  1. For those of you who get tighter around/during TOM when do you start feeling the affects? I just got a fill of 1cc almost one week ago and have recently(this am & yesterday) been waking in the morning coughing. So I am wondering if my fill is too tight this time around or if this is related to my TOM being just around the corner in about 2 or 3 days. Just wondering if anyone keeps track of when you tighten up before TOM.

    Anniversary Challenge

Here are my goals: Memorial day- 7 pounds July 4th -15 pounds August 14th- 15 pounds If I can reach each of these goals I will have met my overall goal for the year... Good luck to everyone! It's time for me to get movin!!!
  4. I have not had continous kidney stones, but I have had two bouts with the misserable lil monsters. I have begun taking vitamin C as per the instructions of my Primary Care Provider. My PCP did also ask if I was taking in alot of calcium, my stones were calcium. I was not taking in much more calcium then my prenatal vitamin. When I talked with my Surgeon about the kidney stones he indicated that kidney stones are not all that unusual after lapbanding, but didn't indicate that was the cause. I have upped my water intake, especially when I workout and that seems to be helping. Keeping up with drinking water can be difficult somedays. I hope you can find some answers. Do you know what type of stones you have?
  5. I didn't get a chance to post, but I did reach my goal -2pounds. I am down to 188 and goal was 190!!!

    Negotiating the cost of lapband

Where are you from? The cost of lapband in Colorado is around $9900 for self pay. Just a thought!
  7. If you are anywhere near Colorado you can get banded for a little less than $10,000. I have insurance, so I didn't have to pay cash, but I could send you some links to places here in Colorado that are under the $10,000. My doctor is $9900 for self pay and I will say I am very pleased. Again, like others have said the aftercare is important, I am 6 months out and have had to travel 5x to see my Doctor. I am feeling that I am at my "Sweet Spot" now so I probably won't have to follow up again for a couple of months. Just let me know if you would like me to pass along those links.
  8. Thanks so much for talking with Dr. Smith. I went for my 5th fill in Denver last Friday, so I will follow up with Dr. Smith when it is time for my next fill. How are you doing, with your last fill?

  9. Current weight: 208 Goal for challenge: 190 I didn't quite make my goal for Valentines so here is hoping the Easter Challenge goes better. I am a slow loser as well.
  10. Good job!!! I am down only about 40 pounds, it is coming off slow... but at least it is coming off.

    froggin for banding!

How exciting for you!!! I was banded by Dr. Brown's partner Dr. Metz and my experience was similar everything went so fast. I live in the San Luis Valley which is about 4.5 hours south of Denver very near the New Mexico border so you are luck that you are fairly close to Dr. Brown's Office. Keep me posted on how things go and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
  14. My goal is 15 pounds. That would put me in onederland. I haven't been there for a while as well. Good luck to everyone with their Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge/goals.

    Headache after eating?

I am feeling the same thing every time I eat as well. Did anyone talk to their Doctor about this? My headaches last for about an hour after eating as well. The "head freeze" headache describes it exactly. Did anyone have to get an unfil?

Trick or Treat!!! I think the Trick has been on me.

Here it is almost 3 months out and I haven't lost any weight since coming home from the surgery... So today I sit and wonder if the trick isn't really on me.:mad2: I have been walking and trying to watch what I eat and have been concentrationg on how I chew and make sure to never drink during meals. It is very frustrating to not see the scale move and not have any NSV. The worst part of it all is when people ask how much weight I have lost. I go in for my 3rd fill on 11/7/08 and I am hoping to feel some restriction. I really would be happy with at least loosing 1 pound a week. I guess I should be happy about not gaining, but I can't help but being frustrated. My first fill was on 9/12/08 for 3.4cc's( I have a 10 cc standard band), my 2nd fill was 2cc's for a total of 5.4cc's. I am trying to stay positive as the nurse stated that most people start to really see results with 6-8cc's. I hope I am almost there!!! I hope this is the last Halloween I have to feel like a stuffed pumpkin. Happy Halloween to All!

    Newbie from Denver

HI! I had surgery at CBSI on August 14, 2008 with Dr. Metz. I have been very happy with things there so far. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck to you beginning this journey.
  20. I am excited for you. I remember that feeling... Don't get too nervous. The hardest part is waiting.. time seemed to drag on forever. Will you stay overnight? Take things slow after surgery!!! Walk, Walk, Walk when you feel up to it. GOOD LUCK! Let me know if I can be of any help. I was banded on 8/14/08.
  21. HI! Let us know how you are doing!!! I hope all goes well for you.

    Wanna Be Looking For Advice

I was banded by Dr. Matthew Metz with Colorado Bariatric Surgery institute. I went in for my initial appt, preop, nutrition and Social Work on July 17th and was able to schedule surgery that day for August 14th. My insurance approved the procedure within 5 days(2 of those days were the weekend) My procedure was scheduled for 11:30am and I was released by 4pm that day. Everything has gone well so far. I had my first fill on Sept 12th and will be getting my 2nd on October 16th. I am hoping this 2nd fill gives me some much needed restriction.

    Any New Mexico Banders?

HI! I live in very southern Colorado, about 10 miles from the New Mexico border. I was banded by Dr. Matthew Metz with Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute in Denver. They do take insurance. I have BC/BS and had to be banded by a doctor who performs surgery at a "Center of Excellence", my surgery was performed at Presbyterian/St. Lukes which is a "Center of Excellence". I have been very pleased so far. I am schedule for my 2nd fill on October 16th. Good luck with your search.
  24. How are things going for you? Is this journey as tough as you thought it would be. Things are going well, can't wait till my 2nd fill so I can hopefully feel some more restriction. Take care... Sorry it took me so long to respond. I didn't know how these messages worked.

  25. I have been doing well. Went for my first fill on Sept 12th. It went well they had a hard time finding my port. I will be scheduling my 2nd fill for around Oct 24 or so. How was your recovery? Let me know how your 1st fill goes. Take care!
