If you're on instagram, follow themacrobarista - he comes up with great low calorie/carb starbucks (and home coffee) concoctions. He always has the macros listed for those following macros. I've gotten several great order ideas from him!

I can't tell you how helpful it is to read this today. I am feeling the EXACT same way. My surgery is a month out, and I'm starting to panic. My rational brain tells me that some day I can enjoy food again (albeit is much smaller amounts), and I won't have to abstain from alcohol forever if I don't want to, but my neurotic brain is worrying about doing something irreversible to my body, and that I could end up going through this for nothing if I gain all the weight back. Glad to know I'm not alone, that this is normal, and that most people don't regret it in the long run.

I was sleeved yesterday! I could nearly stay awake all day. Gas pain wasn’t great although getting better. Incisional pain is a bit&@ though! Whenever I ask how long things will take to stop hurting I hear the “everyone’s journey is different ”thing, which doesn’t help!

My surgery was 3/18 and I am experiencing the same thing.
That particular incision send shooting pains when I go to sit/lay/squat. It is very difficult to wipe myself after I pee. It is extremely painful when I get out of bed too. I’m wearing a binder and they seems to have helped a little but wow...was not expecting it to hurt this much.

I’m on day 3 (of 10) of mine and I’m totally with you! I went for a walk with my friend and was in pain and exhausted after. I have a low level headache almost nonstop. I’m a little worried about functioning at work next week. And all I can think about is food- real food, not Jello and Protein shakes!

December 6th! Although worried about it getting postponed since COVID is surging here in the midwest. My pre-op diet starts on Thanksgiving, so I might be opting out of the family celebration - that's a huge test of willpower right off the bat!

    Post op Day 7
last night I had the gas pains up in my collar bone area, mostly felt upon inhalation while laying down. It was sharp and annoying.
today I am in a mood about having this.
    I. AM. CUSSING. HUNGRY.
not “head hunger”, eye roll, real legit, stomaching eating itself hungry. I want to eat anything and everything and annoyed that I can’t!
many times throughout the day I have thought “WTF did i do?” I chose this. I paid for this out of pocket.
I’m hoping this feeling is normal at this point and temporary.
i did normal household things today, without any trouble. I’m still guarding my belly button incision and careful not to lift anything over 10 pounds.
I felt tired a lot and spacey. But also totally normal at times.
I drank my Water, about 48 oz no problem.
no Protein Shakes or waters bc I just can’t.
I am changing my Vitamin because it’s so gross, so just to have SOMETHING I took a few of Flinstones Vitamins.
apparently I can’t take capsules for 30 days, which there went my plan For the barislims.
anyways. I just want to eat. Totally second guessing why I did this. I just feel stupid.

I’m three months post op and feel absolutely great now. You will feel so much better too after your body heals. Likely you will surprise yourself each day with another activity you couldn’t do before. Like doing a lunge in yoga or walking up the stairs without getting winded. Focus on your goals.

I kept in mind that during the actual surgery I was going to be asleep. I wasn’t in charge of doing the actual surgery. It’s silly but it calmed me down. All I had to do was go to sleep and wake up, and I did. I was still me and felt like me afterward too. You will too.

I also use a piece of jewelry as an anchor to remind myself to keep my focus on weight loss and self care. (WW idea) I have a ring. I couldn’t wear jewelry into the hospital but tapped my finger to remind myself of self care when I got scared. My old WW leader had a charm Bracelet from her MIL who had died from diabetes complications. I still use my ring to refocus after missteps like Halloween candy lol.

It is common to have doubts. Make a list of reasons/fears why you shouldn't take the leap, and another one of the reasons why you should.
I made these lists, the one with fears was mainly that, fear of the unknown, fear of complications, etc. This forum helped me tremendously to put a lot of those at rest.
Now, my list of why I should take a leap.. well that one was pages and pages long..
    So, I took the leap!

I'm being encouraged by my NUT to eat a more diverse array of foods, and she wants me to have carbs in there too if there's room. So I eat really tiny normal meals. Today for lunch I had 3 oz. of ground turkey cooked with a little Korean barbecue sauce; about a quarter cup of basmati rice; and five asparagus spears.

It is possible to eat "normally", just not as much, and not right away. And I'm still losing weight hand over fist.

Surgery scheduled for 12/6. Have to start my pre-op liquid diet on Thanksgiving. I guess I can sacrifice one holiday! Excited to finally move forward but sometimes reading some of these boards end up making me feel more nervous!
