  1. You should call your insurance company and get clarification on what the requirements are. My insurance was 35 with at least one co-morbidity (I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in my pre op sleep study) or over 40 w/o any co-morbidities. At time of surgery my BMI was 41. A agree with a previous poster...check your height. I had always been 5-'5'" but turns out I was 5'-3.5". Since everything was virtual until time of surgery I just rounded down to 5'-3".

I've attempted to reply to this in so many ways but I'd be banned. Have the day you deserve.

I think you took Arabesque the wrong way. It didn't seem to me that she was trying to take away from your accomplishment (she actually said "congrats on hitting your target"). It looked like to me that she was just trying to provide some facts about the origin of the 10,000 steps that Fitbit has engrained in all of us. Getting in 10,000 two weeks after surgery is a GREAT accomplishment and that you did it twice in one week is even better! I am just shy of 3 mos and my goal is 8000 per day. Most days I get it but sometimes I don't. Good luck with your recovery!

  3. Yes... I think also that you actually have to do all the work propelling your body where with a treadmill the "ground" moves under you. I just had my sons plant some plants for me on mother's day so the rain is good for that.

  4. yucky day here...I'm in Southern Maryland just below Annapolis so you have yucky weather as well. I will have to time my walk today between rain showers or go to the gym but I find I burn more calories when walking outside instead of on a treadmill.

I started at 213 lbs 5’1”. I was on pre liquid for 5 days and lost 12 lbs. I had gastric bypass on 4/18 . I lost another 9 lbs first week. Since then I have been at 192 lbs. I am frustrated too about stalling weight loss after 1 week. I have read if you are diabetic it’s harder to lose weight. Is this true? I am diabetic and my sugar has been going back up steadily. My endocrinologist increased my insulin to 20 units of lantus. Am I going to lose weight? Has this happened to anyone else? I also had to go to ER couple days ago due to impacted bowel. I didn’t poo 11 days then poo then another 7 days no poo. I went to see my endocrinologist and pcp yesterday. They are puzzled why I am not losing weight either. I drink 3 bottles of Water and about 70+ Protein per day. Please help!!!

Are you taking anything to help with Constipation? I take Miralax and regular Colace daily. My surgeon said this was ok to do so. I had 2 bouts of constipation. Both happened when I didn't take my Miralax for two days in a row. I go #2 daily when I don't mess up with my regime.

That is so great. I remember a few months ago when I celebrated being OVERWEIGHT. It sounds a little insane for the normal person but we know what that all means. I am striving to become normal weight but the last 20 pounds are going to be a struggle. I imagine the last 20 will be harder than the first 100. Keep it up.

The funny things we celebrate! You keep up the good work too!

Congratulations, surgical twin! My weight is coming off slower than yours, but I'll get there eventually -- and meanwhile I'm thrilled for you.

Thanks! You are just about right there with me in weight loss. Can't wait to hear you are JUST Obese as well!

  8. I can eat about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food at a time (I am 9 weeks post op). No I cannot physically feel like anything has been done to me. Currently, I am trying to avoid processed carbs, foods with high sodium content, and high fat foods unless it good fat like an avocado. I don't eat any bread except a extremely tiny piece (about two bites) of good sourdough bread at a nice Sunday dinner. I focus on getting my Protein in first and then eating veggies. Most of the time I cannot eat many if any veggies. Snacks are a yogurt or light string cheese with some almonds or fruit. The recovery was more painful than I had thought it would be but by day 10 or so I was almost normal. I did have a large hiatal hernia that was repaired so that is probably why my recovery took a little longer and was more painful.

  9. Thank you @Tony B - NJ @ShoppGirl @lizonaplane @FutureSylph and @acopas! My calories range from about 650-950. The higher days are where I made some poorer choices for Snacks like pretzel thins and regular fat cheese. I think I will aim for about 750. I do get in all my Protein and all my Water. @FutureSylph we are literally surgery twins...same surgery date and type, same height, just about same starting weight.
