor told me to trust the ultrasound. Several years and much pain later, they finally took out my gallbladder. Hopefully they will find your problem quickly.

very interesting. I doubt they will order a CT Scan but that is easily fixed. I can buy a lab order online for 40 bucks. Did it last year for an MRI for my chest lol.

  9. i mean you can see all the people here that post that weight loss surgery does work if you stick to the plan. you can drink later on once you healed up... Most say weight a year but of course you dont have to but it will help your weight loss if you do. also alcohol will be a bit different than before where just a drink or two can get you pretty buzzed. remember beer has lots of carbs in it. carbs are something we want to keep to a minimum. (Low carb beers maybe)

  10. So surgeon called saying my ultrasound came back good. No issues other than a small note that my spleen is borderline oversized. But other than that its all good. Next up they are ordering a HIDA scan. basically they inject you with this radioactive stuff that your liver filters out and into your gall bladder, Then they see it on a Gamma Camera. Then they inject you with a synthetic hormone to simulate you eating a very fatty meal to get your gall bladder to empty itself so they can see that process on the gamma camera. Shall see how that goes.

I’m in Texas. Thank you for you help.

typically in Texas any marketplace plan will not cover any kind of bariatric surgery. SO its a lot of the southern states that do not cover it due to the fact that the majority of people there are overweight and eat poorly. (Which is what one insurance agent told me) So the only way to get it covered would be to move to a state that does cover it, get your surgery and move back. I thought about that if i ever needed a revision because here in Florida its also excluded. I paid cash for my surgery

  12. yup stay off the scale... you will stop loosing weight for a bit throughout the journey. They are called stalls. typically at your 3rd week is where you hit your first one where you probably wont loose any weight for a couple weeks. Just stick to the program and it will come off

  13. It depends on the state you live in... There are many states where bariatric surgery is specifically excluded. regardless of what plan or company you go with on the marketplace.

Then there are states where they do cover it. Your profile does not have any info so idk what state you are in.

  14. So i had my ultrasound today due to a elevated bilirubin levels. Ultrasound came back good. No stones, nothing at all. So i am guessing next up i will have something called a HIDA scan which they inject me with this radioactive stuff and watch it flow with the gamma cameras. That will be fun... NOT lol.
