    Smoking pot post-rny

Oh I love that! Same with me I was raw vegan the past year and loosing a feeling great I even became a cherries vegan nutritionist then my mother had a bunch of health problems and starting in June of this year I was back and forth to Missouri to help her. I got Covid late July - even though I was vaccinated and ended in pneumonia. My goal in January was loose my weight by the end of the year or get the sleeve. Life happened and kicked my butt this year so 3 months ago I called a bariatric surgeon and I got in this Weds for the sleeve. But I get the focusing on the mind I feel being a raw vegan put me vibrationally and spiritually in a different vibration and I have been working with a therapist to work through my eating disorders and issues with my mother. I feel this step is the next step but you are so right it is so important to focus on getting your mind in the right place. Sounds to me like you are really heading in the right direction! Next year is going to be such an amazing year! I can’t wait and am really looking forward to the next phase in my journey!!!

Ahhh I see lol sorry I thought you stopped smoking and switched to vaping on your own I am happy you had the surgery and are alive to conquer the world now! I agree it is hard to give up everything at once and giving up cigarettes for me was terrible and I didn’t have e- cigarettes back then. I still dream of smoking so trust me I totally get what you are saying. I have given up coffee before surgery mainly because I’m terrified of acid reflux after surgery and I am hoping I can find some low acid coffee I like and add that back in. I have a sister who is in AA and they had her just focus on stopping drinking and worry about her cigarette addiction later. They said in rehab that her stopping everything at once set her up for failure and so I completely understand where you are coming from. I really admire you and all the people that are so determined if their insurance doesn’t cover it they pay out of pocket. I think that is the first step to success right there! I am lucky and my insurance is covering it but hats off for sure to you
  3. Weird question - I am getting the sleeve on the 22nd and I have Invisalign braces. They have little pegs they attach to the teeth to hold them on. I’ll be done next week and I want my orthodontist to take them out today - he is telling me I don’t need to for my surgery. I don’t really care and just am done with them and it’s only one week early. Anyone else have these before surgery? Did they make you remove the pegs? I have a call into my surgeon just curious if anyone else had this experience thanks!

I don’t think e-cigarettes are “bad” for you maybe I am wrong. I don’t use them but I was a regular cigarette smoker in my teens but quit at 19 and never looked back. I have read some really good health benefits from Nicotine and I will use Glas vape once in awhile it helps with my anxiety a lot and it may be something I use more often to help then turning to food. I haven’t used anything in over 6 months but I personally don’t think vaping is bad. Like I said I may be proved wrong but I think it’s a much healthier alternative to real cigarettes for sure!

I am allergic to all Pain meds. I had cervical surgery and a knee replacement with just Tylenol- it was hell. I now have a medical marijuana card in my state - I only do it for pain so honestly not often except in cold for arthritis. I spoke to my surgeon about it as well as my pain Dr and they both said it is fine. They have some THC with CBD pain Patches at my pharmacy I am going to get those for the hospital they last 12 hours. I smoke either carts or through a Divinchi 2 - but again only when I have arthritis pain Tylenol won’t help. My sister had bypass 25 years ago and she is the one who talked me into getting my medical card. She lives in California so she’s used it for pain for years - she is fine. Marijuana doesn’t gender healing from what I have researched.
  6. Same here. Great YouTube videos out there thank goodness it really has helped me out
  7. I cheated on some chicken and I have had some creamy soup. But the past few days I have stuck to the liquid. We are almost there!
  8. On week 5 of liquid diet - thank goodness surgery is the 22nd because I am having such a hard time the past week sticking to this liquid diet and I have cheated a few times. I am starving still - have been the entire 5 weeks. My stomach is constantly growling and everyone in my family can hear it all day and all night. I am so excited to get this done and not feeling the hunger pains anymore lol I can’t wait to see us all start loosing the weight and being healthy!
  9. 13 days until surgery and my husband comes home sick last night he says it is just allergies from moving hay for our horses I was going to sleep in the couch but he assured me it was allergies. He just sent me a text he is really sick - he had Covid end of July I am hoping it isn’t that again he says cold either way I get sick I can’t get the surgery and I’ve been in liquid for over 2 weeks now I am beyond upset and frustrated today

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

I didn’t hit menopause until this year and I am 52!
  11. I went vegan - raw vegan - this year and lost a great amount of weight but wanted to be as full of vitamins and nutrition as possible before surgery. I think I might get some spinach and berries and do a green smoothie. My labs look great - just saw my endocrinologist Monday. My BS is 112 - I was awitched off all my meds to just metformjn and sugars have gone up but very slightly. She said my body is responding so well to the liquid diet that she is stopping all meds before surgery and doesn’t think I’ll need them again after that. I follow up January 10th with her. I tried vegi broth and chicken broth which was terrible. Finally got some low sodium v8 juice that should help. 14 day count down to surgery now! I’ve made it this far I’ve got this!!! 😀
  12. You look amazing!!! And I think you look great at your weight! Great job and thank you for sharing!!! I’m having the sleeve didn’t even know if the mini until joining this forum.
  13. Are you drinking your fluids and staying hydrated? Sometimes hunger is actually dehydration. Good luck

    Tracking bowel movements

Love this app and this is funny
  15. Lady H this is terrible and I’d be so frustrated. I’m going in 15 days if I get cancelled I think I’ll just go back vegan and hit the gym. My insurance is approved too and I’ve met my deductible for the year I don’t want to be pushed out. I’m so sorry to hear this you are in my thoughts and prayers
  16. I have gone into a panic the last few days then I read an article that you can actually live without your stomach and people who have stomach cancer do. So then I wasn’t so scared - silly I know lol
  17. 15 more days of liquid before surgery. Been on this already more than that. I can’t wait to get real food. I have never been a sweets person and all these protein shakes are starting to get to me. I drank water all day and just stared at the the shakes like yes I know I have to drink you but I don’t wanna. How is everyone else doing with their preop liquid phase?!
  18. I don’t think I worded that correct I meant 4 pallets of the protein water from Amazon was $100
  19. I have been on for about 10 days my surgery is in the 22nd of December. My husbands work Christmas party is tonight - I have been faithful and have not cheated once. However, my husband told me he wants me to eat tonight I don’t embarrass him in front of all the guys he works with. So I am going to probably pick (hope it’s an option) soft food and try to push stuff around in my plate to make it look like I have eaten something. I don’t want to cheat because it took forever for me to stop starving on the liquid diet and it is to hard to start up again. I feel you but with surgery so close just be careful and stick to the liquids I too know people who were closed back up and didn’t get the surgery because they didn’t follow the liquid diet. I have 30 days liquid.
  20. How about the rotisserie chickens? I know you don’t cook but you can get a crock pot and put one of those in it with some chicken broth an veggies and have some Soup or eat the chicken itself I get one (and I love to cook) and I’ll slice it up and toss some fajita seasoning on it in a skillet with some onions and bells peppers my husband and kids love it on tortillas. Also in my grocery store I can get a roast with all the veggies cut up and I  just dump it in a crockpot I think if you don’t cook at all it will be hard to stay on track - at least for me it would be. Maybe try taking a free community cooking class - who knows you may find you love to cook! I buy from Costco if you don’t have one see if there is a Sam’s club they have a lot of good stuff too  Good luck!

    Developed Diabetes After Surgery

My sister had gastric bypass 25 years ago and she eats candy breads etc she is insulin dependent and has been about 23-24 years now. I was raw vegan for 6 months and lost 40 pounds before I decided to get the sleeve and I’m planning to go back vegan although probably cooked. I think since what you eat is limited I wouldn’t waste that space with breads because that would be to much carbs and raise anyones blood sugar I would think. Try to get in to your dietitian and an endocrinologist they both can help a ton
