  1. ...no more tests? No medical clearance? From what i read on the forum and every where else whats supposed to happen next is an Upper Gi or some abdominal x ray that shows that everything is ok for me to go ahead and be banded. Sketchy????
  2. I'm going into day 4 in my 12 day pre-op liquid diet and suprisingly with sushi being my all time favorite food i havent had it in a while and i know i am going to miss it once banded (feb. 4th). So i was wondering will it be ok to enjoy a lunch hr of sushi to immediately start back my liquid protein diet the next day? i can work out extremely hard if its what it takes to burn it off, though sushi is not usually high in calories. I mean it's just one day, or one hr. rather. What do you guys think? i havent really cheated. but i guess i have considering i had a handful of trial mix both yesterday and today. I dont want any suprises on the day of surgery?

I hope so, it feels like i been waiting my whole life...lol. how have you been doing with it?

  4. I love it all actually, and im worried that i wont be able to enjoy the sushi like i want to post-op like i would pre-op. I had no heads up, my date was set up approx. 2 weeks from me being approved. I love that it didnt take long but it bothers me that i was not able to enjoy a "last meal" like most. Nonetheless, i am ready, i am excited and i am detemrined...but if i were to have one last wish... lol. thanx everyone for your help.

  8. Let me start off by saying that i have done a large amount of research on Dr. Hadar Spivak and from what i hear i am sold. However, after seeing my PCP and talking about the lap band procedure he referred me to one of his good friends that he says is an awesome surgeon, Dr. Guillermo Ponce De Leon. I have heard very little about this guy but it doesnt necessarily mean he isnt extremely good at what he does. After telling My physician over and over about Spivak he kinda brushed it off and insisted that i go see Ponce De Leon. I am confused as to what i should do. Should i follow up with Spivak, a well known doctor in the houston area or should i go to who my Dr. recommended (someone he knows and confident in) considering that he might be a little more compliant and do everything in his power to get me approved with the insurance co. WHAT TO DO?
  9. OMG!!! i totally feel you. thats the question i have been asking all along. i feel its more of a way to keep you discouraged, to make you want to give up. I dont think they really care about the well being of their customers. Thats just my opinion and my experience. But dont give up if you ever thought about it. Make em' pay!!
  10. I can already see what kind of journey this is going to be. On top of the approval proccess itself being stressful and frustrating, I think i got one of those Physicians...you know those ones who refuse to believe that WLS should never be an option unless your on your death bed... Yea those are the ones, they really dont understand. So after seeing him he kind of pawns me off onto this bariatric doctor in the same facility that i have an appointment with today and reassures me that she is going to say the same thing. Uggghhh!!! So i will take in my weight watchers journals and everything else i can dig up and feed her the same life story i already fed my PCP. Lets see how this turns out. The 6 month diet required by bcbstx is looking like a real GO-er. Have any of you ever been in the same situation and have had success? hope seems as if its thousands of miles away.
  11. UPDATE: So i went to see the bariatric doctor today and when she became suddenly unavailable (btw what kind of practice is this... suddenly unavailable?) They scheduled me with another doctor, which i requested who just might be my new PCP. He seemed a little bit more concerned about situation than my previous PCP. He actually supported my decision and offered information and even referred me to a good friend of his who happens to be a bariatric surgeon. He also agreed to write a letter of medical neccesity as soon as my blood work comes in. Things happen for a reason and that couldnt have been more clear today. thanx for the encouragement guys.
