SleeverSk replied to jenny1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is hard at first but it does get easier, i just put up with that hunger feeling tried to distract myself it wasnt until i could drink more that the lightbulb moment hit and i put it together. I found 15 minutesbefore eating is ok as long as its a small drink. -

Hungry all the time
SleeverSk replied to jenny1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink more water/ fluids. I had this right from the start it an empty gnawing hungry even straight after i ate. I found drinking 15 minutes before a meal not a lot maybe a small glass and a small drink about 30 mins after helped. I also find if i havent drunk much during the day i get really hungry.....which is probably thirst -

How to tell close friends I'm getting WLS?
SleeverSk replied to Elsiegirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I lost weight, they would think that I took the easy way out. If I didn’t lose weight, they would think that I am a hopeless glutton, that even WLS wouldn’t work. this gave me a giggle only because its so true we cant win either way -
How to tell close friends I'm getting WLS?
SleeverSk replied to Elsiegirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
maybe just say to her that when you went to see about your "hernia" WLS was suggested and you are seriously thinking about/decided to do it. that way its doesn't looked like you have lied. I know I know some of you are going to say but that's covering up a lie, well yes it is but you are telling the truth about the surgery in the end. There is no way you are going to get away with "I Had a hernia repair" after the surgery. -
Anyone develop Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR or Silent Reflux) after Gastric Bypass?
SleeverSk replied to yesno789's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had this before surgery, I had a sleeve done. while I am still on medication (Nexium) it is under control for the most part. I get a burning in the top of my throat if I haven't eaten for awhile. but its not unbearable I am hoping it gets better as my surgeon said it would when I expressed my concerns before surgery.( the weight loss would reduce the pressure and there fore resolve the problem) however I haven't been game to test this yet and not take the Nexium. same advise try not to eat or drink an hour or so before bed my surgeon said 3 hours but that just isn't practical with my shift work. -
I Hope they find answers but from what you said it certainly sounds like your sliding hernia is the issue. hope they resolve it for you soon. sorry if I offended you with my suggestion as to what could be causing it only trying to help .sending best wishes. Happy Year New !!🎉

Who cares what they think and really its a bit rude if they do comment on the amount you eat I mean we don't say to normal/big eaters "oh gee you eat a lot" do we ? if they do comment just say you have a small tummy and you dont over eat to stretch it like they have done with theirs lol. 🤣.

Sometimes we dont feel stressed but are, but i was going ask about a hernia but thought because you were so fresh out of surgery surely they would have seen and fixed it. Maybe you have a sliding hernia? Another thing i was going to ask just because i did it myself today are you separating food and drink ? I didnt tonight and boy it feels awful like something stuck and waiting for it to go down. Just a thought,

I would eat it 😁

Hi Sherry, You need to get your family on board to support you. Explain to them how hard it is without their support. Its very easy to be tempted to eat food when its there. Could you possibly get your own fridge and cupboard space for your food so that you don't see the other food? You are still 22kg lighter than when you started so that is a good thing. being in lockdown would be hard we have been very lucky where I live. Could you start an indoor hobby like art and craft or reading/writing something that will keep your mind off food? also try an app that you can track your calorie in take. I use one called my fitness pal. its easy to use not sure if its available in different languages but worth having a look.

oh dear thats no good hopefully they do find out what it is and can fix it, but if not could it be stress?

Week 5 Post Gastric Sleeve and Struggling
SleeverSk replied to Jenn5120's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dont stress to much i had a horrible time of it all just do the best you can,try to drink fluides like hydrolite or sports drinks, eat you protein first or add tasteless protein powder to your food. It gets easier and better. I thought i was going to die but here i am at 5 months and starting to worry because i can eat way more than i thought i would and i can drink sparkling water/ soft drinks again. Which could be a bad thing (coke addict). Oh with your water put a splash of something in it be it juice, cordial or whatever it makes the water easier to get down and sits in your tummy better -
Maybe but definitely tell your surgeon about what happened.

1 Year Post Op - Needing Support, Not Eating Enough
SleeverSk replied to Cynful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Someone I know developed an intolerance to protein mostly in meat form after surgery maybe this has happened to you too and that in turn has turned you off eating because you now associate eating with being physically sick. I agree woth the others stick to food you can eat without reaction until you get it sorted. I think its perecftly normal for you to feel the way you doing given what you are experiencing. Hope you find answers and feel better soon -
No interest in eating
SleeverSk replied to Leslie F's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Perfectly normal at this stage. What I did to overcome this stage was to make myself try something everyday. Some days were successful and some werent the foods that werent i put on the try agsin in a couple of weeks list. -

Post-Op Hunger Pangs?
SleeverSk replied to Tawny0528's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it will go away, I am 5 months out now and only just starting to get the empty gnawing feeling under control, i was getting even straight after eating. i found having a drink about 15 minutes before eating helped and once i had a drink 30 mins after eating it seem to settle it too. I put it down to the fact i always drank and ate at the same time and now that is missing i still feel hungry sometimes after eating but a drink usually fixes it -
Rather than going back to your surgeon maybe try a dietian. 800 cal is way to low. Try my fitness pal app i was like you didnt want to track etc but its easy with this app. Maybe get your surgeon to look for underlying causes for your lack of weight loss. Blood tests etc.
