You will eat again, just alot less. You'll be full anyway, so you don't miss it . At least I don't.
  2. How much is it across the border? How much money are we talking about? I live in Florida, self-pay, but my insurance does not cover banding. I paid $15,000....they do have finance plans for those who don't want to head south.
  3. I had my first fill last Monday, I too was apprehensive. It's really no big deal. The only real crazy thing was to drink while the needle was still in me. He put the needle in, no pain at all. He injected 4 cc's and then I had to drink some water to see if it came up. JUST DON'T LOOK DOWN AT YOUR STOMACH! LOL That was the weird part knowing the needle is just hanging there.
  4. For us Americans, how much is 10K? lbs? I had my surgery Aug. 29th and I'm down 28 lbs. Have you limited your intake of fats and sugars? Are you drinking plenty of water? I had my first fill (4 cc's) last Monday, doing okay here.
  5. Sorry, can't help ya. My insurance did not cover it, so I paid for it. I figured...new car? or new life? You can see what I picked!!!
  6. Just remember this, it's only food, and you WILL be able to eat again. A friend had the surgery before me (Aug. 29th, ) and I had her mantra in my head. "You WILL be able to eat again." I'm down 30 lbs and going for my first fill next week. Soooo, chin up, it's only food! If your husband is eating Big Mac's in front of you, remove yourself from that situation. Clean house, walk outside, go shopping, do anything but sit and gawk at his Calorific Mc Donald's attack. It can't do ya any good. Best of luck, we've all been there one time or another.
  7. Hi ya from Florida, I was banded on Aug. 29th, I've lost close to 27 lbs. By day ten I was eating mushy egg salad, saltine crackers that melted in your mouth, applesauce with cottage cheese mixed in. And of course the SF pudding and SF jello. You'll be three weeks post op before you know it. Good luck!
  8. Loper , please call your dr. My instructions for home specifically state if you have shoulder pain or shortness of breath to contact him. You are in the middle of Hurricane Gustav, but I hope you can read this post. I was banded on Aug. 29th, and suffering with gas also. ugh! My dr. told me to continue taking Zantac, and I never was on it in the first place. So, I had to call him and now I take Pepcid complete. Does anyone else know of a different flavor than mint? It tastes nasty with jello. Also, why are you eating so soon? I'm on liquids for four days. CJ in Florida Dr. Webb's patient
  9. Hey everyone, I'm post op four days and doing okay. My doctor never put me on liquids during the pre op diet phase. I was on Atkins (meat, cheese, egg and veggies) for two weeks. Same thing, to shrink liver for laproscopic band placement. I never heard of just liquids before the operation until I read some posts here. I lost ten lbs, but he was able to do it. Band is on, I'm on strick liquid diet until wed, and I graduate to mashed potates, yogurt and pudding. Keep up the good work, we will all be so cute/ handsome when we are done. Healthy too! 10. My surgery date is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29th. Having throat issues and running tests before hand. I'm on Atkins diet, and sick of meat also. My nutritionist said I could have almonds, does that sound right to you guys? I'm a cash patient and would be real upset if I wake up without a band. DANG! CJ in Florida
