  1. It gets better trust me, in 12 months time how you are feeling now will be hard to remember. I felt like this and even worse at times but I am fine now. Focus on the improvements each . Once you are eating normal food you will feel even better.

Remember your hormones are out of whack now too so that won't be helping with your moods either. I actually started HRT Patches to help stabilise my moods, I was perimenopausal prior to surgery though.

Big hugs it does get better. My counsellor also said we go through a grieving process too which makes sense. I went through all of those emotions.

  2. Don't forget your hormones will be reeking havoc on your feelings and moods. I had a terrible time in my first few months post op. I spent 6 weeks curled up in a ball on my sisters couch. Cried multiple times a day for weeks thought I was going to die etc etc. it does get better and a lot easier every week

I had not had a period in almost 3 years. My gyno. had said I was in menopause. I had surgery Nov 8 and have had a period every month since. I was told the trauma the surgery causes your body makes the hormones to go crazy.

Glad I wasnt the only one

  4. Just curious why did you go off them (HRT) prior to surgery? I went on them about 3 months after surgery as I just wasn't coping with the effects surgery had on me and the constant anxiety, hot flushes etc it helped alot.i remember telling my Dr I can't do both but I'm wondering now if my reaction to surgery was hormone related.

  5. Ok, first surgery does not equal permanent weight loss it is a tool that assists you to lose weight.

Heartburn every now and then because of what you eat can be controlled by your diet and to have surgery to prevent that probably isn't necessary. My fear of getting the sleeve was reflux as I already was on meds for it but it has improved even with a sleeve. It gets niggley if I eat to much or the wrong foods and drinks.

I chose the sleeve because I didn't want to be taking Vitamins everyday as I never remember to take supplements and I just didn't want to have to.

The only time I made myself sick was after scoffing down a cinnamon scroll it was painful for hours and I vomited but that is the only time. But you don't forget you have had surgery, you might try to push the boundaries but you don't forget and most times your body will remind you . Possible dumping is something you need to be aware of too with a bypass.

If you are binge eating you would certainly benefit from some counselling and I certainly wouldn't go into surgery without it. Surgery gives some of us a huge wake up call on how much we relied on food for comfort etc which can lead to other issues with your mental health. It doesn't happen often but there have been a few posts where people have had surgery and just haven't coped mentally so you need to keep that in mind to.

Talk to your surgeon and his or her team I am sure they will give you the information and assistance you need prior to surgery

  6. So just wandering if this has happened to anyone else. I was well and truly on the way to menopause before surgery, I hadn't had a period for six months and hadn't had a "regular" cycle for over 12 months. The day after surgery I get a period ok that's fine but as I lost weight my periods start to become semi regular again ??? I am 56 and thinking they should have stopped by now. So just curious if this has happened to anyone else

  7. Sounds like emotional eating to me. I never realised how much I relied on food until after my surgery. I never classed myself as an emotional eater but boy oh boy was I wrong. Be kind to yourself do some inner searching, work out why you are stressed the answer is most likely pre surgery anxiety (very normal) and find other ways to soothe your nerves like coming here and reading posts 😄

I'm always surprised how little some of you people seem to eat. Like one of my meals is more than others are eating in a day??

    😕

Yeah, I stopped looking at this thread because I always feel like I am eating way too much seeing how little some people eat before feeling full. But then I compare what I eat to what other non-surgically enhanced people eat and i think ok I don't eat that much really

This isn’t a NSV, but everyone reading this thread HOPEFULLY can give me some insight. I am 18 months PO. I have lost 156 lbs. (total) BUT, WHY do I bite the inside of my mouth when I chew sometimes! Is it the weight lost in the face, sagging to allow me to ‘bite it easier’ now?

Me Too!! and my front teeth now "rub" on the inside of my bottom lip
