    My experience… sleeved on 1/22/22

It is tough I had to cook meals every day for my husband and two sons while i was on liquid and soft stage it was so so hard i just had to keep reminding myself i didnt want to injury my surgery line in my tummy. My son had his birthday and they got cheesecake during that time I did taste it about a pinkie nail amount and got really really ill. I sont know if you can get your hands on crushed ice but if you get some crystal light and put it over crushed ice and chew on that ice it does help woth cravings and the need to chew something. I was on liquids for a month before surgery so for two months i was fixing yummy stuff for my family while i couldnt touch it. Good news is pretty soon it just stopped bothering me. It will get better just stay strong. I feel, my husband agrees, I’m more happy and mellow since surgery. Ill be 6 weeks out Tuesday.

My husband doesn't want me to have surgery

Hope all went well! My husband of 20 years, been together almost 21 years, was nit supportive of it at all but once he knew it was happening like it or not he became better. He stayed with me the entire time at the hospital and took a week off to take care of me. He isnt thrilled with the scars from the surgery but other than that he is beyond what i could have hoped for from him in support now. I like what Tek said, the strong relationships get stronger and i believe that ti be true. He is my best friend as well as my spouse and i feel we are stronger than we have ever been.
  5. Mine was against it but been super supportive since i got it
  6. My Nutritionist told me to get the cheese queso dip and mix a little with refried beans - OMG next level of goodness
  7. I was told not to eat any red meat until 6 months out. I miss vegis too I made myself a green smoothie today with baby spinach, baby kale, baby chard, apple, carrot, wild frozen blueberries, and so sugar free body armor tropical coconut - just 1/2 a bottle. Of course protein powder. I made enough i put some away for tomorrow. I feel like my brain doesnt work right since the surgery the past week im hoping this will help
  8. My mom is in assisted living but mentally she is great I stopped in to bring her some adult diapers the other day and I walked in her room - I had sunglasses on - she said Hi and I said Hi! She said can I help you with something? I lifted the box of diapers and showed them to her. She said Oh! Did my daughter drop those off for me? I said what?! She said why didn’t she come see me? She just dropped them off with you? I took off my glasses and said mom it’s me! OMG she said I didn’t recognize you! Well open the blind honey I want to see you in the light! I’m only 5 weeks out but back into a size 14 jeans and lost 32 pounds. It really made my day. I’ve seen her once right out of surgery but didn’t feel well enough to stay long. I felt like I wasn’t loosing really so it meant a lot to me for her to not recognize me at first it made me realize I am progressing
  9. Tuna and I tried eggs but ended up with welts all over with eggs. I had a slight egg allergy before VSG now I have a full blown allergy and Sr said don’t ever eat them again. So besides that and the puréed stage I had Panda Express teriyaki chicken but didn’t put the sauce on it just ate the grilled meat and omg it was heaven. The kids meal was perfect and my son was happy to extra chow mein and an extra drink and cookie lol

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

We have the same surgery date I got VSG how are you doing with weight loss still? I’ve been super careful and the loss is slow but I’m down 32 pounds only 70 more to go (only lol feels like forever in front of me still)
  12. I was the same way with water but I found after surgery if I made sure to have ice in my water it actually made my tummy feel better. I’ll be 6 weeks out this coming Tuesday and I can easily drink all my water. It took about 5-7 days to really feel like I was ok drinking more. Another trick I did in the liquid stage is get Gatorade sugar free and do 1/2 water 1/2 Gatorade. I also keep a glass of water in my nightstand if I wake up to put the dog out or use the restroom I drink it. Two YouTubers that helped me - My level 10 life - she has food preps etc and Fairytale Family - she has a few good videos not as much as the level 10 lady. Hope these help
  13. Water taste like it’s got sugar in it to me regardless what brand or home etc Jim getting used to it now
  14. We are surgery twins!!! My sleeve was 12/22! I am actually starting body for life diet I used to body build and used that meal plan and workout so I’m doing it again. It’s high protein low fat and carbs. I know I caught myself snacking small meals at first because I just couldn’t eat much and once I went to 6 small meals a day I broke the stall. It is hard to figure out food there are some really good YouTube videos out there that helped me
  15. How far out are you? I used to in my 20s body build I have arthritis pretty bad now all over. I have done the body for life before - it is workout with a good plan that is pretty much what we are to eat post op anyway. 6 small meals a day with high protein low carb and low fat. I still have my original book from the early 1990s that I’ve pulled out dusted off and have been reading again lol that was seriously my Bible back then. I have a torn shoulder that needs surgery but I am going to try to work the muscles around it to see if it will support it - I may just end up giving myself a migraine for a week idk but I am going to try. My arthritis has improved greatly since loosing the 30 pounds and eating so much better and cleaner now. Good luck and thanks for your update!!!
  16. From what I have read here regarding this and what my Dr said - no I do not smoke or vape but I have a medical marijuana card for my arthritis - he said that it slows healing and just isn’t healthy. He didn’t touch on my medical card he said that is between me and my pain management Dr. My Pain management Dr said that marijuana will help promote healing as it controls my pain. I honestly haven’t even done anything since post op because my arthritis has improved so much just loosing 30 pounds so far that it’s manageable. I have had to take Tylenol 3 times for pain but it worked. So not sure that helped you.

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

My Nutritionist told me I could eat a little mashed or baked but only a few times a week and not much. But sweet potatoes are a free for all I can eat them as often as I desire - within my calories and 6 meals a day of course lol
  18. This just hit me the past two days - sleeved 12/22/2021. I woke up 2 days ago at 3 AM and that was it I was done sleeping. I had slept 5 hours and I was energized. Then I couldn’t fall asleep last night until 3 AM which meant I was up 24 hours. My husband even asked if I drank coffee because that’s how much energy I had - for 24 hours straight! Nope just Water. So I woke up at 8 AM that put me at 5 hours sleep again. I was so full of energy I did 4 loads of laundry, dishes, mopped the floors, and I was remodeling and loaning my Master suite - bedroom, laundry room and bathroom, before surgery - I actually finished painting my bedroom today and walked over 3 miles! So here it is 10:30 PM im wide awake while everyone else sleeps. This is so weird I’ve always needed 10-12 hours of solid sleep since the day I was born not the past two nights! Crazy
  19. Today I am 5 weeks 1 day post op and I have to weigh and measure weekly as per my surgeon and nutritionist. Today is that day. I’m loosing 2-3 pounds a week and I’m 70 pounds from goal. I’m on regular food now except crackers raw veggies etc. I’m just bored and not interested in food. Here’s my stats - I’d love to hear how you Dec surgery buddies are doing! I get to start the gym on Sunday! I’m walking 3 miles a day around the house right now. So ready to go to the gym and see if I can start loosing more than 2-3 pounds a week!  SW 227 Current weight 195 Inches lost total 32 5’6” my height 52 YO Sleeved 12/22/2022 Stalled for 14 days 10- days post op

    Yuka App

There is a bariatric one that does the same and made for bariatric patients. I started using mine on the liquid stage and it counted down to surgery day now it counts out how many days since surgery and what I lost the month on liquids preop, what I’ve lost post op plus the combined loss it’s pretty awesome!
  21. I hit a stall at day 10 when I added purée foods I’m 4 weeks 2 days out my stall finally broke over the past weekend. It’s normal you’re lucky you made it that far out without a stall! Your doing great!
  22. My Nutritionist and my surgeon both told me I am to weigh and do measurements once a week and record them and take them to my appointments so I do that once a week not daily. Thanks!

    Low BMI pre op question

I think you are getting upset at people for just sharing and trying to help you out. Ultimately it is your body and your life. I was mandatory therapy by my surgeon before I had it so if you have a good Dr he/she should have you do that preop anyway. If not I would ask them for a referral or seek another Dr. You need a therapist who understands eating disorders and WLS. I hope the best for you! But be patient with people on here and don’t ask for advice and get angry at us. A lot of people have struggled with weight their entire life - I never did until 2018 when I was in an accident and after a few surgeries and a week in the hospital I was on a year of steroids. I went from 135 to 245 in a year and fought to get it down to 227 before I chose WLS. I’ve lost 30 pounds and am happy with that but frustrated I couldn’t do it myself. So when someone starts off at 300+ and sees you have a BMI under 30 it is frustrating to see you feel you need the surgery rather than do it on your own. I started with 35 BMI today my BMI is 31 - today after surgery on 12/22/2021 and 30 pound weight loss, you are lower than me - see my point? For the most part I feel people on here are very kind but also speak the truth 99% of the time. Again it’s your life and your body but don’t get so angry with all of us trying to help you. Good luck I’m leaving this post. It’s becoming a bit toxic for me I do wish you the best in whatever you choose

    Low BMI pre op question

Mexico will do anyone. I know a lady that needed 25 pounds off - as per her I thought she looked great - went to Mexico got it done. So yeah there’s Drs that do it regardless of your BMI or weight loss amount needed.
  25. Ok doesn’t look like anyones been here for a bit except me lol. I have a question - I’m down 30 pounds and 29.75 inches. Last week I finally broke a stall and went down 3 pounds. Weird thing is I actually should be down 37 inches but gained inches in my biceps and one thigh - weird I know I think it’s lump fluid because I had the lump nodes removed from that groin as a teenager. I’m 4 weeks one day out. Has anyone else had similar changes in inches? Loosing and regaining? I’m thinking my arms may be muscle because I have been doing some arm weight exercises just 2 pounds. TIA
